Experimentation 10 (Korg Minilogue, DSI Tetra, Korg Electribe Sample)

Published on Mar 20, 2016 Metatron's Cube

"Spending some time in the Korg ES 2's sequencer, learning new things about it and playing with the poly sequencers a bit. The sequence editing didn't make sense to me for a while, but then it finally just clicked. It's similar to learning a new program on a computer sometimes, at least it feels that way to me. This will be tweaked into something bigger hopefully(with more gear). Enjoy the coming week. Thanks for watching and listening!

Two Voice Pro vs OB-6

Published on Mar 20, 2016 kpsiegel

"In this video I took my Oberheim Two Voice Pro and matched as best as I could without going nuts settings that were similar to my Dave Smith Instruments OB-6. No effects were used. The point was to hear how these two sounded in comparison given an approximately equal patch configuration.

I made sure that my unison patch on the OB-6 only used two voices. I used a digital tuner to make sure that each oscillator was tuned a fourth away from the other. The two voice was in unison mode with both SEMs set for the same filter and envelope configurations. Both synths used modified pulse waves with PWM from a sine lfo.

Do not assume that a two voice and an OB-6 are comparable based on this video. The two voice can have totally different configurations on each voice stacked in unison and there is no way to replicate that on an OB-6 with the current software because you would need multis to do that.

You will hear modulation of the OB-6 filter at times and that is being done by an expression pedal that I hooked up to the OB-6. This helps get around the annoying limitation of only allowing the mod wheel on the OB-6 to control LFO depth. This is a way to get that manual modulation of the filter without aftertouch or the mod wheel. I set the two voice pro up to have mod wheel fed to both SEM VCF CV inputs to modify cutoff.

My playing is a little demented because I recently dislocated the pinky on my right hand and it still hurts a lot when I play with that hand. This was more a sound demo than a playing exposition though so it shouldn't matter."

Ambience in C - A Synth Experiment

Published on Mar 20, 2016 Anonymous Animal

"I was messing around with 'Trig' mode on the Electribe, which by default will send out a C midi note on the channel that corresponds with the pad number. I thought it was interesting to try to work within the limitation of only being able to play one note, using only the synth controls to shape the sound.

I liked how it was sounding so I recorded a few minutes of it and added some rotating timelapse footage I shot with a Muvi X-Lapse and GoPro Session.

Minibrute is providing the throbbing bass line, Bolsa Bass is making the tweaky delay sounds, Reface DX on the bells and JU-06 for noisy filter sweeps.

Thanks for watching."
