I'm so grateful to have been a part of Moogfest 2018. It was great to hang a bit with lightbeams Emily Sprague, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and Sean Hellfritsch and to see some cats—like Waajeed and Jamire Williams—from my 'past life' as a guitarist in NYC. Thank you to Yoga After Dark and Modular on the Spot for having me.

It was an honor to play another MotS event, this time alongside Rodent, Peter Speer, Sarah Belle Reid, Jake Pugh, Jerry Kaba, and Lee Coleman. As with my first MotS experience, the vibe was one of immense support. It was so much fun to lead the audience through some air guitar moves. Truthfully, I don't know how that happened, but I'm glad it did. Thanks to all who participated!

And lastly, it was great to meet some of you IRL after my set. I also finally got to meet Richard Devine and talk shop (thanks to his wife and family for giving us some time to do so). Many thanks to Iain Smith for helping to cart my gear up the hill to the car.

"We ventured down to Durham, NC for Moog's annual celebration of music, conversation, and musical devices! Here's a recap of our booth scene in the Modular Marketplace.

We brought along a prototype of the forthcoming ONDA! A fully programmable instrument, kind of like the Organelle but a little different... It has multi-colored light-up keys, a built-in speaker and microphone, and battery power for easy use on the go.

All the visuals at our booth were made with the ETC. All sounds made in this video were made at Moogfest, using the ONDA, Organelle, Kaleidoloop and rain.

"This is my first patch with the MoogFest 2018 Sub-Harmonicon.
I just used a bit of background noise reduction to take away the noise of the large classroom we were in... Many thanks to the people at Moog music, everyone that helps make the MoogFest possible and a Mega-Ultra-Gigantic Thanks to Steve Dunnington for all his hard work. Thanks bro!

The Moog Sub-harmonicon is a combination of two electronic instruments.

To top off the release we partnered with The Lot Radio to livestream musical performances and interviews from Moogfest artists directly from our flagship location over the course of 3 days. "In this video we get to know the people and process behind building Moog's new Grandmother synth, as well as get a taste of what it sounds like.

Like Moog's Mother-32, Grandmother is a semimodular analog synthesizer. But Grandmother has a few new tricks up her sleeve: a classic spring reverb (we get to see the spring in this video!), two oscillators, faithful reproductions of Moog's vintage modular components, hard sync, a keyboard and more.

In this video I test the sounds of a few of these new components, as well as get a factory tour for an inside look on how Grandmother is built. Moog relocated Grandmother's production line from Ashville to Durham for Moogfest."

Sensory Percussion w/ DFAM live at Moogfest 2018

"I've been really excited about using Sensory Percussion to control / play / interact with a modular set up. Stoked to have the opportunity to demonstrate some of my ideas alongside Sunhouse at Moogfest this year.

This is a short piece I performed to demo some possibilities. My goal was not just to play some synths on the side while using SP, but to really blend the craft of drumming and synthesis. I'm using MIDI from Sensory Percussion, translating it to CV, and using that to play the DFAM.

Translated to CV, the Controls from Sensory Percussion (timbre, velocity, speed) become modulation sources. I'm using those modulators to control VCO EG, VCF EG, VCA EG, and VCO pitch on the Moog DFAM.

I'm also using modulation from Sensory Percussion to navigate the Make Noise Rene. The quantized pitch out from Rene is getting summed with different Midi Note values from the rim tip and rim shoulder of the snare via Make Noise Maths, allowing me to flexibly modulate the sequence every time I go to a new chord."

Touché & Moog - Expressive E Coming to Moogfest 2018

To promote Expressive E's presence at the 2018 edition of the Moogfest, and to showcase the collaborative possibilities of Touché and Moog products, this video demonstrates some great sounds created using Touché connected to classic synthesizers from the Moog range.

Thanks to built-in USB, CV and MIDI connections, Touché can be tightly integrated to both hardware and software synths, as shown in the video with a Subsequent 37, the Model D iOS app, and a DFAM, all from Moog.

This video also lets us see a custom wooden skin for Touché, labeled with a golden “Moogfest 2018” logo on it. This custom skin will be available as an add-on for each purchase of a Touché at the Moogfest - Units will be available on sale, at the “Modular Marketplace” inside the festival."

"Tinkering with the Moog Grandmother Moogfest 2018 edition; sorry for the level changes, routed audio directly into camera. This handful of minutes tinkering around demonstrates a wide range of sounds with the default circuits and controls in place, but I feel like I barely scratched the surface of what's possible. Sturdy construction, great feeling full-size keys. The instruction manual, which I cracked after making this video, is super helpful. Can't wait to get this rolling with my other mod and semi-mod synths. Love the easy to read labels and knobs worth a thousand words."
