Moog One Demos by Orano Music

This one was spotted and sent in via Soviet Space Child.

Playlist:

1. Moog One 16 - My take on Tangerine Dream's "Love on a real train"
Again, just playing around in first couple of weeks owning the Moog One, if you like a single Synth unit that will take you on a Journey, they do not come much better than this.
2. Moog One - Has a Big Sound! ... A Very BIG Sound!
Preset made from scratch, detuned oscillators, throwing some FM into the mix. this uses synth 1 and synth 2 on the Moog One, each Synth Panned left / Right to give more stereo Width to the patch.
3. Moog One 16 - Lost in another patch
More Playing around in getting lost in patch creation, by far the most enjoyable programming experience I've had in any synth.
4. Moog One - Attempting CS80 Chariots of Fire
CS80 is legendary for good reason, its the best I could get without sitting for Hours analysing the original and tweaking the moog to try. I put a little beat detune on modulation wheel for the 3 oscillators used to create the main lead synth, it was getting close, but not close enough :) Everything with exception of Piano was sequenced live from Moog One 16.
5. Moog One - Preset Building - JMJ Oxygen
Another Preset Programmed on the Moog One 16, I have thrown various challenges at the synth in the first 10 days of owning and it has yet to fail at recreation of most sonic challenges I have tried.
6. War of the Ones
War of the Worlds Inspired Patch, using the Moog one 16.
7. Moog One - A Variation of Sonic Capabilities
This is a short vid, (no talking) just running through a few of the patches I have made in the first week of owning the synth.
8. Moog One - First Day
My First play on the moog one 16, absolutely loving it so far! no processing with this at all, straight from synth to soundcard. Onboard effects in the Moog utilised,
9. Moog One 16 - Arpeggio - Sound design.
3 Oscillators, 1 Synced, and Synced Osc is also used for FM. Mod wheel Opens Dual filters and also adjusts Filter EG Release,
Stereo delay and Eventide Verb used, no external processing, All Moog! :)

Moog One's Effects & Eventide's Founder Richard Factor on meeting Bob Moog

Eventide's Founder Richard Factor on meeting Bob Moog

Published on Oct 9, 2018 Eventide Audio

"We are excited to announce that a suite of premium Eventide reverbs is included in the new Moog One analog poly synth from Moog Music Inc. In this excerpt from Gear Club Podcast, Eventide founder Richard Factor talks about his first encounter with Bob Moog."

And the press release from Eventide:

"Eventide Develops Suite of Reverbs for New Flagship Analog Poly Synth — Moog’s First in 30 Years

October 9, 2018 — Eventide announced today that is has provided a suite of premium reverbs for the highly anticipated Moog One analog poly synth from Moog Music, Inc. Long-rumored to be in development, but cloaked in secrecy until just this week, the new flagship instrument is Moog’s first analog poly synth in over 30 years, and has created considerable excitement in the industry.

In addition to its classic subtractive synthesis architecture of analog oscillators, filters, envelopes, and amplifiers, the new instrument incorporates digital effects, with Eventide’s world-class reverbs being a significant and noteworthy part of the package. The five Eventide effects included with the Moog One are: Room, Hall, and Plate, which provide the three most essential and desirable reverb environments, along with Shimmer and Blackhole, which add unique and evocative reverberant effects that are particularly well suited to creative sound design on the synthesizer. Each effect has multiple parameters that can be used to sculpt its characteristics in detail.

Eventide’s Tony Agnello described his excitement at being part of the instrument’s development: “My partner Richard Factor and I have long been admirers of Bob Moog, the man, and Moog Music, the company. For Bob, it was always about the music and the artist. We’re proud to have Eventide effects included as a standard feature in the new flagship, Moog One. Working with Cyril Lance and the Moog development team was a true pleasure. We’re especially heartened to know that Bob’s spirit lives on in the DNA of Moog Music and that a tiny bit of Eventide DNA has now been spliced in.”

Moog Music’s Chief Engineer Cyril Lance added: “The Moog One was developed to explore new possibilities in the design of a polyphonic analog synthesizer. Eventide’s world-class reverb technology was a perfect fit for the Moog One, and a fitting continuation of a relationship started years ago between Eventide Engineer Tony Agnello and Bob Moog. Eventide’s breathtaking Room, Hall, Plate, Shimmer, and Blackhole effects are standards for professional musicians and modern studios, and their inclusion in the Moog One is a wonderful addition to the instrument’s vast sonic potential.”

