Korg Wavestate - "Hollywood" Soundset (40 Exclusive Performances)

video upload by LFOstore

"We all grew up watching great Hollywood movies, and one of the key features that always made a deep impression was the soundtracks to these films. How many amazing composers have the film era produced! And all these insightful violins, powerful trumpets, mysterious harps, piercing piano sounds...

Based on own experience of scoring films, animation and video games, our team has created hybrid multi-layered orchestral sounds that will allow you to create the high-quality production using one of the greatest synthesizers of our time, Korg Wavestate.

These 40 exclusive performances were created by the well-known sound designer, Otto K. Schwarz and his team. Each preset has modwheel and X/Y pad assigned, which allows you to deeply modulate and customize the sounds to the needs of your own musical works. These presets are suitable for both studio work and live performances.

We wish you a wonderful journey through cinematic soundscapes and inspiration in creating world-class musical compositions!"

Patching Panda Punch MG - first patch

video upload by John Schussler

"I'm not entirely sure what to call the Punch MG. It's a mixer, it's a VCA, it's an envelope, but also it's none of those things. It's its own thing.

Try this: you put some sounds into it, plus some triggers. It has a decay envelope for each channel that you can adjust so that you can make those sounds percussive. That's part one.

Then you add each channel to the Mute group (or don't). This doesn't really mute the channels in any sense, it ducks them. The signal on one channel affects the envelope of the signal on another, and vice versa.

At least I think that's what's happening. In any case, it makes a group of sounds work really well together.

The waves of the Baltic Sea control this patch

I went on a trip near the Baltic Sea recently, and I spent some time recording the waves. I managed to record it while it was nice and calm and there was a lot of space between the waves. There's even a seagull somewhere there. In any case, I remember listening to an interview with Rbeny, where he mentioned that he likes using field recordings as a modulation source, and I wanted to experiment with this idea. I'm using an envelope follower and a slope detector to convert the recording into control voltage I then use to control this whole patch. Using it as pitch information, as a modulation source bringing voices in and out, and as a gate source."

Tony Banks' Old Synth

video upload by Alex Ball

"Following on from our look at Genesis SP-12 sounds, here's a look at Tony Banks' Roland JD-800 that he used live throughout the 1990s.

In this video, we have a listen to the tour patches stored on the instrument and get a little glimpse into how Genesis did things in front of stadiums full of adoring fans.

Huge thank you to Andrew Ward for the loan of this historic instrument.
