Instruō Tš-L - First Patch | Modular Adventures Ep.14

Published on Apr 22, 2018 Robert Rhoades Music

"I've been getting to know a new friend, the Instruō Tš-L! I wanted something like a Make Noise STO, but this cheeky chappie seemed a lot more exciting. I've had a go with an STO a couple of times now and it never really blew me away. Not the case with the Tš-L! Proper demo coming soon! :)"

"Complex Sample & Hold and Waveform Generator with Noise Source

SSH is a random voltage generator and wave shaper. This S&H has a built in LFO and noise source, allowing for stepped and slewed random waveforms to be generated without any patching or external modules. The stepped S&H waveform can be accessed directly from the STEP output jack, or the waveform can be run through an "intelligent" slew limiter, which allows for smooth slewing between steps. The on-board slew limiter is equipped with a shaping circuit, which allows for the slew to vary between the classic R-C type of glide and linear glide. SSH features some other unique functions, which allow for an amazing variety of waveforms to be generated.

On-board LFO with voltage controlled rate, normalized to the sample & hold trigger generator. External triggering input jack as well.

Sample & hold generator is normalized to an internal white noise source, allowing for "random" stepped waveforms to be generated. External signals between +/-8V can be sampled using the EXT input jack. Stepped S&H output can be accessed using STEP output jack.

Separate output for slewed S&H waveform. (SLEW) Slew amount is voltage controlled. Slope of the slewing is voltage controlled and can be varied between a classic RC glide and linear glide. Using the RISE/BOTH/FALL switch, slew can be active when the S&H waveform is rising, falling, or can be always active (switch in middle position)

SLOPE can be controlled using external CVs. If the SLOPE input is fed a negative voltage, then the slope of the output waveform becomes 0 (A horizontal line), and the voltage is held at the last S&H voltage until the SLOPE CV becomes positive again. For example, if a +/-5vpp square wave were fed into the SLOPE CV input, and the SLOPE CV knob were slowly turned from 0 to max, while the square wave input is less than 0V, the SLOPE output will be held at it's last value, the positive half of the square would determine the slope of the output waveform. The "pause" feature is only available when in SYM mode.

Symmetry control switch - By using the SYM/ASM switch, slew slope can be "opposite" on rising and falling waveforms. If the SYM mode is selected, the slope of the slewed waveform will correspond to the SLOPE CV controls. If ASM is selected, when the slewed waveform is rising, the current SLOPE setting will be applied. When falling, the "opposite" SLOPE setting will be applied. This allows for RC or linear curves to be applied when the S&H waveform is rising, and the opposite curve to be applied when falling, which allows for unique output waveforms to be created. A rear panel header provides separate 5V RISE and FALL gate signals.

This module is 10HP and packs a sophisticated sample & hold generator, waveshaper, and noise source into a compact module."

Critter & Guitari - 1,024,192,512 Combinations Part Deux

Published on Apr 22, 2018 Critter & Guitari

"This video is a very tiny example of the over 1 Billion sonic combinations possible when using three Organelles running the '1008' patch!

The '1008' patch features 9 synths/samplers, 8 sequencers, and 14 effects. Choose one of each to build up a sound. There are 1,008 possible combinations (9x8x14)!

With three Organelles using '1008' there are 1,024,192,512 possible combinations (1008x1008x1008)!

We made another video with the Organelles connected in a MIDI chain for even more craziness:" [posted here]

Behringer Model D in a Waldorf KB37 - Eurorack Starter

Published on Apr 22, 2018 ProckGnosis

"Here's my first step working with eurorack modular. And yes, it's a very safe way to start, considering the Behringer Model D costs less than many one-function modules, and offers everything I need for starting out.

My 3 big take-aways from this "proof of concept" would be:
1. The Behringer Model D sounds pretty decent. I've heard enough examples that I'm not too shocked, but I am still a bit surprised.
2. For people who like modular and playing keyboards and synths, the KB37 is an awesome way to combine both worlds.
3. Yes, modular does appear to be a black hole, and it will definitely put a dent in my wallet and bank account.

And a bonus observation...the Studio Electronics 4075 filter module is SWEEEEEET.

Thanks to DivKid for a great vid showing how he installed the Behringer Model D in a eurorack."

Behringer Model D #02 - Eurorack Case Installation

Published on Feb 2, 2018 DivKidVideo

"In the second video (not the jam videos, I numbered / titled those separately) on the Behringer Model D we look at installing the module into a euro rack case. I did plan on covering this later in the series but as I wanted it in the modular for ease of control/modulation/use in my set up and also to have it next to the Mordax DATA oscilloscope here we go. You remove 8 screws, lift up the panel and then remove two cables/connectors and then add the euro rack ribbon power cable to the module, plug that into your euro rack bus board, screw the module onto the rails and you're off. Simple!"

ELKA X30 Organ VS. EFFEXX Multi FX Module

Published on Apr 22, 2018 Jörg Schaaf

"Last night I brought the ELKA X30 together with our RT-1701 Multi EFFEXX module and checked the string ensemble in combination with the tape delay, reverb and the stereo phaser of our module. At the end I added a bass sound from my favorite polyphonic synth - the Accelerator. Oddly enough I started to play typical Jean-Michel Jarre chord progressions. So I decided remove the FX module from the signal chain again."

Exploring the Akai Timbre Wolf's Unison Mode

Published on Apr 22, 2018 HardtekStudios

"A lot of people are really underestimating the power of the Akai Timbre Wolf. You have four basic mono bass synths that can be stacked with different setting, or even output to different processors for massive layering possibilities. You can even throw it into poly mode for some analog wave sequencing-like effects. The Timbre Wolf can be bought very inexpensively, so I would say the biggest downfall is it's large footprint."