The Moog One is expected to begin shipping this month and will be available in 8- and 16-voice versions. It features 3 newly-designed analog VCOs, 2 independent analog filters, a dual-source analog noise generator, analog mixer with external audio input, 4 LFOs, and 3 envelopes. The instrument is tri-timbral and can split, layer, and stack voices. In addition to its many front-panel controls, a center-panel LCD allows easy access to additional parameters."

The Soul of Moog One: Custom Sounds

video upload by Synth Universe

"A musical exploration of Moog One featuring custom-created patches from five years of owning and using this monster synth.

Does it have a characteristic sound? What are its sweet spots? How does its sound compare to the Moog Muse? I hope this video will help to answer those questions.

With the Moog One discontinued and the release of the Moog Muse, I figured it was a good time to make these videos. The Moog One has at times been misunderstood and maligned. It didn't offer the sonic 'instant gratification' of some other classic synths because in a way it's in a category all by itself. It takes time to figure out how to get the best out of it, but when you do, it's one of the most powerful, musically rewarding and inspiring synths ever made.

All the sounds you hear in this video were created by me on the Moog One 16 voice and include poly synths, pads, strings, ambient, soundscapes, keys, brasses, leads, bass and chimes.

Any effects you hear on the sounds in this video are internal to Moog One. I mainly use delay and reverb and several patches use no FX at all. I generally do not use the chorus and modulation effects as they colour the sound too much (in fact my main use of the chorus effect is set at 0% mix to add gain to patches). No external processing was applied.

*** If you are a Moog One owner, all the sounds in this video and many more will soon be available to purchase as part of the Synth Universe Moog One Sound Banks."

MOOG ONE SYNTHESIZER | Sounds, presets & ambient soundscapes 【SYNTH DEMO】

Published on Jan 5, 2019 synth4ever

"Moog One (16-voice) polyphonic analog synth demo featuring presets, sounds and ambient soundscapes -- including pads, arpeggiators, sequencer, leads, textures and drones. All sounds and effects are directly from the Moog One analog synthesizer, with no external processing other than some slight noise reduction.

The Moog One is Moog's first polyphonic analog synth in over 30 years. Available in 8-voice and 16-voice models, the Moog One’s polyphonic sound engine features the most powerful synthesizer architecture ever developed for a Moog instrument.

The Moog one has 3 newly-designed analog VCOs (triangle core w/ tri, saw and pulse waveshapes), with independent waveshaping per VCO, oscillator sync, ring mod, oscillator & filter FM, 2 independent multimode resonant analog filters (State Variable: HP, LP, BP, Notch... Ladder: LP, HP), a dual-source analog noise generator (red, white, purple) and an analog mixer.

It also has external audio input, 4 LFOs, 3 envelopes, an arpeggiator, sequencer, built-in Eventide effects, extensive modulation matrix, 61-note keyboard with aftertouch, XY-pad, and is 3-part mulitimbral for creative splits, layers and performances.

The Moog one is the culmination of Moog's research and development over a number of years to produce their most advanced polyphonic synthesizer yet. The Moog One has the ability to create vast ambient soundscapes, cutting leads, lush pads, deep bass, brash brass and complex harmonic textures."

Caught In Joy's Moog One Presets Pack Vol. 1

video upload by Caught In Joy

"The Moog One is often considered a "king of polysynths" due to several factors that make it highly regarded among synthesizer enthusiasts, it clearly stands out due to its unparalleled sound quality, achieved through the use of analog circuitry and high-quality components. Its three discrete analog VCOs per voice, along with powerful filters and modulation options, enable a vast sonic potential, allowing musicians to create rich, expressive sounds across a wide range of genres. Its versatility and depth make it a highly coveted instrument among professional musicians and sound designers.

Moog One to me is a real king of the unique sonic landscapes. Through my sound design choices and experimentation, I created presets that explore new sonic territories, revisit the old ones and push the boundaries of what the Moog One can do. By combining different synthesis techniques, modulation routings, and unconventional settings, you can uncover unique and captivating sounds that are not typically found in factory presets.

I hope these distinctive sonic landscapes will make your feel special and will inspire you to compose more music.

Here are 59 custom presets and patches for the Moog One (many of the patches consist of more than one layer/timbral, so there's actually way more than 59)."

