"Passive bandpass filters are an obsession of mine, so it was just a question of time until AudioThing and me would make a plugin of the special subset called octave filters. Octaves is out on now: https://www.audiothing.net/effects/Oc...

"Hainbach’s Bandpass Filter
Octaves is our latest collaboration with Berlin-based composer and YouTuber Hainbach. It is a filter plugin designed to take apart the audio spectrum in spreads of octaves, allowing for unique and enchanting spectral sound design effects. Octaves gives you a retro-scientific approach to sound that echoes the timeless productions created in the BBC Radiophonic workshop or the WDR Studio für Elektronische Musik by the Avantgarde masters, and modern places like Willem Twee, Strøm, and Hainbach’s own laboratory.
Octaves is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux (VST2, VST3, AU, AAX, CLAP).
It’s also available on the App Store for iOS and iPadOS (AUv3 and Standalone).
"It has a new generative phrasing mode and a compressor for extra punch. The background noises are from my dirty recording, the output when you use it is crystal clear.
You can order one here:
https://www.tindie.com/products/39230/
The firmware is free for previous customers. If you purchased an OMNICYCLONE, send me a message with your name, mail and order number for me to send you this latest version."
"New firmware for OMNICYCLONE. It fixes a bug in the clock in of the previous release. It´s free for all OC users, if you have one, send us a message with your name/order number and mail to send you the update.
Clock in/out were swapped, this firmware fixes it too, now IN is IN and OUT is OUT :)
Rob Papen announces availability of DelGrain as creative granular delay, extending effect plug-in product line with yet more out-of-the-box thinking
ECHT, THE NETHERLANDS: virtual instrument and effect plug-in developer Rob Papen Inspiration Soundware is proud to announce availability of DelGrain — duly thinking out of the box to extend its effect plug-in product line as a creative granular delay featuring fanciful routings, a distortion feature, and FILTER, while also featuring the same DISRUPT spherical slider shared by its DelSane (stereo delay demonstrating ‘Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’ behaviour) and LowSane (‘lo-fi’ sound sculpting-specialising effect) software siblings, aimed at experimental artists, mixers, and producers — as of November 28…
It is fair to say that DelGrain has a lot in common with its DelSane software sibling, the main difference obviously being that — as its name implies — it offers a delay that plays back audio in a granular or grainy way. With that in mind, then, the granular change to the audio can be placed ahead of the delay, inside the delay, or parallel to the delay. But better still, the size of the ‘grains’ can be adjusted (GRAIN SIZE) — even in a tempo-based way, the length of the ‘grains’ (GRAIN LEN) can be be tempo-based as well, while the GRAIN SEMI tune feature has a 12-semitone range, both up and down; by being tempo-based, the granular delay itself is ideally suited to rhythmic usage on drums and percussion loops.
Reveals Rob Papen himself — both in his capacity as a virtual instrument and effect plug-in developer par excellence and also as his namesake company’s Managing Director: “DelGrain can produce some sweet-sounding delays with swirly granular sound, but its real power lies in its special sounds — not only on drums and percussion, but also on vocals, for instance. Its DISRUPT sphere with the tempo-based SPRING BACK feature allows you to change DelGrain’s parameters dynamically, and there is also a tempo-based LAZY MODE…” — meaning that the movement of that DISRUPT spherical slider can be automated in different directions, allowing users to also create new types of creative modulation sounds.
Speaking of creative sounds, Rob Papen saw fit to add a FILTER featuring a high-pass and low-pass combination, a band-pass filter, and a vocal/vowel filter that can be placed after the delay/granular combination at different spots. But before the audio even enters the granular delay, an added distortion module makes the sound options even more exciting.
Evidently excited by his namesake company’s latest creation, Rob Papen takes pride in rattling off several more exciting-sounding features that floats his creative boat by adding, “There is a self-explanatory DRY/WET MIX dial and an FX MIX dial that can mix between the ‘granular delay’ and ‘tape delay’ sounds — by the way, the ‘delay’ inside DelGrain is based on a tape delay algorithm; an AUDIO FOLLOWER input is available for side-chain control, and it can also be used to control the DISRUPT sphere; there are four different modulation slots for those who want to control DelGrain via MIDI; and last, but by no means least, DelGrain comes with the BANK MANAGER and many presets — perfect as a starting point.”
Put it this way: while it is understandable that some might take the idea of another delay plug-in promising to be different to so many others already out there with a GRAIN of salt — pun intended, it would be surely seriously remiss of Rob Papen not to assure them that DelGrain definitely delivers on that well-worn claim!
DelGrain is available — as a 64-bit AAX-, AU-, VST-, and VST3-compatible virtual instrument plug-in for Mac (OS X 10.15 or higher, ARM processor compatible) and as a 64-bit VST- and VST3-compatible virtual instrument plug-in for PC (Windows 7 or higher) with 64-bit AAX compatibility available for PT 12 or higher (PC) — at an attractive price of only €35.00 EUR/$35.00 USD from authorised Rob Papen dealers worldwide or as a download directly from Rob Papen for that same price via its dedicated webpage, which also features more in-depth information, here: https://www.robpapen.com/DelGrain.html
DelGrain is included in eXplorer-10 (https://www.robpapen.com/explorer-10.html), the latest version of Rob Papen’s all-encompassing bundle, at no additional cost; existing owners only have to download the latest installer and run it to add WirePluck to their Rob Papen virtual instrument and effect plug-in collection.
This time I’m diving into something a little different again — biofeedback music! I paired the new @instruo Pocket Scion with the Torso S4, and the Pocket Scion is running three MIDI channels on the S4. For this session, I hooked it up to a rosemary plant, letting it capture the plant’s biofeedback and translate it into sound.
The result? Dreamy, spherical tones straight from this beautiful plant.
Hope you enjoy the vibe!
"OMNICYCLONE is a unique take on generative synthesizers. It's primarily focused on percussive phrases, but it can also create melodic content.
At its core lies a Yamaha OPL2 emulator that has been extensively modified to achieve things the original chips couldn't – like a fully stereo image and a complete revamp of sonic possibilities.
We've taken some of the most interesting features from WINTERMUTE, expanded the emulator further, and hybridized them with OPERA ROTAS features to birth a new generative beast that sounds surprisingly retro and modern at the same time.

