KORG volca nubass - Analogue bass synthesizer with Nutube - 1st Jam

Published on Sep 22, 2019 iamtheswordmaster1

"I happened to get my hands on the volca nubass, a vacuum tube powered analogue bass synthesizer. It is actually the first synthesizer ever featuring a Nutube (the latest vacuum tube technology developed by KORG). This tiny little thing can sound REALLY mean!

In this clip, I'm basically fooling around with the filter, the envelopes, the saturation and drive effects. Especially the sequencer functions "Accents", "Transpose" and "Slides" are coming in really handy when creating some typical acid bass lines. I'm loving the fact, that you can randomize all these three functions separately on the fly. So, you can create interesting variations of the original bass line or get completely new ideas with the hit of a button.

I just added a little reverb from the KORG KAOSS PAD KP3. The drums are coming from the volca sample."

Reimagined jam w/ Elektron Octatrack MkII, Deckard's Dream, Empress Zoia

Published on Sep 22, 2019 Jay Hosking

"A sort-of-not-really remix of a great song and soundscape by Ian T. Lyckland. Performed live, semi-improvised, and all on hardware.

I loaded Lyckland's song into four slots of the Octatrack, and grabbed snippets for different purposes (piano and essential vocal melody from the original, bass, glitchy ambience, deeper vocals). Then I mangled an additional high piano part into a lead line, then added drums, and finally the Deckard’s Dream through the Empress Zoia (which is the obvious synthy part). I'm pleased with how different the composition is from the original, while also retaining the spirit of Lyckland's emotive track.

The original song is called 'You Are Not A Data Scientist' and is on an album of the same name. Listen and buy it here!: https://lyckland.bandcamp.com/

Elektron Octatrack MkII — Sampler (seven tracks: piano + vox, ambience, bass, and deep vocals from Lyckland's song; higher piano lead; drums from Woody Woodmansey sample), audio effects processor and sampler (for the Deckard's), audio effects processor (for the scenes on the master)
Black Corporation Deckard's Dream + Empress Zoia — Classic synth galore

Written by Ian T. Lyckland and Jay Hosking. Uploaded as is, with only a little compression/limiting on the master.

Rhodes Chroma Demos Including Polyphonic Aftertouch

Published on Sep 22, 2019 Logan Rice

Three quick Rhodes Chroma demos by Logan Rice starting with poly aftertouch. Note the background pads stay the same while the other notes brighten. That's poly aftertouch - only the notes you apply pressure to are affected. With the more common standard or mono aftertouch found on most synths all notes would be affected.

Teenage Engineering OP-Z v Roland MC-101

Published on Sep 22, 2019 Matt Craven

"OP-Z and MC-101 go head-to-head in a battle.

I have been a huge fan of the OP-Z since launch and it keeps on getting better with firmware updates, but I am also a huge fan of those legendary Roland synth and drum sounds.

I sequenced Inspector Norse by Todd Terje on both for comparison."

"The Electro Harmonix Oceans11 has a cool feature : when you switch from a mode to another, it keeps your preset so that when you come back to the previous mode, your tweakings are still there ! Let's enjoy that feature for a "11 Sweet Spots Challenge" ! It's reallynice on my Arturia DrumBrute Impact' snares !"