Moog One Ambient & Soundscapes

video upload by Synth Universe

"Here I play a selection of custom atmospheric sounds on the Moog One, highlighting its strength as a synth for creating ambient music and soundscapes. All the sounds were created by me and range from gentle layered pads, through resonant chimes to dark ambient textures and soundscapes.

The Moog One has three completely independent synth layers which makes it a wonderful synth for creating complex and evolving sounds, yet still retaining its analog character. The modulation options are so comprehensive and when used carefully they allow for deep movement and dynamics.

In this video I am mainly improvising, using the performance controls on Moog One such as the mod wheel, XY pad, expression pedals, velocity and aftertouch to create further movement and variation. Any effects you hear on the sounds in this video are internal to Moog One - mainly delay and reverb. No external processing was applied.

If you are a Moog One owner, all the patches you hear in this video are available to purchase as part of the Synth Universe Moog One Sound Banks Volumes 1 & 2:

Moog One Sound

Published on Apr 12, 2020 Boele Gerkes

Playlist:

1. Moog One Sound #1
So... after more than a year of doubts, I finally dared to purchase a Moog One, and the thing goes beyond my wildest dreams...

This first recording is a simple two oscillator sound, where I modulate the wave shape of oscillator 1 and 2 (saw/sine) with a random shaped LFO and the pitch with another saw tooth shaped LFO. A little delay from the One does the rest.

You can easily get in 'Cortini'-territory if you like: Buchla-esque types of sounds. Not in the last place because of the incredible musical envelopes with all their stage curve shaping possibilities.

But also because of the character of the oscillators. WELL done Moog!
2. Moog One Sound #2
This one is a bit more experimental. It's three arps not synced to master clock and all three running at a slightly different speed. :)
I start with arp 1 on solo, then 2, then 3, then all three.
3. Moog One Sound #3
Allright, the last one for today: this is a more conventional arp sound, both synced to the master clock. Two layers with the same sound however one of them 1 octave up. Arp play mode is "random" on both layers. Dotted delay does the rest. There is a slight part of ring modulation in the mixer. The ring modulator is pure heaven by the way.

Moog One 16 voice - tuning problems

Published on May 1, 2019 Monty

"About 30 minutes after power up, my Moog One VCO2 and VCO3 completely lose their tuning. Not just a frequency offset, but great variation up the scale and across voices.

The video shows a comparison between VCO3 then VCO2 then VCO1. Finally they are played at once.

I contacted Moog Support about this 3 days ago. No answer yet, but let's see what they have to say..."

Moog One 16 voice - tuning problems (as good as my unit gets)

Published on May 1, 2019 Monty

"This video demonstrates Moog One tuning variation over time, voices, and position on keyboard.
This is as GOOD AS IT GETS with my unit - noticeable fractions of a semitone in error. See my other video to see what can happen when tuning goes completely wrong:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lnor...

Details for those who care:
- The unit was powered up about 10 minutes before the recording start. Long after the video completed, the tuning variation persisted. This isn't just a "wait until it warms up" problem.
- Firmware is v1.0.4. A fresh "user space" was created as per Moog Support instructions
- The sound is just the init preset (press shift+compare) with OSC2 and OSC3 added in parallel. You are hearing all three oscillators playing in unison"

Moog One tuning issues: Update - RESOLVED??

Published on May 4, 2019 Monty

"This video demonstrates my discovery that the Moog One can be put permamently out of tune (until reboot) by loading patches with seemingly invalid OSC frequency offset parameters. These parameters cannot be dialled in from the UI, but can occur if users make patches based on original factory ones. I think Moog know about this (hence their recommended "create a new User Space" fix to tuning issues) but I have never seen it explained before.
For me, this issue has interacted with more subtle tuning problems which appear to have been solved in a beta firmware release Moog Support have issued me (an update beyond the current 1.0.4)
I apologise for the poor picture and sound quality - this is just a quick smartphone video."

Moog One Presets A-C (no talking, no room mic)

Published on Oct 26, 2018 Synthient Sound

"Moog One presets from 1892 Horror Film to Clavinott. More preset videos to come!

The Moog One was recorded from its outputs straight into a Focusrite Clarett 2Pre into my Macbook running Logic Pro X and combined with the video in iMovie. There are no room mics going or talking.