At its core lies an OPL2 emulator that has been extensively modified to achieve things the original Yamaha chips couldn't – like a fully stereo image. Some Yamaha chips of that era only offered hard-panned stereo (just center, left, or right). OMNICYCLONE provides 256 possible stereo positions, which sounds probably awesome.
We've taken some of the most interesting features from WINTERMUTE, expanded the emulator further, and hybridized them with OPERA ROTAS features to birth a new generative beast that sounds surprisingly retro and modern at the same time.
In this new incarnation, we've added volume bars for each channel, providing a clearer visual understanding of what's happening under the hood.
The synth is controlled by 2 banks of parameters, plus a fully-featured global LFO and global parameters for controlling each of the ADSR stages. It also includes a variety of new generative strategies that are explained in the manual.
OMNICYCLONE runs on the Fluorine hardware, meaning you can flash Fluorine's other firmwares (there are 4 different ones to choose from) in addition to the OMNICYCLONE firmware. This gives you multiple synths in one piece of hardware.
There's also a new firmware that turns the Fluorine hardware into a USB MIDI Controller with 2 banks of potentiometers. This means you essentially have multiple synths plus a MIDI controller in one device
The OMNICYCLONE firmware is closed source. Existing Fluorine users can order the digital files to easily switch between their other Fluorine firmwares and the OMNICYCLONE firmware. The USB MIDI Controller firmware is also free for Fluorine users, but the OMNICYCLONE firmware has a small fee to support its development.
"NRSynth poursuit sa quête du son analogique de l'âge d'or des Moog modulaires, ARP et autres trésors du passé, et présente sa nouveauté 2025: le Solo, recréation du mythique module SEM d'Oberheim."

