LXR Live
Published on Mar 3, 2014 rudeog·33 videos
"Live jamming on the Sonic Potions LXR. All sounds come from the unit itself, and are bussed (maybe to excess?) through a Korg Kaoss Pad on the Reverb 1 setting. The lead melodic sound is programmed on the LXR's 'clap' engine which features dual FM modulation."
Muff Wiggler Launches Online & Brick and Mortar Storefront
As most of you know Muff Wiggler is THE forum when it comes to modular synth gear and more. Mike McGrath of Muff's has teamed up with Cyrus Rex and launched both an online shop and a physical storefront in Portland, OR. The grand opening will be held at the TRASH_AUDIO Synth Meet at the store on May 24. You can find their website at http://store.muffwiggler.com. You'll also find their banner here on MATRIXSYNTH on the right.
via Mike McGrath:
"I have partnered up with Cyrus Rex, and together we have created a company, Muffwiggler, LLC. We have invested a significant amount of cash and will be opening the MuffWiggler Store today.
Initially a webstore, we will be opening a physical storefront as well later this month manned by Steve ‘ignatius’ Westbrook, Ned Wahl, and Rico Loverde. We have a building in Portland, Oregon (that's right Cali and other out-of-state Americans, HUGE TAX ADVANTAGES!), fulltime staff to check, test, carefully package and quickly ship your order, and an absolutely astounding inventory of some of the very best gear ready to ship immediately.
We are very proud and flattered to have incredible support from our launch partners, and are currently stocking gear and adding inventory this week from the following:

Yamaha DX-1

"Among Yamaha's DX line of synthesizers, the DX1 is definitely the biggest. With a dual 6-operator digital FM engine, it's like two DX7's wrapped up in a wood-paneled case and comes with a truly professional weighted 73 note keyboard sensitive to both velocity and aftertouch. The DX7 style membrane buttons have been replaced by actual push-buttons, display screens and the overall layout of buttons and diagrams is nicer and better organized. Sound-wise, the DX1 is like a fatter DX7. It too features FM synthesis. That means that although the DX1 is a digital synthesizer, its sounds are unique and fresh with an analog/digital hybrid feel. Programming however, is not at all like analog synth programming. All DX series synths use FM synthesis. Fortunately the advanced DX1 has display screens that show amplitude modulation, envelopes, velocity, levels and de-tuning parameters unlike previous DX synths so you can better visualize what and how you are editing parameters. A neat new feature for the DX1 is that two patches (Channel A and B) can be used simultaneously with the keyboard in layer or split-mode. This mode is generally 16-voice polyphonic, but with just one patch loaded you can have 32 voices of thick polyphony! Pretty good for a synth almost 30 years old!.."

Mosaik Auto-BPM-Synced / Time-Warped Looper for iOS in the Works
"Mosaik is an iOS App for making Auto-BPM-synced / time-warped loops. All you have to do is import your samples or songs. The App searches the audio for beat information. With the help of this information Mosaik is able to match the audio to any BPM.
And it also incorporates a high quality grain-based time-stretching engine. This means that you can now match any audio to your songs on your iOS device. Exactly like that prominent audio software you are thinking about right now ;-)
Date of Release: End of March
FEATURES AT A GLANCE
Audio import of samples or whole songs via iPod Library
Beat-Signature-Analyzer for making beat-exact loops automatically
High-Quality Time-Stretch Engine based on granular synthesis
Audiobus support
IN THE FUTURE
Transient Detection for Attack-Phase loop-protection
16x32 Slots (16 Tracks / 32 Slots per Track)
Built-In Effects
Live-Input Beat-Signature + Transient Detection
Much much more ..."

Soulsby Synthesizers - Atmegatron Goes on Sale Today!
"The Atmegatron is a new 8-bit monosynth and the debut product from Soulsby Synthesizers. It's an electronic musician's dream, combining the sounds of 1980s home computers with the flexibility and power of a modern synthesizer. It adds a wide palette of new sounds to any studio setup and is also great for live use.
Features of the synth include: 32 waveforms, 15 digital filter types, 2 ADSR envelopes, 1 LFO with 16 waveforms, an arpeggiator with 15 patterns and loads of fx including phaser, distortion and the unique Wavecrusher. It also comes with 16 preset sounds and unlimited preset expandability via the Atmegatron Librarian software available for Mac or PC.
The Atmegatron is built on the open source Arduino platform. This means that the synthesis engine can be completely changed by uploading software to the synth. One minute it's a monosynth, the next it's a drum machine. Soulsby Synths will be releasing new and completely free software versions over the coming months.
Why buy 1 synth when you can have ∞?
The Atmegatron is available in two versions:
Atmegatron Complete - £255 ex VAT & delivery.
Atmegatron Synthesizer

"FREE DOWNLOAD! All sounds in this track (including drums) were made 100% using the incredible new synth from Soulsby Synthesizers, the Atmegatron. Effects and mix processing were done in Ableton Live, but there were NO bitcrushers etc. used, just delay, reverb, compression, EQ and stereo widening. soulsbysynths.com/