No effects (compression, EQ, reverb, etc) were used outside of the Moog One. I made no attempt to balance volumes, so you hear them as they are. I just noodled, playing a little bit of each preset, then using the Mod Wheel and X/Y Pad to see what they did. I hope you enjoy!"

MOOG Sonic Six

Click here for shots via this auction.

"The Moog Sonic 6 (also Sonic VI and Sonic Six) is a duophonic analog synthesizer that was manufactured by Moog Music from 1974 to 1979. The Sonic 6 is the result of Moog Music's acquisition of the company Musonics, which had previously made a synthesizer called the Sonic V.

The Sonic 6 is mounted in its own briefcase; the upper control panel folds and latches over the keyboard to ease transportation and storage. This feature was used by a number of synthesizer manufacturers of the time, however the Sonic 6 was Moog Music's only product that incorporated this into its design. The Sonic 6 is also the only Moog synthesizer that featured built-in speakers rather than requiring the user to use an external amplifier.

The Sonic 6 features two VCOs with changeable waveform (sawtooth, triangle, square, pulse), one low-pass VCF, a VCA, two multimode LFOs for modulation and a 49-note keyboard.

The Sonic Six is an uncommon Moog of wonderful sound and amazing versatility. It very definitely has a “discrete” analog sound, despite the fact that it is most likely an IC synth like most of the synths of the seventies. It's very warm and buzzy and reminiscent of early seventies monosynths.

The Sonic Six was based on Waytena's Musonics Sonic V. When Musonics bought Moog, they sold the Sonic V as a Moog for awhile, and then redesigned it with some castoff Minimoog case designs, and called it the Sonic Six in 1972. It was intended to be the “educational Moog” which is why everything is labeled so bizarrely. Bob Moog himself used to tote one of these around for demonstrations. It is the first non-modular duophonic synth.

The Sonic Six is a two-oscillator duophonic synth. You can set it up so that it is duophonic, (two notes at a time... one oscillator takes high-note priority and one oscillator takes low note priority), monophonic (both oscs), or monophonic with a drone (one osc changes pitch, one does not). Available waveshapes are pulse (variable), saw, and triangle. The pitch of each oscillator can be controlled by dual LFO, one by contour, and the other by the other oscillator. You can adjust the temperament of the Sonic Six, to play scales that have less than 12 notes per octave! The Sonic Six has pink or white noise available with level adjustment.

The Dual LFO is AMAZING. You have control over the balance between the two LFOs. Each LFO has saw, reverse saw, triangle, and square waves available, driven by Envelope or the master LFO slider. Having two LFOs makes a lot of modulation and triggering possibilities available.

The Sonic Six has a genuine ring modulator which allows you to choose between OSC1 and the LFO for source. The ring modulator has a mix knob, and a direct out. The ring modulator and can create more than just the standard sound. It can generate surprisingly guitar-like distortion. Audio signals can be routed through the Moog filter and ring modulator via an external input.

Ah, the contour generator. If there was one weaker spot in the Moog Sonic Six design, this is it. It is simply a modified AR envelope generator. Decay is provided by a switch, offering long or short decay. Where the contour generator becomes cool again (and perhaps cooler than most) is when it allows you to choose what triggers the envelope. You can choose between the keyboard, LFO 1, or LFO 2... or any combination. This function allows you to do many cool things... especially when you've set the LFOs to trigger the synth, and have them on different waveforms at different frequencies. If you turn down the oscillators, turn up the noise generator, and get creative with the filter settings, you can create your own analog drum machine/loop generator.

The filter is a delightfully rich Moog filter with filter cutoff, resonance, KYBD switch, Env amount, and dual-LFO amount. Having the dual LFOs control the filter is a great sound.....you can easily generate unique sample and hold type effects.

The Sonic Six has direct oscillator/ring mod out control knobs. Basically, you can add a direct line from the oscillator to the final output, which REALLY fattens up the sound. Sadly, these outputs don't go through the ENV generator, so they are always on if you have them on, but still... it is a very useful tool for effects and fattening.

The Sonic Six has “glissando” which is actually portamento. This can be assigned to both oscillators or just one, depending on the setting. The Sonic Six has a built in speaker, as well as normal output. The speaker sounds great, and has its own distinctive sound. Many mic the built in speakers! It features control voltage inputs for VCO, VCF, and VCA. Of course, it has a pitch wheel, as well."
