PO 20 arcade + Korg mini KP2 JAM 'Skov'

Published on May 11, 2016 Arrayzable

"This morning, before work, I went into a nearby forest and had a little jam session with a chord progression I'm using for a track I'm working on on my EMX-1. I got the PO-20 from my wife as a birthday present the other day, and it's really fun. Though limited soundwise, it's a very good companion for musical endeavours :)
Enjoy!

Roland SH-2 Synthesizer Demo - All sounds by the SH-2

Published on May 11, 2016 VeeCeeYay Inc

"A piece made with the Roland SH-2 as the only sound source. Obviously trying for a BoC feel. The percussion sounds were made with sounds sampled from the SH-2 and played back from an MPC-2500. I had to get pretty creative to make the clap sound but I got there. It was a good learning experience. =)

Realiti - Inside the Music of Grimes - Exhibit Coming to Moogfest

The Microsoft Powered Installation Realiti - Inside the Music of Grimes Coming to Moogfest

Uploaded on May 6, 2016 Microsoft

"At this year’s Moogfest, we will create an environment and experience that celebrates music as well as the community by offering fans a unique chance to remix the track ‘Realiti’ by festival headliner Grimes. A new way to experience music, the installation will invite visitors to manipulate their surroundings as they explore an ever-evolving world. Both the visuals and the music respond intuitively to audience movements and interactions."

And the official press release from Moogfest:

"Durham, NC (May 10, 2016) – Opening May 19, Realiti - Inside the Music of Grimes is an interactive installation, powered by Microsoft Kinect technology, that allows participants a chance to go inside the music of Canadian electronic musician and producer Claire Boucher (a.k.a. Grimes). The installation will run from May 19-22 at Moogfest, an annual music, art and technology festival inspired by the late inventor of the Moog synthesizer, Robert Moog.

Grimes is one of the artists headlining Moogfest, a destination for artists, musicians, futurist thinkers, inventors, designers, and entrepreneurs.

The immersive installation will feature the track Realiti from Grimes’ fourth album Art Angels. Microsoft’s Kinect motion sensing technology will allow festival goers and fans to manipulate the music as they physically interact with the environment. As the audience moves through the installation, they will be surrounded by unique sounds and visuals, blurring the line between creator and audience.

Amy Sorokas, Director of Brand Partnerships at Microsoft Brand Studios stated 'Moogfest is a destination for innovative creators to share new ideas, so it felt natural to bring Realiti - Inside the Music of Grimes to the festival. With this installation we're exploring the unexpected ways that technology can enhance the music experience and are hoping to inspire the community with their future endeavours.'

The installation’s system, which is a part of Microsoft’s ongoing R&D music program, serves as a tribute to pioneers in music technology and experimentation, featuring the music of forward-thinking artists. The first project to use the system was DELQA, an installation at the New Museum in New York City that invited the audience to participate in a collaborative experience by going inside the music of critically acclaimed artist and producer Matthew Dear.

Realiti - Inside the Music of Grimes will be the latest artist collaboration featured as part of the Music x Technology program. Curated by Microsoft, Music x Technology is an initiative that celebrates forward-thinking artists who are using Microsoft technology to transform the way we create and experience music. With monthly artist collaborations, the program seeks to empower artists with unique opportunities to create one-of-a-kind experiences for their fans.

I so wish I could go this year. I'm absolutely loving Grimes latest album. She is all over the place.

Tangerine Dream Documentary Seeks Funding on Kickstarter

Some obligatory synth spotting with their vintage Moog modulars in the video above. Hopefully the documentary will spend some time on the gear that helped them shape their music.

via Kickstarter:

"They shaped the world of music like few others did. The first feature-length documentary about Tangerine Dream.

About this project

They used synthesizers in a time when it was just a small side issue. They incorporated sounds from outer space and heartbeats in their revolutionary and unconventional sound and enriched countless classic movies with their unique soundtrack: They are TANGERINE DREAM!

We want to explore the world of Tangerine Dream for the first time in a feature-length documentary. This band became famous as one of the pioneers of electronic and experimental music worldwide. They had the desire to achieve the ultimate sound.

Our goal is to uncover the band's musical evolution, their style and their philosophy behind their art. For this reason we will depict the musical heritage of this revolutionary band and its visionary founder Edgar Froese. Furthermore we will show previously unpublished footage from Edgar's private archive.

The impressive story of ,,Tangerine Dream‘‘ will be reconstructed through several interviews with Edgar Froese’s wife Biance Froese-Acquaye, band members, close friends, befriended artists and famous collaborators.

It’s a homage to the great musician Edgar Froese and the early era of electronic music. And last but not least, it's a piece we owe them!

WHY NOW?

We were currently working on a short documentary about the German band Tangerine Dream.

During the production of this movie, founding member, Edgar Froese sadly passed away. Because of his unexpected death our perspective on Tangerine Dream did change decisively. From that moment on we didn't just want to cherish the band's career, we also wanted to portray Froese’s lifework and keep the bands and its founders legacy. In order to meet our new goals properly, we have to change from a short to a feature-length-documentary."
