Fable Sounds™ Ships Broadway Big Band Kontakt 4 Player Edition

"Acclaimed developer announces immediate availability of new Kontakt 4-powered version of their flagship product.

SONiVOX® on behalf of Fable Sounds™ today announced the immediate availablity of the latest version of the critically acclaimed Broadway Big Band™ virtual Instrument for MAC and PC.

Fable Sounds’ Broadway Big Band™ Virtual Instrument upon its original release was widely hailed as the first and only virtual instrument to accurately portray contemporary jazz, blues, pop, and r’n’b woodwind, brass, and rhythm instrument’s playing techniques in a playable virtual instrument plugin, and since has been used in countless high-profile film, tv, album, multimedia, theater, and live concert applications.

By integrating the Broadway Performer™ technology directly into the Kontakt 4 Player via Kontakt’s powerful scripting engine, this new version of Broadway Big Band is designed to simplify use as well as add greater control over expressiveness. Now for the first time Broadway Big Band™ users will be able to use Broadway directly in their DAW environment without having to use any virtual midi cabling or more elaborate midi routing, allowing for a more stable and easy to use workflow. “Though the heart of Broadway remains much the same, with its over 140,000 samples, its new implementation, based on the recent technological developments, is entirely revamped and puts a much greater degree of power, flexibility, as well as accessibility in the users hands,” commented Yuval Shrem, co-founder of Fable Sounds™.

Fable Sounds™ is offering a special cross-grade price for registered users who wish to cross-grade to the new Kontakt 4 Player Edition of Broadway Big Band. This upgrade is available directly through SONiVOX® as well as SONiVOX’s international distribution partners. More information including pricing and availability can be found at www.sonivoxmi.com

Broadway Big Band Kontakt 4 Edition is available for purchase at www.sonivoxmi.com as well as SONiVOX® dealers everywhere with an MSRP of $2495

Eigenlabs Eigenharp: Hear It, Know It, Love It

YouTube via gearwire — April 15, 2010 — "Understanding the potential of something as sophisticated and multi-faceted as the Eigenlabs Eigenharp can be overwhelming at first blush. To really help us wrap our feeble brains around this unique instrument we enlisted the help of developer and Eigenlabs founder James Lambert.

Mr. Lambert talks a little about the surprisingly long history of this new-to-the-market instrument, and does an impressive job detailing all its most important functions and features in under eight minutes. You also get to see and hear the Eigenharp Alpha and Eigenharp Pico in action in this, the most efficient Gearwire tradeshow video ever created."

Korg Wavedrum: We Get All Handsy With It At AES

YouTube via gearwire — April 15, 2010 — "The reborn Korg Wavedrum got a lot of attention at AES, but we were still able to get a some close-up video of this retro-gem in action. Korg rep James Sajeva gave us the skinny on the differences between sampling and modeling (the Wavedrum specializes in the latter), as well as what the probable street price of the new model is going to be."

Polyphonic front end

YouTube via organfairy — April 15, 2010 —

"I am about to record a demo with my newly constructed mini modular analogue synthesizer. But I intend to blend in some chords too which the synthesizer should process.

To generate the chords I am going to use this little organ or polyphonic front-end that I made some years ago. The idea is the same as in the Paia Oz/Gnome duo: An organ-like instrument provides the chords and the actual synthesizer gives the chords their timbre and volume.

The music in this video is played on the Technics SX-C600 organ and the Roland SH-2000 synthesizer.

Sorry about the sketchy half-finished schematics in this video. When I made the mini organ I didn't know that I was going to present it in a video."
