Modcan: Quad LFO in Eurorack

via Control Synthesizers and Electronic Devices on Facebook

"Another New one from Bruce Duncan's Modcan: Quad LFO. Brilliantly executed and completely capable multiple LFO module.

Now In Stock: http://www.ctrl-mod.com/Modcan-Quad-LFO-p/modcan-quad-lfo.htm"

"The Quad LFO is a versatile and powerful source of modulation wavesforms that will extend the modular LFO well beyond simple vibrato. The Quad LFO has 16 wave types to choose from including various random waves and morphing wave sets which are actually 32 waves with smooth morph transition with the potential for thousands of different shapes. Each of the regular waves employs some form of real-time waveform transformation. For example the Sine wave can smoothly transform into a triangle wave, The stair case wave can change the number of steps on the fly, the Random wave has built in slew for smoothing, The pulse wave has variable width (PWM) etc. Please take a look at the animated gifs to see all the possible wave transforms possible..."

Pics of the inside and an advertisement with the Piano Bass on a stand below.

"For sale is this vintage 1963 Fender Rhodes Piano Bass electronic keyboard. This particular pre-CBS example, serial number B-0012, is in very excellent 100% all original condition, and features the incredibly attractive combination of both rough Brown Tolex and and a taupe-colored Desert Sand finish ream fiberglass top. A Rhodes Bass similar to this variant was actually simultaneously displayed with a Blonde Tolex/Fiesta Red top version in the 1963 Fender catalog, which suggests the two different aesthetically appointed versions coexisted for a brief period. Shortly thereafter, sometime during 1965, the Rhodes Piano Bass evolved into the eqaully rare Brown Tolex/Gold Sparkle Top, and shortly thereafter the more common Black tolex/Silver Sparkle top variety most famously used by Ray Manzerik of the Doors. From my collection to yours, I have decided to sell this extremely fine example of a rare Rhodes Bass with No Reserve and FREE Worldwide shipping, so take advantage of this offer, because beautiful 100% original examples rarely come along!

This example is extremely well-preserved, exhibiting only slight storage wear on the original Brown Tolex. The original "Dog Bone" hard plastic handle is perfectly intact, and the original skirted Fender amp knobs are as well. They keys are pristine with expected weather checking, and the lighter-colored Walnut trim is in beautiful shape. The original Raymac tone bars are level and void of oxidation, while the rest of the internal components are highly preserved.

This keyboard works perfectly, and is surprisingly in tune. It is not believed to have been serviced nor repaired at any point since purchased new, so this is a genuinely intact all original unmolested example."

Yamaha VL1 Version 2 Acoustic Modelling Synthesizer

I think this is the first time I noticed the VL1 has a floppy drive built into it.  See the pic below.

via the seller: "If you are looking at this auction then you probably have some idea what a great instrument the VL-1 is for synthesizing new sounds and recreating acoustic instruments you can actually 'play'. The way the programs interact with the performance controls are genius to me. In my opinion the VL1 is one of Yamaha's greatest creations. It was crazy expensive in 1996 and was a big decision to purchase one. I fell in love with it as soon as I heard it. The programming possibilities are endless. All of the hardware must be top notch because it sounds and feels fantastic. Kind of in the same way my DX1 sounded and played better than my DX5. The quality components have to make a big difference..."

STG Soundlabs Post-Lawsuit Lowpass Filter for Synthesizers.com or Moog

"This module is listed by the manufacturer.

This filter is not a clone of the ARP 4072 submodule. It does, however, have an identical topology with the same transistors and operational amplifier array. Some people may find this is close enough to use the "C" word but not here at STG Soundlabs, so in tribute to the origin of this filter design it is called the Post-Lawsuit Lowpass Filter.

And before you call to complain, let me point out that Post-Ambiguous-Legal-Action Lowpass Filter just didn't have the same ring."

Video at the auction and previously posted here.

"This module is listed by the manufacturer, and is called "Digital Attenuators" on the front panel because even though it functions as a VCA I would like you to consider that it can only attenuate, it cannot amplify ... and there is a digital control aspect.

The Digital Attenuators module is 3 digitally-controlled analogue attenuators (use them as VCAs) with a multipurpose sidechain input and switchable AC/DC coupling in 1MU. Each cell is built around a microcontroller and a digital potentiometer (an IC which functions as a digitally-controlled resistor pair, essentially), because only the digital potentiometer and unity i/o buffers are in the signal chain this is an extremely clean VCA.

A benefit of this arrangement is being able to read the audio input into the microprocessor and only update the digital potentiometer at the zero crossings of the input signal. no more irritating clicks on sine wave bass! in addition, the sidechain input can be used to send a different signal for reference to the zero crossing detector, which can also be switched to look for triggers or switched off completely so the digital potentiometer is updated constantly."

iPad Running Cassini and Sunrizer with the Bitstream 3X and MKS-80

iPad Running Cassini and Sunrizer with the Bitstream 3X and MKS-80 from AudioCookbook.org on Vimeo.

"In the video I have focused on illustrating how one might use two iPad synthesizer apps and a hardware synthesizer together including Cassini, Sunrizer, and the MKS-80. The BS3X is used as both the iPad interface and MKS-80 controller. No computer is required, but a simple change of cable allows for a computer to be integrated into this setup because the MOTU UltraLite interface and standalone mixer has MIDI I/O. In other words two MIDI interfaces are still necessary with a computer, but prior to this experiment I was only using the BS3X as a controller for the MKS-80 and bypassing the class compliant USB MIDI interface functionality. Since the USB hub was required I also added the QuNexus to the setup. This was dedicated to feeding notes into the arpeggiator in Cassini. The keyboard controller was split so that in the low end I could play the MKS-80 effect then tweak it with the BS3X knobs and sliders as it decayed. In the upper end of the same keyboard I played a lead sound programmed in Sunrizer.
