"TerraTec Sine MB33 MK 2 analog bass synthesizer. Midi controlled with and in, out and thru ports. Can accept your midi control changes for some cool midi dynamics. It's a Roland TB-303 clone. Get's nice and bubbly. Comes with built in distortion to create some cool acid tracks. It's a super cool little synth.
This is branded under TerraTec but it's actually a MAM (Music and More) product. They were a German synth company that produced many cool synths and effects under various names (TerraTec, MAM and NEXT come to mind) back in the late 90s early 2000s."

Terratec Promedia Waldorf micro Wave PC EWS Synthesizer Module for the PC
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction
Here's something you don't see often. A Waldorf synth that sits in a PC drive bay.
The Waldorf microWavePC or micro WavePC. Curious what the EWS stands for. Electronic Wavetable Synthesizer? Excellent Waldorfian Supersynth?
P.S. I swear I've seen one before, but this just might be the first one to be featured on the site.
Update via Swissdoc:
"It [EWS] stands for Eierlegende WollmilchSau. Terratec used the EWS name for a series of soundcards.
The term 'eierlegende Wollmilchsau' is often used to describe product, which can do everything and more. It describes an animal, which is a hybrid out of chicken (can lay eggs), sheep (produces wool), cow (gives milk) and pig (in German Sau or Schwein). Translated it would then be: egg-laying wool-milk-pig. This is not working out in English, since the English language is missing the option of composing new words out of existing. Like Donaudampfschif...
There is a German Wikipedia entry for EWS only. But here is a nice visualization, of how a EWS may look like.
Coming back to the Terratec microWave PC. This a special version of the Microwave II/XT, but it runs a different OS. The latest OS for Microwave II/XT was not ported over back in time, so the Terratec microWave PC lacks a few features. On Sequencer.de there was a recent thread about soundsets for the Terratec microWave PC, where forum member Summa posted some converted banks. I made it available for download."

Terratec Sine MB33 Mkii analog bass synth
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction
I don't believe I've ever seen this particular white model before. It has never been featured on the site before now. The following is some info from the listing:
"Up for sale is my MB33 Mk2, a rack-mountable true analog monophonic bass synthesizer with full MIDI implementation. It was originally developed in Bavaria by MAM (Music & More), but took the name of Terratec when the two companies joined forces in 2003.
The VCO is switchable between saw-tooth and square wave. Unlike on the earlier Mk1 version, there is also a sub-oscillator which can be mixed with either of the other two waveforms for ridiculously fat and punchy bass sounds. Also new on the Mk2 is an 18dB low pass filter (ie just like the TB303 - the Mk1 version's filter was 24dB) and a built-in distortion knob. Needless to say, there are also the usual controls for frequency cut-off, resonance, ENV mod, accent, decay, and autoslide, all of which can be sent/received via MIDI. Another feature, often overlooked for some reason, is a very useful VCF input for filtering external signals.
It really is a fantastic little synth. It can do the squealing growling 303 thing with ease, but the sub-oscillator and VCF input elevate it to another level of possibilities.
I've owned it from new and it's been very well looked after. Cosmetically it's in near-mint condition, and everything works exactly as it should. It comes complete with original box, Terratec PSU, and manual, which is also available online"

Terratec Komplexer - Freeware Wavetable Tool
via sequencer.de (Googlish here). [Note a new version is available, see the second update further below]
"Is ne mixture of Waveterm and Fairlight including Lightpen - Operation ;-) , mit der man Transwaves für Ensoniq Sampler malen oder resynthetisieren kann. With which one can paint Trans Waves for Ensoniq Samplers resynthetisieren or. Version 2 wird auch noch ein HQ - Stereo - Morphing enthalten, wenn ich's dann mal fertig kriege. Version 2 will also contain a HQ - Stereo - Morphing, if I then get ready times. WTMAKER ist quasi Abfall... WTMAKER is virtually waste ...
Viel Spaß/Frust bei der Erstellung eigener Komplexer - Wavetables. Have fun / frustration when creating your own Complex - wavetables."
Update via matgrk in the comments:
"WTMAKER is 16/32 Bit OS only
- put the EXE into an own directory
- put a WAV (MONO, 44,1 kHz, 16BIT, >0.5 sec) into this directory and rename it "input.wav"
- doubleclick onto the wtmaker.exe
- if operation is successful, it writes a file named "userwt.wt"
I'm sorry for the circumstances, but wtmaker was only written for my personal use in less than 2 hours (I needed a wavetable ... *lol*). If there's a need for such a prgram, I'll write a more usable version the next days.
The picture above is from another program I'm working on. WTMAKER is a kind of batch utility, wich uses some code from the program you see on the picture.
Sorry for my poor english. :-)

Update2: via matgrk in the comments: "A new version of wtmaker is available:
http://home.arcor.de/blacktomcat666/allg/WTMAKER.EXE
Now you can drag and drop WAVs (16bit,44,1 kHz,Mono,>0.5 sec) onto the exe. You don't have to rename the files. Futher the *.WT file has the same name as the input file. I hope this changes improve the usability. "

