This performance starts out with a catchy repeating motif, followed by live improvisation ending with a nice sustained drone and live fadeout.

This music was created using 2 oscillators, filter and envelope adjustments, delay, LFOs, resonance and various other parameters on the Alesis A6 Andromeda synthesizer.

Performed live, no external processing. Excerpt from a longer session.

As a genre, ambient focuses on creating a mood or atmosphere through synthesizers and timbral qualities. It often lacks the presence of any net composition, beat, or structured melody. "Here we have a master clock driving a 4ms rotating clock divider...the rotates are being driven by the chaos brothers chaotic gate out...the chaos brothers CV IN is being driven by a division out of the RCD. our lead melody is an ardcore sh101 sequence clocked by RCD. the dreamboat is Messing with the decay cv in off wow and flutter 1 which is processing a drum sound. Wow and flutter 2 is delaying the melody."

"This is a very cool, very rare item that just doesn't get enough use in my studio anymore.

These units were made in the 70s, and were (and still are) one of the few ways to track an audio input and convert it to a control voltage to be used with a synthesizer. They were also sold at the time in different form factors for use in the Serge and Aries modular synthesizers. There are web sites that discuss this unit in fair detail, including, I believe, one that was put up by it's designer Carl Fravel. (You'll have to search as ebay won't let me post the link)

This particular unit is roughly 2 rack spaces high. It does not have rack ears on it, so I used it on a rack shelf. I also have the manual for the unit which will be included with the auction..."

"Intellijel Azimuth Dual VCA/Crossfade module...

The Azimuth is back! This is a completely new circuit jam packed with 12 VCAs to perform three core and independent functions:
linear input VCAs + Constant Voltage panning/fading + super stereo processing.

External signals are first processed by the input VCAs, they are then fed to the panning circuit and then processed by the stereo enhancement section.

Features:

Stereo linear input VCAs with independent CV controls and attenuators

WIDTH control determines functionality of the Panning knob:

Full CCW is MONO width and the Panning knob acts as a linear xfade control between the left and right source signals.

Middle setting is normal STEREO operation. A mono signal in the left input can be panned between L/R and a stereo source can be balanced.

Full CW is the super stereo mode which employs a special trick to create the aural illusion of an extra wide stereo image.

Full CV control with attenuator of the width amount

Switch for changing the direction of panning/fading

DC coupled inputs
