STG Soundlabs SEA DEVILS FILTER

via STG on Ebay
"There are two famous 3 pole diode ladder lowpass filters, one of them was in a little silver box of a synthesiser with integrated sequencer that was used to make "Acid Tracks" and the other one was was in a big suitcase of a synthesiser with a silver faceplate and semi-integrated sequencer that was used to make tracks on acid often. this is the latter. I'm not going to name any names here, but I'm hoping I don't have to mention any voltage controlled studios or electronic music studios to establish the lineage of this filter topology.

I can't promise this thing will make Sea Devils appear on your lawn or models of airplanes fly from one side of the stage to the other, crashing into a papier mache sun at the end of your song, so please don't be offended if these things fail to happen while using the filter, presuming you'd want to own one.

Click here for a 6 minute composition made with the Sea Devils Filter. The oscillators are unmodified Synthesizers.com Q106s and every other module (envelopes, VCAs, mixing, sequencing, etc) is an available, unavailable, or yet to be available STG Soundlabs module.

this module runs on 15 volt bipolar DC and has a Synthesizers.com-compliant power connector, and mounts properly in Moog, Synthesizers.com, or STG Soundlabs cabinets and rack frames."

STG on Ebay

I added an STG on Ebay link on the right under the the MORE STUFF/Manufacturers section. I'll be posting new items with new as they go up, but remember I do my best not to post the same image twice, so be sure to check out the link now and then. The same goes for the other manufacturers listed there.

BTW, for those that missed the post, I added a Eurorack on Ebay link towards the top right of the MORE STUFF section just under "Synths on Ebay US" and "Synths on Ebay UK." I still need to add other formats. It's not as simple as just popping them in though. I need to construct a search on Ebay that will filter out the non modular gear. For example, if I search on MOOG, Dotcom, OR Synthesizers.com then all the non modular gear will come in. If if I search requiring all then surely things will be missed. I'll let you know when I have something and when each goes up. I need to catch up on each day's posts first along with everything else in the day.

Robert Rich Discusses Modular Synths - Update

Marsynth modular

YouTube via marsynth | August 16, 2010

"I recently got a new phone that shoots decent video, so I figured I'd try to post something while testing it out.

This is where the ideas for new marsynth products come from: my modular system. This system is entirely hand made by myself, and a majority of the module designs are originals as well. Most marsynth products are simply derived from various patches.

In this video, I'm testing out an adaptation of the classic buchla 292 low pass gate."

Polyrhythmic Buchla from Scratch

YouTube via dkimcg | August 16, 2010

"4 on 5 poly-rhythmic patch from scratch.
Only things I planned ahead of time were the 4 and 5 step sequences in the TetraMaps.

Too much reverb yet again, and a couple glitches from when I touched my touchplate by accident off screen. Doh."

Arturia ARP 2600V

YouTube via kennykeyboard | August 16, 2010

"Experimenting with various power pads and filter settings on the softsynth with an ARP 2600 GUI. The software also has a chorus and delay section. I used a midi keyboard to play. It is possible to play using the mouse on the GUI keyboard. When controlled by a midi keyboard, the graphic shows depressed keys much like a player piano. The Arturia product includes the ARP 2600 in 3 faces, a 1601 Sequencer, and a 3640 keyboard graphic. I found the sound quality quite good even with the basic speakers. Latency is noticeable with the stand alone version"
