*N.B.— Zviij "Fetish" (Upcoming release 2013)
Zviij's 4th full length album is more a principle and a routing process than a fixed composition. Elaborated on sound-trajectories and timbric patterns, "Fetish" was conceived for electric strings + electronics and was realized with a 10-string Grand® Chapman Stick + various hybrid analog/digital sound processors (including harmonizers, delays and distortion boxes). "Fetish" displays a series of peculiar recordings between early electronics, alternative chamber music and technical sound design. (...) zviij.com"

Bassanome

Bassanome from earsmack on Vimeo.

"Pronounced similar to bossanova.

Bassanome is a max patch modeled after the 4-string fretted electric bass. By default the notes are E A D G but can be changed. Each string is represented by a pair of columns when the monome is standing tall. Two velocities and midi channels can be set. By default, the outer column of a pair uses the lower velocity and first midi channel, the inner uses the upper and second midi channel although they can be the same. Note that because columns are defined as inner and outer they are actually inverse to each other on opposite sides of the monome - this mirror-image actually makes for an interesting performance perspective.

This example shows playing the monome like you might an Eigenharp, Chapman Stick or upright bass. It is using two separate MIDI channels triggering an instance of Operator and Collision in Ableton Live 8. Delay is also added just because it sounds cool. After the short "tune" I play the top row to show the relationship between notes and sounds.

IVL CHAPMAN STICK GRID 1 RACK 7000 PITCH TO MIDI SYNTH

via this auction
"This is a one space rack unit for a half grid or 5-6 string design of the chapman stick. It is in it's oem ivl grid box with foam and wrap. It is rare and works well… this unit converts a pitch signal through a synthesuzed sound. A master midi output which will connect to a midi slave or synthesizer output, thus producing synthesized sounds or to trigger other midi slave devices.

Ivl history: ivl pitchrider 7000 units are guitar and multi-string pitch input to midi conversion units. We have them also in stock, and they are for sale on line. These 7000 units are identical to the chapman stick "grid" system which work with any number of string guitars (up to 6) and the 5 or 10 string chapman stick systems. 1/2 and full grid, 5 or 10 string systems. They are all 1 space rack units."
