Patch Notes #17 - Reaktor Blocks As Eurorack Sequencer

Published on Sep 1, 2016 Voltage Control Lab

"Patch Notes #17 explores the Reaktor Blocks patch that we created in our previous tutorial, sending sequences via MIDI to the Make Noise 0-Coast, and triggers to 3 different Eurorack Drums.

Our Reaktor Blocks patch is running an 6 step sequence in pendulum mode out via MIDI to Mutable Instruments Yarns. Yarns channel 1 CV and gate outputs are routed to the the Make Noise 0-Coast pitch and gate inputs. The Korg SQ-1 is in random mode with a 2 volt range, sending one CV channel out to the voltage math section on the 0-Coast. One mult out from the voltage math section to the FM input on the oscillator, and one to the overtone section. A clock from the Make Noise Tempi is routed to the tempo input, and the stepped random out is routed to the decay length of the contour section. Out to the Malekko Mix4.

Roland System 1m is playing the pads/bass. A channel on Tempi sent into a mult, then on to clock Brains and Pressure Points, one channel of which is routed to the System-1m. The multed clock is also routed to the gate input on the System-1m. Internal LFO on the 1m is modulating the pulse width on the two slightly detuned square waves, long envelopes on the low pass filter and amp, and drenched in reverb and delay.

Reaktor Blocks is also generating 6 clock divisions from an internal clock divider, which is routed to the Gates & Trigs module. This device converts the gates from the clock divider to triggers, which are then individually routed out to 3 drum modules and Tempi. One rhythm is routed to the Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas, which is creating the glitchy, metallic snares. The BI clock source is multed to Make Noise Maths as well, channel 1 of which is routed out from both the unity and variable outputs to the morph and fold functions on the BI. Another Tempi channel is routed to the Make Noise Wogglebug as well, which is randomizing the BI pitch.

The kick and hihat are coming from the Scooper, in the Aira modular drum machine configuration we've covered about a year ago. The hihat length is randomized by the SQ-1 channel B. All modules are routed back through the Mix4, and on to the ping pong delay in Mutable Instruments Warps in Parasite mode.

"Up for sale is the rare and amazing Teisco 110F. It's a duophonic synth similar to the Arp Odyssey and has PPC similar to the Odyssey but is a very different beast indeed. It has a great sounding 24db filter and an additional filter bank that you can route through as you wish percentage wise. There are leds giving you feedback as the audio passes and modulations occur in each stage of the audio path, very amazing. With cv connectivity it's great to use with a modular or an analog sequencer. Everything works great including the added midi kit*(more info below). There are a few blemishes on the end caps but otherwise this is very clean. The PPC does take some force to use but is perfectly normal, I keep it on the most sensitive setting on the sensitivity knobs so i don't have to strain as much. It's very reliable and the oscillators are stable over many octaves, you'll love this synth. It will be packed very carefully and double boxed so you can be sure it will get to you safely. Any q's just ask.

*MIDI to CV-Gate Interface MCV-628 by Papareil Synth Labs. The interface lets you control notes and one selectable control (either Filter Cutoff, PWM1 or PWM2). The button is an auto learn button to learn the midi channel of the incomming midi messages. The switch is to choose if either the notes will be triggered by the keyboard or the incoming midi. The knob has 4 positions and decide which parameter will be affected by modulation message (cc1): 1-cutoff, 2-PWM1, 3-PWM2, 4-OFF. The LED is a multi purpose led which blinks 3 times at power on, after the complete init of the cpu/software. It means "All is ok". In normal working condition, the Gate led lights when a note is played or if a recognised SysEx message is received. […] When the interface is in Autolearn mode, the Gate led stay on, until a MIDI message has been received."

Star Trek Voyager Theme - Juno 60 and Modular Synth

Published on Sep 1, 2016 Autotross

"One of my all time favorite themes played on a Roland Juno 60 and 5U/MU Dotcom modular synthesizer.

The 3 rows of the Q960 sequencer are used for the accompaniment, which I recorded into my looper for easy start/stop with the footswitch."

dawn of the swarm interpolator

Published on Sep 1, 2016 Jörg Schaaf

"The RT-311 Swarm Oscillator has a parameter snapshot interpolator, that creates continuous and smooth blends between different snaphots. The Spread pot controls the number of snapshots that get interpolated and the Speed controls the interpolation speed. This is the first demo of it. In the next video you will have the chance listening to the interpolation for the first time. The track in the background is a demo, I created around 10 years ago with the Spectralis and a chorus and phaser fx."
