けいおん![K-ON!] OP - {HD}
YouTube via steel2nd. via Rob. KORG Triton.
"Opening theme of the anime K-ON! HIGH DEFINITION"
Updates via the comments:
via Babaluma:
"this is a fantastic new anime in japan, it's not just the keyboards but all the instruments which are real. check the les paul, etc.
"keion" means "light music" in japanese, and most high schools have a keion club where the girls meet to play rock, pop and punk music. at my school they are quite a popular club, and in the future i am hoping to help some of the bands get some decent recordings."
via the world of next tuesday:
"Every band member in the anime just happens to have the same last name as a 1980s member of legendary technopop band P-MODEL. No real explanation, obviously someone's in-joke.
Over the years lots of old Korg, Roland System 700, Sequential, EMS, custom stuff, solar powered MS-20 and genuine female fans."

"Speed Tube by P-MODEL. There is an interview at the end of the music. Hirasawa-shi speaks!"

1970s Cracked Magazine

"I received several old issues of Cracked Magazine over the holidays and I couldn’t help noticing how one humor piece, predicting life in the 21st Century, was surprisingly accurate."

TB-303 Reference in Ghost in the Shell

"Here's a screenshot from an episode of Ghost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex (the anime series, no the movie) with a nod to the legendary TB-303!!!
I find it really cool! There's probaby a synth fan like us on the series production ;D
More info."
Note: also see Iron Man. I created a comics label for these. Yes Ghost in the Shell is manga and anime, but I'm not going to make people click on different labels for these. If anyone remembers any prior posts I put up or other examples, feel free to comment below or send them in.

The Packrat - Bad JU JU
I'm sad to say that this could be the last Packrat strip for some time. This is the last strip for Keyboard magazine and David C. Lovelace plans to put the rat on hold for a bit while he focuses on other projects. Title link takes you to the rest of the Packrat toons. Make sure to track up to the root of David's site for more of his brilliant work. Thanks for some great Packrat toons David. I will definitely miss the sneaky little rat. The Keyboard Player Cartoon
In from Dave on Synth Sights. Click through for a bigger image you can actually read. One thing, at least we don't have that ear piercing guitar feedback. Or do we? : )
Hi there,
Figured y'all would get a kick out of this scan from a 1989 book
called "The Rock Musician's Survival Guide" about keyboard players.
As we all know, around 1989 us keyboard players were enjoying their
final days on Earth as respectable members of the human race. I blame
this book for our collective downfall in the few short years after it
was printed.
Just kidding. It's funny crap (out of print, too...so we get the last
laugh). Enjoy!
--Dave
