Korg Volca FM2 Vs. Sonicware Liven XFM Sound Comparison

video upload by Dylan Ferno

"These are 2 portable and budget, 6 voice, FM synthesizers. While the Sonicware Liven XFM is more capable as a beat making machine, I thought I'd put the Korg Volca FM2 up to the sound test to see where it can compete. No external effects were added.

Since synths can make millions of different sounds, it is hard to directly compare them. So to do the best I could, I compared some of my favorite presets/custom patches in the following categories:

0:00 Pads
0:45 Ambience
1:45 Bass
3:15 Lead
4:20 Keys
5:55 Brass
6:47 Strings
7:57 Mallets
9:00 Whistles
9:58 Drums

In my opinion, the XFM is warmer sounding and better for traditional electronic sounds with its own unique twist. While the Volca FM2 is better for beutifully replicating the sounds of acoustic instruments."

Serge Sea Anatomy

video upload by Memetune Studio

"Trying out something on the Serge system: using the direct pulse inputs to the Programmer taken from the pulse outputs from the 1050 cloned Mix Sequencer, then changing the direction of the 1050 with the Serge Clock Divider every 5 times through the sequence, thus giving an evolving sequence of notes over more than the normal 8 steps an ordinary sequencer gives. I'm getting into some interesting generative (Cybersynthesis) techniques today"

SOMA Terra // What are all those blobs?

video upload by Starsky Carr

"A look at how the interface on the SOMA Terra works. It looks completely impenetrable, and that's because it is! Nothing to penetrate here.. just fiddle and go.. and therein lies the beauty! There are 32 sound engines which can interact with the buttons in different ways.

You've got 12 blobs for tuning, 4 blobs for 'macros' and a few knobs and buttons for selecting parameter and so on. From sublime to ear-drilling mayhem in a few moments. It's the sort of thing you want to spend hours and hours playing.

A FESTIVE GIFT for VERY loved one (i.e. buy it for yourself!.. yours...elf - it's Christmas after all.)
