Playing with the Novaphone 340

YouTube Uploaded by rubymatt on Aug 25, 2011

"A quick tour of some of the sound design possibilities of the Novaphone 340 as I play with it's parameters. In this case I am just using 3 samples from the Sound Iron Emotional Piano 2.0. Each note played uses a random sample (they're all C at some velocity/octave)."

MOOG Opus 3 vintage analog polyphonic string synth SN 4849

via this auction

See zolophile (RSS) for more.

"The Moog Opus-3 is an orchestral style polyphonic synthesizer that features three sections: Strings, Brass, and Organ. The String and Brass section have dedicated highpass, lowpass, and bandpass filter to provide more variation when integrating the sounds. This was also one of the first synthesizers to feature stereo outputs for panning possibilities. Very lush full textures you would expect from a classic Moog design. Produced in 1980."

KORG Polysix vintage analog synth

via this auction

See zolophile (RSS) for more.

"For some reason the Polysix has not reached the esteem of the Roland Juno 60--even though it rivals the Juno in features and sound quality. The P6 has memory, a flexible arpeggiator, chord memory, and a useful effects section."

Star SYNARE PS1 vintage analog percussion drum synth

via this auction

"The PS1 was the first product from Star Instruments. It is a full monosynth, controlled by four pads with three zones per pad. Tuned correctly, you can play a full octave from the pads. The envelopes and features on the PS1 are fantastic--it can produce excellent bass sounds, atonal clangs, noise blasts and crashes, gongs, bells, toms, and a host of other effects. There is a wide range LFO, a ring modulator, white and pink noise (available simultaneously), and an excellent filter (capable of self-oscillation). The Synare blows other drum synths away."

KORG 770 vintage analog synth

SN 780077

"The 770 is a rare early Korg monosynth. It is a happy medium between the Minikorg K2 and the Maxikorg 800DV. It has the early Korg 35 filter, two oscillators (with the terrific chorus and Pitched Noise settings). There are inputs on the back to run audio through the filter or the (incredible sounding) ring modulator. It is more flexible than the K2 and more manageable and compact than the 800DV--it also allows you to invert the envelope voltage to either filter (an awesome effect that the other early Korgs cannot do). The sound of the 770 is rich and powerful--not buzzy or thin as the old reviews declare."

OCTAVE Kitten vintage analog synth

via this auction
See zolophile (RSS) for more.

"The Kitten is Octave's single oscillator monosynth. It makes up for that single oscillator with mixable waveforms and the ability to add two sub-octaves simultaneously. The oscillator can go into the low frequency range and can modulate the self-oscillating filter for sequencer-style sounds. I prefer the sound of the Kitten to the Cat."

Studio Electronics ATC-1 Analog Synth

via this auction

"Studio Electronics ATC-1 Analog Synthesizer in excellent working condition. The membrane panel has been recently replaced, the OS is upgraded to version 2.3, and it includes the delightful Moog filter cartridge as well as the delicious SEM filter. The case has a little bit of rack rash."

Modeselektor on Maschine

YouTube Uploaded by NativeInstruments on Aug 25, 2011

"Extremely well-built — you could even open a beer with it." Modeselektor got their hands on MASCHINE right at the start, and now it's a central part of their workflow, both on stage and in the studio. Take a look at the awesomely loud, messy spectacle of Modeselektor live in this video, and hear about MASCHINE, MASSIVE, and performing under extreme conditions. The audio is in German, but English subtitles are provided."
