Fairlight CMI Legacy XXL Details

video posted here

Some additional info via Bitley

"So what is the Fairlight XXL? It is a refill for Reason 5 or Reason 5 & Record 1.5 and upwards. It contains the entire Fairlight CMI library, used with kind permission from Fairlight Instruments in Australia. Being the 8th major release of the Fairlight refills since April 2010 when the first version came, it now contains 3 Gb of data (this is compressed when packing the refill; the refill itself is close to 2 Gb’s), over 13,000 individual files in all; more instruments has been added all the time.

Instruments:

CMI IIx, D-50, JX8P, JX10, Prophet 5 Rev 2, Jupiter 4, Moog Minimoog, Moog Prodigy, SH101, MS20, EII, EIII, Prophet VS, DX7, TX81Z, TX816, 01/W FD, Juno 106, PPG Wave 2.2, Matrix 12, SQ80, VZ-1, V-Synth, S-750, EMT-1, MU-80, Subtractor (!), SX-250, Sequential 440 and more.

Drums & loops:

Although this isn’t really a “loop” library as such, some interesting rex files are actually included, such as some ‘vibes’ from a heavily modified TR-606. You will also find individual drum ‘hits’ from CMI IIx, TR-505, 606, 626, 707, 808, 909, Sequential 440, EIII, LinnDrum, Sequential Tom, DMX, DR-220E, CR-68, CR-78, RX5, MRS-8, DDD 1 E-drums, M1, SX-250, RZ1, CZ230S and more.

What happens with the Fairlight CMI II+ ReFill?

If you have it, you can upgrade to XXL for a small fee; or keep using it until you feel curious about more sounds. The major difference between the refills is that II+ is compatible with Reason 4 as well; XXL is made with and for Reason 5 and upwards. While II+ also works in Reason 5, this new version is fatter, even more seriously organized and in a word, better.

Fairlight CMI II+ is still availble on the site if you want a cheaper refill that still knocks the socks of just about any other refill in the entire world."

Monotribe Talking

Uploaded by poolpartyfy on Jul 14, 2011

"While playing around with my newly baught Monotribe, i found out how to produce vowels.

The setting is:
- LFO: fast
- LFO-Rate at 2:30
- LFO-Int at 1:00
- filter peak somewhere between 12:00 and 1:00

By playing with the filter cutoff you can produce vowels. Escpecially the filter peak will affect the vowels, and its a little tricky to find the exact position where good vowels can be produced."

Malekko Wiard Borg 2 Filter (black)

via this auction

"The Borg Filter – A hybrid of Buchlas Lowpass Gate 292 und and the high-/lowpass filter of the Korg MS 20 (but without individual controls for resonance and cutoff) is a very interesting and aggressive filter which can be used as a VCA as well.
Did we already mention the Borg 2 is a true sub-bass monster and you can generate huge bassdrums with it?

Differences between Borg1 and Borg2:
The Borg 2 has black knobs.
It is the same as the original Wiard 1200 series FracRak module. It´s very aggressive, has a shorter decay time and sounds more brilliant.

Technical details:
The peaking control determines the resonance but also acts as a switch between filter or VCA. The resonance is strong and the filter self-oscillates very fast. A further control blends from low- over band- to highpass mode.
Because of the slow and inert Vacrols used in the circuit it is quite impossible to modulate the cutoff frequency with fast CV signals.

Inputs and outputs:
2x Audio IN
2x Audio OUT
2x CV IN (key in = 1V/oct)
1x CV OUT

Measures and weight:
3U Eurorack module, module width 12HP"

The Harvestman: Double Andore

flickr By Analogue Haven

The Double Andore is the newest module available from The Harvestman. Described simply as a "dual attack-decay envelope generator and 2-channel VCA with digital curve shaping and VCA law selection", there is nothing simple about this module. The front panel is the Harvestman's "busiest" yet, offering plenty of controls to tweak and fun to be had.
