Modular On The Spot At Seattle's Gas Works Park

Published on Jul 30, 2017 John L Rice

"I quickly threw this together from random video clips and still shots I took during the MOTS concert at Gas Works Park in Seattle WA USA July 29th 2017.

I was experimenting with my little Canon M5 mirror-less camera and 22mm lens to see how well it would work recording video and I was surprised that the audio quality turned out to be not half bad considering I was only using the built in mic! I would have recorded more than just short clips of all the performers if I had known before hand. (video quality suffered because I had the wrong mode set! d'oh)

Many thanks to Bradley Millington for all his efforts in making this happen and thanks also to http://www.patchwerks.com/ for their support! More info at https://www.facebook.com/modularonthespotsea/

Terminal Tedium Euclidean Beat Slicer demo of record/playback operation.

Published on Jul 30, 2017 Gerald Stevens

"Demonstration of recording a loop by arming recording (LED button long-press) and two start/finish signals come through D2 input (L2 LED indicates them). Also shows the file-playback selection at the end of the video. The tt is running a pure data patch that prints data (128 0-32 integers) for waveform slice display, or text for file selection. This data is printed to the terminal and piped to a modified Adafruit python OLED example.

Synth sequence uses ornament&crime and temps utile modules into mutable rings and braids."

"a demonstration of some of the roland jx-3p's programming functions. if you're interested in getting a 3p, definitely check this out to get a feel for how you make your own patches without using the pg-200 (optional attachment giving knob control of the parameters that go for way too much $$$ these days and really aren't that necessary, imo)."

Snare Drum: trigger, decay control, volume level
Hats: dual trigger for normal and accent, decay control, volume level
Single output.
Bass is coming from the Pittsburgh Synthesizer Box.
Arturia Beatstep Pro is providing clock and triggers for hats.
Easter egg in this video: one of the hat trigger inputs can sustain as long as there is a gate!...watch for it."
