Back From the PNW SynthFest 2011

Hi everyone, I just got back from the PNW SynthFest (Facebook page here). It was amazing. It was like a mini NAMM meets synth gathering. Three rooms of goodness. I met lots of great people and saw tons of great gear. The MMTA, Shoreline Community College, AES, and the Recording Academy PNW Chapter did a fantastic job hosting and organizing the event. I'll have plenty of video and pics that will go up over the coming days. Bookmark the PNW Synthfest label so you don't miss a thing. Also, I updated the link for the SynthFest banner on the right to point to the label now that the event is over. My goal is to bring a little bit of it to those that couldn't make it. With that in mind and because there is only so much time to post, work, and process, much of what I put up will be raw and unedited, giving you the experience of someone actually at the event. First posts should start going up tomorrow. As for now, it's time for me to catch up on posting! BTW, if you made the event and took pics and/or video, feel free to send it in.

MOCM Modded KORG Monotron in Wooden Case

"Another KORG monotron hack, this one is includes on more VCO + petch in, gete in, cutoff in...

ps:
I re-uploaded video after a you tube message saying that: Your video, may have content that is owned or licensed by EMI...
(what the ^%@£$!)
The reason of that message is probablly one audio sample from the prodigy at the end of the video (on the making off) so on this part instead of the prodigy now we can hear a very small part of my friends famous Greek band named direct connection( + the module).

the track is named: 7G and is from the Anticopyright_vol1

MOOG MUSIC ANNOUNCES FREE HALLOWEEN SOUND SET FOR ANIMOOG

"ASHEVILLE, NC – October 28, 2011-- Moog Music today announced that it has paired up with sound design and synthesist wizards Drew Neumann and Kevin Lamb to concoct a brew of unsettling and bone-chilling sounds that are now available as a free download for Animoog, the incredibly popular, professional polyphonic synthesizer designed for Apple’s iPad.

Moog instruments have been iconic in popular music for more than 40 years, but they’ve also been responsible for creating the sounds of fear, suspense and terror in popular cinema. From Hollywood blockbusters to horror films, and even The Simpsons’ Halloween specials, Moog synthesizers have added a spooky element to thousands of soundtracks.

In the “spirit” of Moog’s scary side, and due to the phenomenal success of Animoog as one of the top-10 paid iPad apps on the iTunes store, Moog Music is offering a Halloween sound set to users for free on it’s website (http://www.moogmusic.com/content/animoog) through Friday, November 4.

“It’s always thrilling to hear the new sounds that artists and sound designers create when we have developed a new instrument,” said Cyril Lance, chief engineer at Moog Music. “In this case, Animoog inspired Drew and Kevin to create an entire library of spooky sounds for Halloween which we are extremely excited to share with you.”

The add-on to Animoog includes presets that span the range from sci-fi to horror, and, in some cases, look like their names. Users can watch for the Zombie Hand, run from the Cyclops, escape the Evil Portal, and avoid the Scythe of the Grim Reaper!

The heart of Animoog is Moog’s Anisotropic Synthesis Engine (ASE), a technology that has been in development at Moog for nearly six years. Animoog captures the vast sonic vocabulary of Moog synthesizers and applies it to the modern touch surface paradigm, enabling any user to quickly sculpt incredibly fluid and dynamic sounds that live, breathe, and evolve as they play them. Whether users are new to synthesizers or are professional musicians, Animoog’s unique user interface gives them the ultimate tool for total creative expression.

Animoog is currently available on the iTunes app store for the iPad and iPad 2 (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/animoog/id471638724?ls=1&mt=8) for a limited time price of only $.99 (returning to the regular price of $29.99 November 18).