"NRSynth continues its quest for the analog sound of the golden age of modular Moogs, ARPs and other treasures of the past, and presents its new 2025 product: the Solo, a recreation of the legendary Oberheim SEM module."
"Offers a brand new way of finding the optimal sound. By rotating a sphere that consists of more than 70 professionally created states anyone can dial in the perfect sound. In addition to the sphere, a ping-pong delay and a few more global settings are available.
SyndtSphere is based on the more traditional polyphonic synthesizer Syndt (also available on the App Store).
Features:
• AUv3 Compatible - use it as a plugin inside Garageband or any other AUv3 compatible host app.
• High quality internal audio engine.
• Stereo ping-pong delay
• Optional legato mode with glide speed setting."
"Just a quick jamming of WINTERMUTE vs PO-32 (out of screen) to taste how good they sound together. Recorded live with the levels a bit too hot, so it distorts in some points.
WINTERMUTE is a generative FM synth/drum machine based on some Yamaha FM chips but taking the concept further ind bring its sound to the present
To control it it has 6 potentiometers and 3 buttons. The pots are:
-TEMPO. It controls the tempo/speed.
-BASE REGISTER. It determines if the machine is more musical or glichy. Better left it around 3 o'clock position for more musical results. Turning it to the center and left side produces more noisy/glitchy and chaotic outputs. You have been prevented!
-INTENSITY. The higher this pot, the more amount of notes and percusions sounding. This is a very playable way of alter the generative composition by transitioning between the simple and complex sound patterns.
-SEQUENCE. It let you browse between sequences. Turn it to select random patterns.
-DISPERSION. the higher this pot, the most registers that we are writing on the chip, so the sequences get more complex and chaotic. This and intensity are a very playable pair and both are related. Once you tuned something that you like, try to do variations playing this pot and INTENSITY one.
-COMBINATION. It multiplex, demultiplex and recombines sequences, keeping the output related but always fresh and different. At minimun it produces a 16 step sequence. At maximun it produces a 8 steps sequence. Between is where the magic happens, and it recombines and produce generative patterns via bitshifting and logic operations of the sequences.
It has 3 buttons, Left, Right and Reset. Reset is located in the arduino and is self explanatory. If you have been playing in the BASE REG pot center/left side and it has turned too chaotic or noisy, just put BASE REG pot around 3 o'clock and press reset. It will come back to more musical landscapes.
Left and Right buttons are to be determined as the firmware is still in development.
It has Clock In and Clock Out so you can synch it with external gear. To accept external clock set TEMPO pot at minimun."
"WINTERMUTE is an intriguing creation—a hybrid of drum machine, groove box, and experimental generative synth. While its nature defies classification, its intuitive design makes it super accessible, allowing users to craft unique loops, crescendos, and even complete sessions with ease.
At its heart lies a 4-Operator FM engine, drawing inspiration from the iconic Yamaha chips found in classic arcade machines and consoles.
However, WINTERMUTE adds its own creative twists, pushing the boundaries of sound design and exploration.

This one is more polyphonic and melodic. It has longer decays and some differences in the way you play it. The Y pot is used this time to adjust the amount of longer decays.
Currently Wintermute has 6 firmwares to choose from and new ones that will be publishing. All free for Wintermute customers.
If you have an ONO-SENDAI and wants to get the pack of Wintermute firmwares send us a message to get it as a digital download. It costs 30€ and you get also the future WM updates that will be appearing.

"WINTERMUTE is a strange and unique sounding generative synth. This are a bunch of audio demos of the latest firmware 1.2.4
This update also does Clock In and Clock Out, so you can sync it with external gear.
There are currently 2 official firmwares and 2 or 3 "non official" experimental ones, all are available when you get one of this machines and you can flash one or the other as the mood of the day.
You can get a WINTERMUTE (Black Edition) in our Tindie and web stores:
"This are demo snippets for the 1.2 Firmware. In the coming videos we will demo the MUSICA BOX firmware that has a more melodical feeling and some slight control differences.
//
We are prelaunchin WINTERMUTE.
This is a special edition that is compatible with ONO-SENDAI, so ordering this you have a WINTERMUTE and a ONO-SENDAI, as the same machine can execute both firmwares.
This edition is limited and currently only 25 units remain. Once all have been sold, the next ones wont be retro compatible with ONO-SENDAI, so catch this ones while they last.
The unit is BLACK, not purple as the one of this demo, we will update the photos in the ordering page in hours/days.
Once we produce the normal edition, we will change some hardware bits and this prelaunch version will have limited updates in time.
You can order it already in Tindie and in our webpage.
Our webpage has an additional free shipping over 100€ during this month.
"This is the first alternative firmware for WINTERMUTE. It´s called Music Box and it´s more focused in melodies as opposite of the regular one that is more rithmic/IDM in nature.
So WINTERMUTE already ships with 2 firmwares and will get more as time happens.