Terratec Area 61 Close to Shipping
Remember the Terratec Area 61 I posted back in March of last year? Well it looks like it will finally be shipping this spring. Title link takes you to the press release.
Some details on the synthesis aspect of the Area 61:
"New sound generation options
In addition, keyboardists have access to the integrated KOMPLEXER DSP sound modules for use as a classic synthesizer, that is, also without a computer. To this end, TerraTec Producer now offers the KOMPLEXER VST, a synthesizer that runs as a VSTi plug-in and as a standalone DSP application. Comprising a real synthesizer based on the Waldorf MicroQ®, it provides more than 400 parameters for shaping the perfect sound. And if this complexity seems a bit overwhelming at first, keyboardists can go to the Easy Edit page, choose from the many presets and easily manipulate their selections using eight macro controls. Best of all, entire banks port from KOMPLEXER VST to AREA 61’s on-board KOMPLEXER DSP. This means KOMPLEXER VST goes wherever the keyboard goes, without having to carry a computer. The WAVE XTABLE module is a 128 voice, GM- and XG-compatible waveboard offering more than 500 top-drawer sounds. Further modules will be developed. Users can employ othe vendors’ compatible wavetable cards, making the AREA 61 a remarkably extendible instrument. The integrated sound generator’s analog output signal is routed to the output mixer and may be auditioned with the 2.0 audio system‘s playback signal as well as on the input monitor. Finally, recording the output signal via USB 2.0 is a further possible option. The AREA 61 is much more than another Controller keyboard.
Another optional Soundboard for the AREA 61 will be provided by MIDITEMP® with the new DoX1, a HI-Synthesis soundengine by KORG ® with 62-voice polyphony, 660 high quality sounds from the successful KORG-TRITON® series, 30 drumkits, two effect processors and GM/GM2 compatibility.
Priced at 899.00 euros, TerraTec PRODUCER´s AREA 61 including KOMPLEXER DSP board, KOMPLEXER VSTi and Steinberg´s Cubase LE will be available in spring 2007.
These following optional sound expansions are already available for the AREA 61 keyboard:
* KOMPLEXER DSP Board, virtual analog Hardware Synthesizer, Waldorf MicroQ® compatible . Price: EUR 199.00
* WAVE XTABLE waveboard, 128 voices, GM/XG compatible soundboard more than 500 top-drawer sounds und drumkits. Price: EUR 149.00
* DoX-1 Wavetable Daughterboard by MIDITEMP®, HI-Synthesis soundengine from the successful KORG-TRITON® series,
660 high quality sounds, 30 drumkits, two effect processors and GM/GM2 compatibility. Price EUR 499.00"

USB DSP Drive Based Synths?
Update via David in the comments:
"TI just introduced a $20 microcontroller development kit in a usb drive that's probably up to the task. Check out the TI site for more info:"
http://www.ti.com/ez430
"It’s easy to rev up your application in minutes with the new eZ430-F2013, the world’s smallest complete development tool for only $20! The tool provides all hardware and software needed to evaluate the MSP430 MCU or complete an entire F20xx project. The F20xx combines 16 MIPS performance, less than 1 microamp standby current, with your choice of analog converters - from a comparator, fast 10-bit ADC to 16-bit sigma-delta with integrated PGA - all in a package as tiny as 4x4 mm. Designing with the world’s lowest power MCU just got even easier."
That's a mouth full, say it 10 times really fast. : ) So, what you are looking at is a 512M USB drive. No DSP. This post is about what it might be like if we had DSP based USB drives. So... I copied over VSThost, a free VST Host app and a few soft synth dlls on my USB drive, and now I can take my soft synths on the road. This is kind of cool, but only kind of.
What would be really cool is if this were a DSP based drive so I could just plug it into a midi controller and play; with no PC, monitor or other. What would be even cooler is if my midi device automatically mapped it's controls according to the synth I was using. What would be even better? If soft synth developers and hardware manufacturers turned all of this into a standard.
Think of that. No OS dependencies that could mean the demise of most softsynths. For example, the Waldorf PPG Wave 2.v will not install on Windows XP. And... hardware based soft synths - you'd finally be able to run your soft synths like actual hardware synths. Another interesting thing is you'd have a wide variety of hardware controllers to chose from. Feel like a small portable device for the road or the couch, no problem, just plug in your USB device and go. MPC style controller, X0X, full weighted keys, knobs, sliders, you name it. You can't do that with hardware VAs.
Thanks goes to Doktor Future's and Jimmy's comments in this post on the Terratec Area 61.

Terratec Area 61 Expandable Keyboard System
Now this is interesting. The Terratec Area 61 is a MIDI controller with optional built in DSP boards that can host different synth engines. To start they will offer the Terratec Komplexer (basically a Waldorf uQ) and the WaveXtable (more below). In via Harmony Central News. Title link takes you to full release.
"TerraTec Producer will unveil a unique keyboard at the Frankfurt Musikmesse - AREA 61. Based on an unprecedented design, AREA 61 is an expandable keyboard system for studio and gigging musicians. It is a genuine musical instrument with freely selectable, integrated sound generators (optionally available DSP soundboards) that may also serve as a central control unit for all software sequencers and virtual instruments in computer-based music studios.
Sound Generation Options
In addition, keyboardists can equip AREA 61 with optionally available sound modules for use as a classic synthesizer, that is, without a computer. To this end, TerraTec Producer now offers KOMPLEXER, a synthesizer that runs as a VSTi plug-in and as a standalone DSP application. Comprising a real synthesizer based on the Waldorf μQ, it provides more than 400 parameters for shaping the perfect sound. "Komplexer has eight macro controllers onboard and features three oscillators, two multi-mode filters, four ADSDSR envelopes, three LFOs, and includes the ability to import Waldorf microQ sounds."
