High Times / Playing with TenoriOn

Published on Feb 12, 2013

"For those of you who don't really understand what happens here and where which sound comes from:
The music is made with 2 instruments, the sequencer TenoriOn and the synthesizer workstation Korg M50.

TenoriOn is the instrument which i handle in the video. The clip shows the whole session, but you hear the sequenced sound first at around minute 1 when it's slowly

fading in.
The other sounds which you hear from the beginning are additional tracks which i've played with the Korg M50 synthesizer workstation. Also the TenoriOn was routet

before to the Korg M50 and is only the first track of this song.
Btw, the holiday video which appears in the small window is a flight from Denpasar (Bali) to Labuan Bajo (Flores).

A shorter song (main theme) is available at: http://beyondthelines.bandcamp.com/tr..."

Stone Mountain Park Carillon-Mabel Sansing Sharp Carillonneur

Uploaded on Apr 4, 2010 stevethrasher·156 videos

"For over three decades carillonneur, Mabel Sansing Sharp has treated audiences to spectacular performances of the songs "Clare Delune", "Chattanooga Choo Choo", "Amazing Grace" and "Georgia" along with many other songs and hymns. A very special thank you to Ms. Mabel for all of the wonderful memories!

For those of you not familiar with the Stone Mountain Carillon, the instrument was built by Schulmerich Carillons in Sellersville, PA for the Coco-Cola Pavilion 1964 World's Fair in New York.
The 732-bell carillon is located lakeside in the heart of beautiful Stone Mountain Park, Georgia. This amazing bell tower structure provides daily concerts to those young and old for reflection and inspiration. The carillon is the heaviest of all musical instruments and probably one of the most interesting by design."

This one spotted by Evan of Antiquity Music, makers of The Wheel Harp. It appears to be electronic based as you can see from the pics.

"For your consideration is an extremely rare Schumerich Americana carillon, one of Schulmerich's flagship carillons from the 1960s. Most of these carillons have been destroyed or salvaged for their amplifier parts, and finding one of these very nice models is extremely unusual. Buying a new digital Schulmerich carillon costs over $35,000 today, but these analog carillons have an even more beautiful, breathtaking sound. This particular carillon came from Weber State University in Utah, and cost over $25,000 in the early 1960s, which equates to over $180,000 in today's dollars.

We have fully restored this carillon's wiring, adding connectors (DB25, XLR, RCA etc.), so that the carillon can easily be moved around (all Schulmerich Americana carillons were originally hard-wired on-site when installed, so when removed, over 400 individual cables had to be cut, making restoration extremely costly and time-consuming). This required soldering over 800 individual cables!!!!! The restoration work on this carillon has cost us over $4000 in technicians' time.

"Module a-137-2 is another version of a wave multiplier. in contrast to the a-137-1 wavemultiplier i the a-137-2 generates four phase-shifted copies of a vco signal applied to the audio input. the four shifted signals are added to the original signal to obtain a fat sound similar to five independent vcos. the phase shifting is made by a simple circuit that works only for sloped signals like sawtooth, triangle or sine, but not for rectangles or pulses"

"Fancy handmade in the US midi controller. The Manta is similar to a Buchla/Serge touchplate but with USB! Beautiful wood panels and backing with a metal touchplate makes for a very expressive instrument/controller with a very quality feel. Mine is version 2 with bi-colour leds.

The Manta is designed to be incredibly flexible depending on how you wish to use it. It makes a fantastic complement to a MAX/MSP, PureData or modular setup but can be used with any DAW such as Live or Logic. I've used it as velocity-sensitive 48 note keyboard, which I found useful for breaking old keyboard habits. You can assign the little hexagons to pretty much any midi parameter though. It can be a sequencer, X/Y pad, keyboard, fader. A lot of potential in a small package.
It has a USB connection so you have to interface with the computer for now, though Snyderphonics are apparently developing a little breakout box with midi and CV for analogue and other external gear."

Modular patch (as always) recorded without overdubs.
The recording of the vocals was a hard one man show (singing, recording, filming) :D
However - we're 99%!

(First time working with Premiere Elements instead of iMovie - so sorry for my video skills :D)
