"http://apps4idevices.com/read/korg-ims-20iMS-20 is a complete music production app for the iPad, consisting of a complete recreation of the legendary Korg MS-20 analog synth with patching capability, a 16-step analog sequencer based on Korg's SQ-10, a six-part drum machine with dedicated pads, and a seven-channel mixer with 14 types of effects. It also offers dual Kaoss Pads, one for controlling the notes using a choice of 31 scales, as well as the gate control, and the other for controlling assignable parameters from the synth and drum tracks. The sequencer can be used to control notes, gate, volume, pan, parameters and voltage levels, but also used as part of the synths patching capability. The synth has incredible power in it's 'pre-wired' state, but the semi-modular aspect is where you find the real scope for creative sound design. Make sure you listen to the audio below to hear how powerful the synth engine is, and watch the video to see how easy it is to navigate, create unique sounds and add them straight into the song sequence. I purposely didn't use any of the effects in the video or the first audio track to demonstrate how much you can do with the synth engine alone. The effects can be heard in second audio track, with a bit of delay in a couple of the patterns, and the decimator effect in the other parts. The iMS-20 comes with SoundCloud export capability, Sonoma Audio Copy, and is now also able to be directly connected to other apps using AudioBus. It also offers both coreMIDI and virtual MIDI which creates even more possibilities with other apps or hardware. This definitely one of my favourite and most used synths, especially when I'm looking to create new sounds, or just searching for inspiration during the recording process. The iMS-20 has such a unique sound and incredible scope; definitely ... A Killer App!

Pics of the DSI booth at NAMM. The highlight of course was the new Prophet 12. If you watched some of the previous videos on the Prophet 12, you should have noticed that the messaging has been that the Prophet 12 is essentially the best of the Prophet 08 and the best of the Poly Evolver keyboard (see :52 on in this video). One thing to consider is that it does not share any of the oscillators of either the Prophet 08 or Poly Evolver keyboard. The Prophet 08 has analog oscillators with sawtooth, triangle, saw/triangle mix, and pulse waves (with pulse-width modulation), and hard sync. The Poly Evolver has two analog oscillators and two digital with the original Sequential circuits Prophet VS waveforms. The Prophet 12, however, has new digital (software) oscillators which include wavetable oscillators. It's not clear how the wavetable oscillators are implemented. In PPG and Waldorf based wavetable synthesis each wavetable is essentially an oscillator with 64 waveforms that you can interpolate or step through. You can pick different wavetables each with 64 waveforms. On the Prophet 12 I was told that there are three wavetables that you can morph between. What wasn't clear was how the interpolation between the waveforms works. It does sound great.

Cyclone Analogic Bass Bot TT 303 Audio Click Problem
via Robin Whittle's Real World Interfaces:
"When playing closely spaced notes via MIDI In, there may be clicking noises. These are moderately loud and have sharp edges, so they are quite audible. Please see this waveform: click-fix/click-pink.jpg . The magenta part of the waveform illustrates where the click occurs - the VCA gain suddenly drops to zero at the start of a new note, which in this case is while the decay tail of the previous note is still going. The previous note probably ended around 15:228 and the new note probably started around 15:230.
These clicks were reported to me on 2013-02-03 and the next day I reproduced the problem on our machine, determined the cause and wrote to Cyclone Analogic about it. I devised a relatively simple two component change for the circuit which solved the problem on our unit. I expect this would work well for all Bass Bots. This is not solvable via firmware changes. My suggested fix can be done without changing the PCB. Cyclone Analogic have asked me not to post any modifications to their machines, so I won't. This is a demo of a song using made using it, all sounds are coming from the standalone version and shows how Audulus can be used to create custom performance setups."
