LM118 Square-wave Oscillator

Published on Aug 8, 2016 karl welty

"My project the last two days. Had a bag of mil-spec metal can op-amps sitting in a box, purchased surplus 20+ years ago for cheap. LM118's. In the mood for a side trip from neon projects I thought I'd see what one could do in square-wave world. Turns out they are a potent and rich voice, and I could certainly see some future projects using them. I have lots of them. The rest of the parts for this one-off were left-overs and carport pickings. I also wanted to try the build technique of a PC board and stand offs from a faceplate. Multiple experiments, big fun, a learning project, and another trick for the DIY synthesis toolkit. All the sounds in this video were made by this device this afternoon."

TR-808 Sample Pattern Download by Ryan M Todd for 808 Day

"Decided to put together a little treat for my fellow gear enthusiast/producer types. It's samples of all my TR-808's drum voices as well as 30 sample patterns ranging from 80bpm all the way up to 130-something. Some dry, some with effects, some busy, some simple. Classic electro rap beats, Italo, janky wind-tunnel techno, WBMX-style house, etc. Anybody can use these patterns for whatever they want, no credit necessary.

Synthesizers.com Puzzle

Just a few pics of my completed Synthesizers.com puzzle.

I didn't actually do the work though. :)

I gave it to my wife and daughter for Christmas this year as a bit of a gag gift. They love puzzles, and work on one almost every night, but they aren't into synths like me (they do support my habit though :). Well, they finally got around to tackling this one, and I was surprised to hear that they actually enjoyed it! They said it was a fun one because the pieces were distinct. On some puzzles where the patterns appear to be too similar it can be frustrating, but not so with this one.

It gets its power from the triggers.
Put a few of them in a shoebox and run them from a Beatstep Pro.

It will be $40 prebuilt.

The cons: You have to wait until the 1st of September."

Hordijk Drone Project VIII

Published on Aug 8, 2016 Salz-Peter Zucker

"Live recorded modular synth patch using the portable Hordijk system and the Strymon El Capistan. No further effects used on the audio.

Rungler A and B get ring modulated, accompanied by a drone of both harmonic oscillators going through the shaper/phaser.

Self playing, only small adjustments on mixing and the echo."
