Joe Zawinul in rehearsal 1985 - Raw Footage

video by Estel Dillon

Some studio time with Joe Zawinul and his synths. See the comments below for some gear spotting.

"Joe Zawinul-recorded summer 1985; raw tape-no edits. In the summer of 1985, I was working at a television network as a photographer/editor. For one segment of a multi-part series on jazz music, I was fortunate to spend a day with Joe Zawinul, shooting his rehearsal and interviewing him about his long career. I saved some of the tape and decided to post it for his fan's enjoyment. Unfortunately, the tape of his main interview is lost. But what remains is interesting. Joe Zawinul was and remains a master musician. He was also a very nice guy. After the shoot was finished, his wife served us all some gumbo and Joe brought out a bottle of Slivovitz, which we finished. After that, the real stories began! What a great day that was!"

Update:

I'm guessing this was for his album Di•a•lects - via Wikipedia:

Di•a•lects is an album by Joe Zawinul that was released in 1986. It was created by Zawinul alone with his programmed synths and rhythm machines, using vocoders on his own vox and importing Bobby McFerrin’s improvised onomatopoetics and a vocal trio singing in a Zawinul-created language on other tracks."[2] The AllMusic reviewer concluded, "This is an important, overlooked album because it proves that electronic instruments can reach your emotions and shake your body when played by someone who has bothered to learn how to master them."[1]

How to Make the Dream Suite Patch with the Prophet 6

video by Synthetic World 859

"I had some requests for this patch, so here it is! It's a two-oscillator vintage-mode monster that has a classical, almost orchestral sound to it- until you add in the LFO and tilt it out! I pulled out all the stops for this one, adding in aftertouch and showing you some tricks for changing the patch up as you play."

Prophet vs Prophet - The Results (and what we discovered)

video by Alex Ball

Curious if he used the REV3 filter setting on the REV4 or the REV4 filter. Either way, they both sound great to me. Great comparision.
Update via Alex Ball: Curtis / rev3 throughout.

"This is a follow up to this video from last week: [posted here]

The answers were:

3A Rev 4 / 3B Rev 3

148 people gave a full set of 9 answers and out of 1,332 individual answers 740 (55%) were correct and 592 (45%) were incorrect.

In this video I explain that in a little more detail and talk about what we discovered that's of note.

Thanks for watching."

Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit at Pier 36 - New York

video by Luca Longobardi

I thought this was pretty cool. You might have heard about this exhibit online and/or via the news. It turns out Luca Longobardi did the soundtrack for it. His synth videos have been featured here on the site , a couple of which were from Polyend.

"Our Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit opens today in New York and you can't imagine how much I wanted to be there! Because New York is the city that gave me, in my years of studies there, the awareness of how much music could give and do for people." Knowing that from today in the City, (a lot!) people will listen to the soundtrack I wrote for our show makes me happy and excited. Today I feel my heart full of joy!"

Custom Presets for Moog DFAM. Techno Generator. Bass, Lead, Perc, Generative. Sound Demo. No Talking

video by Anton Anru

"«Techno Generator» is a collection of 50 patches for Moog DFAM: 15 Basses, 15 Leads, 15 Percs, and 5 Generative patches.
🎧 Get the soundset: https://bit.ly/3x756yg

Though the title includes «Techno», the patches may be used in a wide variety of genres. Techno is just the first thing comes in my mind when I tweak and listen to DFAM. Analog phatness, experimental sounds, huge basses, vivid leads, freaky sequences, electronic drums, generative patches work nicely not only in techno, they will decorate any track where a decent sound design is welcome.

Each page contains notes that explain how the patch works, what parameters worth tweaking during the playback, how to develop the timbre during a performance. If you make all the settings consciously and try the things mentioned in the notes, you will learn lots of things about the synth and discover its true depth.

There are audio examples of all patches inside the folder with the soundset.
To recreate these presets you need up 5 patch cords.
