A Patch A Day, No. 14
Published on May 22, 2013 hamiltonulmer·14 videos
"Three rough sine waves, playing a nice dominant chord, with a brief rise in frequency from Maths.
The three sines come from the DPO and Dixie II. I used the Graphic Sequencer to modulate the FM on the DPO, which gives the lovely rhythmic feel at the beginning. Definitely going to keep that one in mind.
Those three sines get mixed, and then go to the µFade. Yes, another µFade-focused patch.
The second main voice is Ch. 1 of the Maths, with the Wogglebug stepped CV output (for some reason) running through the Tame Machine, and then out to the BOTH in for the Maths. The Tame Machine actually produces a fun walk between pitches. Because I set it to "link" and not "trigger" it changes pitch according to its own tempo, not the Wogglebug-clocked Clock-Divided one that runs everything else. That gives the Woggling a fun bend in pitch as it corrects mid-note.
The rest should be pretty clear at this point - the Clock Divider opens on the /64 and exposes the MMG'd Maths channel via FREQ 2, while FREQ 1 slightly pulsates according to one of the other smaller divisions.
Very fun patch."

"Flux is a digital sound sculpture. You can define the overall shape and structure of an evolving composition by drawing a simple initial gesture on a tablet device or phone. The gesture is analyzed by the system, and certain parameters define length, movements and mood of the audiovisual composition. Every element is calculated on the fly, based on your initial gesture and some simple algorithms..."
"Flux is built with open source technologies. The sound synthesis is made with the free patching environment Pure Data (using libPD for android), while the user interface is built with Processing (with some core Android functions). A non-interactive, automated version of the Pure Data sound patch is available freely on Github."

Euroack Techno: Stress Testing Doepfer's A-132-4 VCA
Published on May 22, 2013 skrapadelix·24 videos
"I just got a new VCA (well 4 of them actually) in the shape of the Doepfer A-132-4.
I'm really impressed with the size (6hp), value for money and the sound - snappy, loud and clean. Here's a test patch with bass, percussion, hats and stab each routed through a separate VCA - and no matter how hot the levels get, the A-132-4 takes it all like a champ.
Patch details:
Kick drum: Analogue Solutions DB99
Bass: Cyclebox II sequenced by A-149 into VCA channel 1
Percussion: Piston Honda sequenced from A-160/A-161/A-138c into VCA channel 2
hats: A-118 into VCA channel 3
Stab: Flame Talking Synth into Pittsburgh delay into A-124 Wasp filter into VCA channel 4
The whole mix routed through the TipTop Audio Z5000 cv'd by the A-143-1.
As usual everything done in the wooden box in realtime with nothing else added..."

"Koushion is a MIDI step sequencer that allows you to easily program drum patterns and melodies using your existing drum machine, hardware synthesizers, or soft synths and samples in your DAW.
---
**NOTE: Koushion is a MIDI controller, not a synthesizer, and therefore does not generate audio by itself. Koushion will work with your DAW, MIDI hardware, and background audio apps (via virtual MIDI).

---
Features:
* 16 steps per scene (up to 128 steps in chain mode)
* 8 scenes with independent midi channel per scene
* 8 scene layers with independent key, quantization, and playback mode

* Key switching between any major, minor, or pentatonic scale
* Adjustable quantization (1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 and 1/32)
* Quantized scene switching
* MIDI clock send/receive
* Tap to set tempo (great for syncing with a live band)
* Velocity control
* Monophonic drawing mode (only allows one note per step; great for programming leads)
* Wireless connectivity via CoreMIDI Network Sessions
* Automatic integration with other apps via CoreMIDI virtual ports. Open up a synth in the background and Koushion will trigger the notes!
* Dark theme to reduce eye strain when working in low-light environments
---
Connectivity:
Koushion connects to your existing MIDI hardware via the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit or the iRig MIDI from IK Multimedia. It also connects wirelessly to your DAW via a connector application (for Windows) or CoreMIDI (for OS X)."

A Musical Analysis of Oxygene 2

♪♫ ♯♩♪♫♬ ► A musical analysis of Oxygene 2 - JM Jarre - Part 0/4 : Rythmics
Published on Nov 25, 2010 tlnet37
"Here I will show you that you can break that song down into its instrument tracks , and perform an acoustic analysis of each and every sound.
I will show you that it is possible to reproduce that with a cheap minimal equipment, just by ear and instinct, with no scores, no MIDI file, no computer. All is hand played except for rythmics part ... this is real music recorded with my "old school" method !
In this first part, I try to reproduce the rythm played in the original JMJ's Oxygene, with the Korg MiniPops 7 ; here, I used a standalone free application called Rythmus by ElektroStudio. In that software, you can adjust the volume of each sounds, the pan, the tune, the volume and the global tempo ; 2 presets are used simultaneously : Beguin and Slow Rock for Oxygene 2.
The next part I will show you how to make all noises (ocean, wind, storm, randomized short sequences) with Roland SH-101, Electro-Harmonix Memory Boy (tape delay), Small Stone Phase Shifter (phaser)."

"How to make a soft version of Oxygene 2 with minimal equipment : only 2 synths !
All is hand and by ear played .This is a very "light" cover ! I recorded 10 audio tracks with Presonus Studio One, but without automation and I have to add 2 tracks for noises with the Roland SH-101.
I only use Rythmus (by ElektroStudio), Alesis Fusion 8 HD, Roland SH-101, Electro-Harmonix Small Stone (Phaser) and Memory Boy (Tape Delay).
I'm beginner, and not a musician, so ... sorry for bad hand playing and tempo not respected sometimes !
