"Step into the light. Aether is a collection of 40 exclusive performances for Korg Wavestate, woven from air, glass and morning sun. Imagine a luminous golden horizon, a sea of clouds drifting far below, crystal spheres floating weightlessly through an endless sky. This is the world these sounds were crafted to build around you.

At its heart are the pads: shimmering, slowly breathing, rising like first light over the clouds. They turn like light through a prism, drift like mist at dawn and bloom into soft harmonic halos. Around them, sequences and arpeggios sparkle in the spirit of the Berlin School and the golden age of 80s electronica, but on its bright side, where every pulse is a ray of sunlight rather than a shadow. Glass bells, silver plucks and tender leads complete the sky.

As a sound designer for Access Music, Native Instruments, and Modal Electronics, OttO K. Schwarz shaped every performance with one aim: sounds that feel weightless but never empty. Many performances are multi-layered, with evolving textures and melodic phrases that invite you to simply hold a chord and listen.

All presets are tuned for real-time expression: the modulation wheel and other assigned parameters open the sound like clouds parting, giving you intuitive control over several parameters at once. Whether you’re scoring a film, composing ambient or electronic music, guiding a meditation session or playing live, “Aether” offers a palette of sounds that are light, luminous and deeply musical.

"Someone has recreated the Modal COBALT8 in software… and this thing is seriously promising.

This is an early look at a 1:1 software emulation of the original COBALT8, developed with the help of AI and vibe coding by someone on the web.

At the moment it’s still pretty heavy on the CPU, so there’s definitely room for optimization — but sound-wise? It already sounds very, very good.

In this quick NO TALKING video I’m just taking it for a spin and checking out a few sounds.

"One practical note: listen to this on monitors or proper headphones. Most of what the machine does lives in the low end and in the stereo field, and laptop speakers will simply delete it. Loud is not necessary, full range is."

In short, AE Machine (estimated release date of October 2) consists of:

"Eleven synthesis voices built from scratch at sample level, five samplers, two free-running pads. A sequencer where a 16 × 16 Markov matrix decides which step may follow which, a note sieve that re-orchestrates the pattern when you transpose it, a chaotic modulation matrix reaching 271 parameters, morphing between any two presets, and a stem recorder that writes twenty-six files in one press. It runs in Max/MSP 9 on macOS and Windows, and playing it requires no paid Max license: an unlicensed copy of Max opens and runs the machine in full.

This is not commercial software in the ordinary sense. It is my working method, the environment I built night after night for my own music, packaged so that you can play it. When you get it, you are getting research: the reading, the listening, the failed versions, the decisions. The manual is a hundred pages and it is already here, whole, free to read. Trust your ears over any paragraph in it."
