Benjolin V2 by After Later Audio

Patchwerks Seattle

"In this video resident expert Nick Bigelow shares with us the new Benjolin V2 by After Later Audio. The Benjolin could be best described as a 'chaotic synth voice.'

Hordijk 5U Rungler - Dual Fader - VCA Shaper - Phaser

"Up for grabs is a Hordijk 5U panel with the Rungler, Dual Fader, VCA-Shaper, and Phaser modules. I took the listing down for a period of time as I was holding it for a private sale that fell through. Lesson learned.

I paid a steep premium for it as Mr. Hordijk only sells full system on a 3 year wait and doesn't even sell his modules individually. They are extremely rare and never come up for sale. It’s worth every penny. Puts your east coast synth on an SR-71 headed west immediately."

Mr Grassi by Ieaskul F. Mobenthey

Published on Apr 18, 2020 CatSynth TV

"We explore Mr. Grassi, a chaotic touchpad module from Ieaskul F. Mobenthey. We start with a simple audio output then use it to drive increasingly complex moular patches.

0:10 Introduction to Mr. Grassi and rungling
0:41 Direct audio output
1:01 Sending rungler audio to the Strymon Magneto
1:35 Moog Mother-32: Modulating the oscillator frequency and triggering the envelope
2:00 Running a rungler through a rotating clock divider (Max/MSP/BEAP)
2:32 Controlling pitch and timbre of the Sputnik Dual Oscillator; triggering the Sinc Bucina LPG
3:11 Adding two channels from Mr. Grassi to control Comb and Time parameters on the Qu-Bit Prism

For more information about Mr. Grassi and other wild instruments from Ieaskul F. Mobenthey and Ciat Lombarde, please visit http://synthmall.com/

"Grassi, a touch-module, contains twelve square waves, used as the clock and data for shift registers, each followed by primitive resistor DAC. The DACs modulate clock and counter-clock wise, yielding closed loops of perpetual modulation, triggered by touch. Each of the six outputs are a single, four-bit DAC. Listening to them raw, they generate modem sounds to pure noise on touch. On release of touch, each DAC holds the contingent position of its DATA. Thus the DATA can be used as CV for up to six other operators, scrambled on touch...

Rungling, a coin of Rob Hordijk, is exactly what Mister Grassi does. He takes two oscillators and mixes them in the shift register chip, treating one as data and the other as clock. The result, a memory heterodyne, feeds back into the oscillators. This circular process traverses both analog and digital, soft tones and square drones."

Supporting site member, Todd Barton, has a new album out. This one featuring Buchla and Hordijk systems. The following is in via his mailing list:

"I’m so excited to have this album, spaces, out at Bandcamp
with awesome cover artwork by Ursula Barton!!

It is available as a CD or download.

The main instruments at play are various Buchla and Hordijk systems along with some processing via Metasynth.

I hope you enjoy this new album, it was a joy to compose and produce.

Best wishes,
Todd

Beware of the BLIPPOO BOX !

Published on Oct 1, 2019 ] mxbdpln [

"This are the sounds of an already classic synth : Rob Hordijk's Blippoo Box, version 2018. Still a very unique analog synthesizer, at first looking completely chaotic, but then when you dig deeper you can find the sweetest spots... This video a just a short demonstration of what you can get after tweaking the knobs a bit.

From Rob Hordijk :

The 2018 version of the Blippoo has a couple of changes in respect to previous versions:

1 The range of the oscillators is extended at the low end. Cycles can now
take up to minutes.

2 CV outputs are +/- 1V/Oct compatible over an eight octave range.

3 The S&H circuit is improved and has a switch to choose between two signals to sample: either Triangle B or the mix of the two Rungler signals.

4 The Resonator has a crossfader on its input to fade between the internal PWM pulse signal or an external signal that should be roughly at audio line level. Without an external input signal it can act as a volume/mute control.

5 The audio output signal is slightly hotter, in cases up to 4V pp.

6 The FRQ CV IN affects Rate A only."

Hordijk Feedback Patch

Buchla Benjolin Test 1

Published on Jun 7, 2019 Todd Barton

"A new, very limited edition of Rob Hordijk's Benjolin project in Buchla format by Anto."

Update: second video added to the playlist above.

"Audio outputs normaled :

- Square 5 pk-pk
- Triangle 4 pk-pk
- XOR 5 pk-pk
- PWM 5 pk-pk
- VCF Out is approx. line level

I've added a jumper to disconnect the PWM that is internally wired to the filter.

- 1.2V Inputs _ these vcos are not super stable but 3 octaves tuned decently_ there's trimmers on the back to adjust each vcos

- CV Attenuverters

- Clock In & Serial In : Feed with external signal (at least 2V) Trig, gate, or CV. External is activated when switch is down.
Pulser from 208 is a bit to short to fire it. Works with 281, 245, TSNM, 259 square and saw waves, uStep, Klee sequencer, LFO, 266 outputs, 208 envelope...

- Bit 1/2/3 : Gate Out 15v - when led light on : Gate=0

- Stepped : It's the Rungler CV output, 8 stepped voltage (S&H sort of). Maximum range from 0.5 to 12v. It can be trimmed.
One "scale" I find useful to shift the stages of the 245. 1,2v/2.6v/4v/5,4v/6,8v/8v/9.5v/10.8v

- Switch mode : 8 steps / Random / 16 steps

- PushButton : Manual Trigger Serial In = change the pattern of the Rungler when pressed.

- 2-pole VCF with Rungler CV control and attenuverter."

Klangbau Köln Eurorack: Analog FM, Filter Pings & Wavetable Synth Sounds #TTNM

Published on Apr 21, 2019 THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"In this video I demonstrate a patch combining analog FM, filter pings and digital wavetable oscillator sounds.

♥ SUPPORT: http://bit.ly/ttnm-support

Klangbau Köln Website:
https://xn--klangbaukln-zfb.de/

Patch Notes:
The patch is a combination of four sounds, mixed together and sent through a VCA and audio effects.

1. XR-VCO (big version) sine wave output with added linear frequency modulation from the Variable qVCF's LP output in self-oscillation
2. Variable qVCF BP output in self-oscillation
3. Twin Peak Filter Pings modulated by the Wavetable VCDO audio output
4. Wavetable VCDO audio

All sounds are mixed with a Doepfer A-138 exp. audio mixer and sent into the Klangbau Waveshaper module, although only to use its clean (non-waveshaping) VCA, modulated by the Klangbau ADSR envelope.

The ADSR is trigger by the Pulse 2 output of Klangbau's Rob Hordijk Benjolin, which is sometimes FM'ed by its own chaotic Rungler CV.

The Pulse 2 output also triggers the digital version of the Klangbau Logistic Equation (Logistische Gleichung), which generates chaotic pitch CV for the XR-VCO, qCF and Wavetable VCDO and also pings the Twin Peak Filter's audio input. The CV is also used to modulate the Wavetable DCO's waveform choice.

After the VCA, the audio runs through the Synthrotek EKO Delay, which is modulated by the Benjolin's Rungler, and then through the Klangbau Köln Spring Reverb."
