Fricko ProPulse: Wobbly, buzzy, nasal, animated: Getting that Pro Soloist sound and beyond?

video by Rick Jelliffe

"I have had a project of the last decade or two, to figure out why the Pro Soloist synth had such a unique sound: this video looks at why I came up with Fricko's ProPulse DIY eurorack module and how to fit it into a patch to give sounds in the same 'Pro Soloist' family."

Fricko Articulators: Blat and Clean

video by Rick Jelliffe

"A quick introduction to Fricko DIY Eurorack modules, with brief audio demo.
Blat and Clean are modules for better articulation, of the ilk of envelope generators. Blat is aimed for breath or wind controller players to make more assertive dynamics; Clean is aimed at keyboard, sequence and automated players to allow sinuous but non-slushy lines: tenuto."

Blip! & Shell Demo - 2nd Modular Per-Note Sample Project - Mark Steiner

Blip! & Shell Demo - 2nd Modular Per-Note Sample Project - Mark Steiner from Mark Steiner on Vimeo.

Seahorses & Shells - Spiral Fibonacci Math Sounds within Analog Modular Synthesis.

"Demo of the Blip! and Shell: incredible, genius analog modules made by Fricko.

Slowing building a collection of sample instruments made by sampling every note in a range to bring the beautiful tones of exotic modules and patching methods to others.

At first doing these for the Logic Pro Sampler but will expand to others. In a way that is reachable to have these as they unfold.

This demo starts with a sample instrument using the Blip! module and some Steiner modules, and then explores these modules with direct playing into the modular system. See fricko.home.blog for info about Fricko modules. They are brilliant.

More info and sample instrument demos to come…"

Wind Synth Eurorack Demo

Jeff Hopkins

"Alright... putting together my first Eurorack setup.... These Fricko modules are amazing. Here's a short demo, with a saxy-ish patch.

00:00 - Start of demo
00:48 - Low register demo
01:13 - Mid/highish register demo
01:36 - Talk through of the setup

From left to right I have:
-OWP Custom module (instrument interface and power)
-Tiptop Audio MISO (Mix Invert Scale and Offset) utility
-Fricko Blip! (Pulse waveshaper)
-Fricko Shell (odd harmonic waveshaper thing)
-Pitsburgh SV-1b (Oscillators, Filter, mixer etc)
-Fricko Splice (Filtered combiner, takes highs from one source and mixes with low from the other)"

Impressive! Some additional notes:

* it uses his non-MIDI analog wind controller (very smooth!)
* it explains his rig
* it use my Fricko modules so the emphasis is on the cohesive variation of tone over the range of notes:

# Blip! waveshaper (constant breadth waves, like Variophon),
# Shell wavershaper (gappy waveshapes whose harmonics don't monotonically decrease in level),
# Splice combiner (36db/8ve reverse crossover, to give effect found in many wind instruments).

Analog Acoustic Modeling w/ Fricko Blip [Patch From Scratch]

Premiered Apr 3, 2020

"Modeling an acoustic sax/cello using an analog eurorack modular synth with the Fricko Blip module."

via Fricko

Waveshaper for “Pulse Forming Process”

Inspired by the constant-breadth pulses that vibrating lips make: such as double reed (oboe, cor anglais, bassoon), free-air reed (harmonic, harmonium) and brass (trumpet, trombone) instruments. Instruments with multiple pickups (clavinet, electric guitar) too! Allows CV modulation of pulse breadth. Lots of space between the fundamental and harmonics above 1kHz (variable).

Plus variable bass boost. Plus variable “sharkstooth” output.

Technical: Pulses variable from less than .1 ms to 5 ms. Modulation input allows breadth-variation

Physical: 4HP or 6HP wide, 50 mm deep, 16 pin power socket (10 pin can be used).

Power (Current): estimates +12V: < 20mA, -12V: <20mA, +5V < 20mA --- The Fricko Blip was first featured here back in July, 2019.
