MH11 jam/ VCF02/ SSF PTG

MH11 jam/ VCF02/ SSF PTG from Equinoxoz music solutions on Vimeo.

"Ok so the Fonitronik MH11 has arrived and its one of the nicest sequencers (and highly anticipated ones for me) that I have come across.

The underlaying concept for it is that the voltage fed to the PCV (pattern CV) in is broken down into a binary code, this binary code is then able to sequence the patterns related to how the stages are set (IE on, OFF or ADC mode) by altering this code you can achieve up to 256 different numerically derived patterns and various modifications thereof. The PCV input likes to see 0 to 5v but it has an onboard attenuator as well as a fine control and offset so you can use most anything into it, in this video I had a XAOC MOSKWA changing the pattern every few steps which is hugely fun!

The output has two LED bar graphs, the Yellow graph shows you what the voltage is broken into including showing indication of the Gate and Trigger outputs.

The Red bar graph depicts the actual pattern playing from the encoded voltage and also shows an indicator for the 0v and 5v.

You can set stages so they are off (not included in the pattern) ON (always included no matter the ADC coding) or ADC mode (governed by the ADC) for each stage of the sequencer.

Overall this one sequencer offers a MASSIVE amount of creative prospects for rhythmic programming, the ability to subtly shift the pattern by moving and changing the PCV voltage is something that when tied to a clock you can get seemingly endless amounts of variation with minimal input to achieve it.

Great sequencer, one of the best I have used.

FANTASTIC work! Matthias Hermann!"

Schippmann filter in there as well.

New fonitronik Binary Game Sequencer Demos

Binary Game Sequencer: Another Short Demo from fonitronik on Vimeo.

a little bit more BPM, shows nicely how the patterns evolve...

One more simple Demo of the Binary Game Sequencer from fonitronik on Vimeo.

using external voltages 1: one divisions inpt is fed by a fast square (ringing)...

Binary Game Sequencer in Audio Mode from fonitronik on Vimeo.

the sequencer is now clocked by the x4046 VCO (which is driven by another sequencer). the binary gane sequencer now works like a suboctave VCO with multiple suboctaves, and a volume control for each suboctave.
for one division i use an external signal in audio range. the result is a little bit FM like, however, it is certainly not.

fonitronik quick and dirt demo of my new binary sequencer

quick and dirt demo of my new binary sequencer from fonitronik on Vimeo.

"each CV channel is routed to one VCO. 1st divisions trigger controlls a LPG for the 1st VCO, 2nd division controlls 12db LP for the 2nd VCO.

Fonitronik VC Ring Modulator

flickr By Adam-V

"Frac version of the Fonitronik Voltage Controlled Ring Modulator"

I realize I don't have a Frac label.  I created a eurorack label a while back for posts that focused on eurorack systems in general vs. the focus being on a particular manufacturer.  I didn't create a Frac label as when you saw a Frac system you could easily identify just a few brands.  I realize now that if you want to sort by Frac only, there is no way to really do it.  You have to know the brands and then you have to check the label for each.  To give Frac more exposure, I decided to create a Frac label with this post.   Two popular formats to look at in the archives for Frac are Blacet and Paia.

On a side note, I do have a Modcan label for that format and Cynthia which was popular in the format but now does most formats.  I also have MOTM/Synthtech, but for Moog/Dotcom/Moon Modular and the like, I still have the labels separate.    We'll see how it goes, but for now Frac and Eurorack will have their labels.

fonitronik mh21 Resonator

flickr By fonitronik

"sketch of the module i am working on this year. the mh21 will be based on the PS3100 resonators and provide singel in- and outputs, a triangle LFO with sync.

the LFO is normalled to the CV inputs of the 3 bandpass filters (vactrol), while it can be inverted for the 3rd..."

"The mh11 offers a new take on the basic sequencer concept. An analogue to digital converter generates 256 patterns. The notes and direction stay the same, but the sequence of steps that actually get played is under manual or voltage control..."

Thomas Henry's Controller LFO

Thomas Henry's Controller LFO from fonitronik on Vimeo.

"Again a very short demo of one of Tomas' new modules. This video shows just the LFO running in trigger mode, and then in gated mode.  There are only few LFO modules integrating a gate delay and a VCA to create this delayed and inceasing tremolo/vibrato that sounds so musical."

"A short unedited demo of my built of Thomas Henry's latest 555 timer based VCO. The 1V/Oct input is fed by a Dopefer Quantizer to show how nicely it tracks.

NOTE that i left off the PWM in my build, but added a switch and a LED to switch from VCO to LFO mode. In this demo i only use the VCO mode, though."

Breakdown Stepped Multimode VC Filterbank

YouTube Published on Aug 14, 2012 by fonitronik

"A short demo of my now complete BSMVCFB in the context of the to-go rig.
The BSMVCFB provides 8 semstyle multimode filters, each with cutoff, resonnance, CV attenuation, pan (L/R), and mode controlls. A common controller board stepps the incoming audio through the filters, and sums the stereo ouputs - inspired by the Breakdown VSTi.
One additional audio input is directly routed to all 8 filters, making it a voltage controlled filter bank..."
