Please welcome: 5 Moons by Critter & Guitari

video upload by Critter & Guitari

5 Moons is a multi-track recorder! Write songs in loops or straight through like a tape recorder. Connect an instrument, record 5 tracks, then bounce down to start a new song with the bounce on the first track. 5 Moons is simple and immediate. You'll be making song after song after song..."

"5 Moons is a multitrack recorder. On one hand, it's a tool to record your creativity. Build up layers of tracks and enjoy crafting that perfect song or field recording.

On the other hand, it helps you create new sounds! Looping and bounce down functions open up new dimensions for your sound and fun ways for your tracks to interact with each other!

The unassuming wood enclosure draws you in, but hidden inside are high fidelity electronics designed for rich recordings. Its sleek user interface offers crisp control and ample room for sonic experimentation.

Easy Interface, Rapid Results

Get straight into recording - let your creativity flow.

5 Moons' simple interface is perfect for effortlessly building up many tracks.

The immediacy of 5 Moons means you'll be quickly experimenting and exploring the new ideas flying around your studio - watch out!

One Shot or Loop?

Create evolving jazz loops and/or a 3-chord pop song.

5 Moons is happy to acommodate recording a song with a beginning and end or a looping vibe - it's all in how you decide to play back your tracks. You'll probably do both!

Bounce with Me

Build up your song with more tracks.

At first glance, you might think 5 Moons 'only' has five tracks. But once you bounce down those five tracks to the first track of a new song, you'll have 4 more tracks to add to it!

Once those four new tracks have audio, bounce down again and you'll have another four new more tracks to play with! ...and on and on until your masterpiece is complete.

File Freedom

Disk Mode makes it easy to transfer files to your DAW.

The USB-C port is used for both power and data transfer. Connect to your computer and copy your recordings for posterity and/or additional editing.

You can also copy existing audio files onto 5 Moons. Use these files as the beginnings of new songs or use 5 Moons' interface as a way to reenvision and remix your prior tracks!"

Fujifilm XT4 Gritty Low Light Video in Classic Negative with vocoder retro synthpop music

video upload by Mamotreco

"Shot this with the Fujifilm X-T4 and the Fujinon 50mm f2 prime lens. I let the ISO run as high as it wanted to since I was shooting as we were driving around at night on the back roads of the Pacific Northwest suburbs. The IBIS is turned on since the lens has no OIS.
#fujifilm #lowlight #vocoder

The background music I wrote years ago on Fruity Loops 3 with the vocoder vocals coming in from the Microkorg synth. There might also be some Casio CZ5000 melodies in there.

You’ll notice that the footage is pretty jerky at moments but in a rather mechanical way. I believe that is due to the Fujifilm X-T4 IBIS which tends to be pretty rigid, which is great for static shots but not so much for dynamic movement situations.

The Classic Negative film simulation which I applied to the video is very pleasing in terms of mood and color look, in my opinion. This is one of the strengths of the Fujifilm system of cameras, being able to apply distinctive but versatile looks to both footage and photos.

One last word about the music, I wrote this track being inspired by both John Carpenter soundtracks and early Sierra point and click adventure backgrounds on the first outings of Police Quest, Space Quest, and Leisure Suit Larry.

"A simple comparison between the classic Minimoog old oscillator board Model D and the GuinGuin MME replica you can build as DIY kit. Please keep in mind there's slight calibration differences between both."

Serge Modular Synthesizer: GTO - simple patch as dual VCO

video upload by fonitronik

"The GTO is Serge Tcherepnins latest module design. It is the successor of the SSG, but not only. It is a complete new circuit design that can do everything the SSG did, but better and more.
This simple patch shows how both sides can now be used as VCOs with a 1V/Oct input.
BTW I modified my GTO to have banana sockts instaed of 3.5mm jacks."

The Lost Prophet: Dave Smith's Forgotten Flagship

video upload by Jameson Nathan Jones

"The Prophet 12 was one of the first synths that caught my eye when I first got into synthesizers, but then I promptly forgot about it during the analog revival of the 2010s. I recently got my hands on one, and decided to do some digging into why this synth is seldom talked about, despite Dave Smith himself proclaiming it to be his favorite when it was released 10 years ago.

Dave Smiths Craziest Synth

The Poly Evolver is wonderfully weird... and may be my new favorite synth
video upload by Jameson Nathan Jones

"The DSI Poly Evolver Keyboard is both confusing and beautiful, but I've gotten things out of it I've never gotten out of any other synth. It's a bit of a unicorn instrument, and is quintessentially "Dave" in its blend of legacy and innovation."

I wish more synths could do this
