Yamaha CS 5 analog monophonic synth

via this auction

"Quite a simple monophonic synth very capable of making some fat basslines. . Has a very nice filter resonance and an excellent slow to very fast LFO which goes right into the audio range."

Roland RS 101 String synthesizer

via this auction

"String sound of the 70's A great sounding analog string synth with an easy to use front control panel and containing the great roland ensemble sound used in so many roland synths of this era. Although unlike the later rs-202 it lacks controls over the ensemble effect (ie it is simply on all the time)."

"Livid Block Molar VST Tutorial'

I was lucky enough to sit with Augustine Verrengia aka "ONE4ALL" a budding electronic music producer/dj who resides in Austin Texas. ONE4ALL shows us how he uses the LIVID BLOCK midi controller and the free VST "MOLAR" inside of Ableton Live to make live remixes and sound creation. MOLAR has become increasingly popular thanks to high profile artists like "Pretty Lights" using the program. Once only for the Monome controllers it now works with the LIVID controllers as well. Utilizing the 64 button LED grid you can visually trace the path of the music and manipulate it in real time with a ton of different options. ONE4ALL has been kind enough to include his MOLAR preset and ABLETON LIVE project for download to help you get started.

Production Room - Korg Monotron Analog Ribbon Synthesizer

YouTube via productionroom | July 13, 2010

"Powered by two alkaline AAA batteries, the compact monotron can be held in one hand. Although small enough to easily carry with you, the amazing monotron is packed with KORGs legendary analog technology, generating thick and powerful sounds. Concentrating on the most important sound parameters, the controls have been streamlined as much as possible. The panel contains only five knobs and one switch. With this level of simplicity, now anyone can easily enjoy the world of analog synthesizers.

Borrowing the enjoyment of performing with a simple touch from Korgs wildly popular KAOSS products, the monotrons ribbon controller keyboard takes this ease of use even farther. Simple finger gestures can produce expressive effects such as vibrato and glide. Used in a band, you can expand your possibilities by harmonizing with another instrument or taking center stage for a monotron solo!

The monotrons circuit is radically simple: one voltage-controlled oscillator, one voltage-controlled filter, and one low frequency oscillator. Since each knob directly applies a specific change to the sound, the process of sound creation is intuitive, and instantly understandable. Simple is best. Gone are the deep lists of presetsand parameters typical of todays synthesizers. Instead, the monotron encourages exploration andexperimentation. The monotron provides the joy of sonic creativity that's at the heart of analog synthesis, making it an ideal choice for someone who is new to synthesizers, or for musicians who wants to expandtheir sonic palette.

The monotron uses the same highly acclaimed VCF circuit as KORGs classic MS-10 and MS-20 semi modular synthesizers. Originally released over 30 years ago, these instruments are still coveted today for their aggressive, dynamic filters. The VCF Cutoff knob sets the frequency or tone of the filter; the VCF Peak knob adds emphasis. A powerful filter is an essential aspect of any analog synthesizer, applying dramatic tonal changes to the sound, and projecting an intense personality that will stand out in any live performance."

Moogerfooger FreqBox MF-107 driven by a DSI Tetra

YouTube via GruithuisenCityMan | July 13, 2010

"Hello ! My name is Frederic Gerchambeau. I have made this movie. To be fair, this is hardly a demo. I am just trying some possible sounds made by a Moogerfooger FreqBox MF-107 driven by a Dave Smith Instruments Tetra (playing always the same simple monophonic sound). As it is my very first attempt to do so, the results are certainly not to be taken too seriously. Enjoy !
