Evaton Technologies RF (Radio Frequency) Eurorack Module Prototype - Video Demos & Pics

Be sure to turn this one up! Listen on a system with good bass for some of the lower frequencies. Part 2 with louder volume below followed by some pics.
I was lucky enough to get my hands on a Evaton Technologies prototype RF eurorack module. This is my first go with the module. Please note this is not a musical demo and not a formal demo of the module. I just fired it up, loved what I heard and decided to record it. The RF is a voltage-controlled sideband shortwave receiver. Knobs include "RF Gain" to control the RF signal level, "Tuning" to control the RF frequency, "CV Amount" applied to "Tuning", and "Audio Gain" for the overall output level. All you hear is the RF with some light chorus and reverb. I bring the volume in with the Mattson Mini Modular JP filter. Once it's open it's 100% RF producing all the timbres you hear. I apply CV modulation of the RF Tuner with a Mattson Mini Modular dual LFO, first with the lower rate LFO and then with the higher rate which essentially morphs the RF modulation into audio range for some interesting timbres. At 2:08 that's the RF Tune knob adjusting the sound, not a filter. I also adjust the skew of the incoming Mattson LFO shape (right knob) at 2:50 which gives the effect of adjusting pitch. The only tweaking is what you see as I'm holding the camera with my right hand. I'm curious how it will respond to sequencers and other modulation sources and I'm curious how it will act as a modulation source itself for other modules. This module excels at picking up strange noises from sub oceanic bass to interstellar space. The drawing of the Octopus and the Space Monkey suddenly make sense. I get it and I love this module.
You might want to lower your volume levels for the following video. Dry signal until 1:23, then some chorus and reverb added.

This is the first Surrey post. Via the listing:
"This is something special and quite unique.. The Spectrum Shifter by Surrey Electronics. Rare audio processing device from the 70-ties, not the same principle as a pitch shifter. A bit like a budget Bode shifter. The slider might need some cleaning but everything works and it is ready to play or mod into...
Please have a look at the pictures and see for yourself. Let me know if you have any questions. Please check my 100% positive, music/synth/studio related feedback. I'm a serious and professional seller AND packer.
Something about frequency shifters from the web:

'a frequency shifter will shift all frequencies additively. Thus, the spectra (overtone content) of the source will become increasingly distorted with shifting. This is opposed to say, a Harmonizer's pitch shifting. Frequency Shifters usually use a quadrature oscillator as the carrier (these were usually voltage-controlled in analog synth oriented models), and at low rates, can be used to reduce microphone feedback. The famous devices designed by Harold Bode can shift up to 5k and good carrier rejection, and were used in electronic music studios to radically alter sounds, especially sources with a lot of noise, such as percussion. FS's were featured in several analog synths, such as the Buchla, Serge (two versions, one with external carrier), and the Moog (licensed from Bode).'"

SARAH DAVACHI AUGUST HARP Featuring Buchla, SCI, and EMS
"August Harp is Davachi's second release, and is reflective of her ongoing exploration into the topography of spectrally immersive textures and aural environments. The compositions on this album consider notions of sustenance, shifting harmonic spectra, psychoacoustic derivation of artificial resultant tones, and interior movement within a semblance of stasis. Over the past five years, Davachi's compositional projects have been primarily concerned with disclosing the antiquated instruments and forgotten sonics of a bygone era in analog synthesis; her work on August Harp puts forth offerings from Buchla & Associates, Sequential Circuits, and EMS (London), subsuming transitions that took place between 1968 and 1981..."

What iPad MIDI Editors Might Look Like Stretched Across a Synth
via Superdan Rosenstark on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge:
"I've been thinking a lot recently about virtual space vs. "real" (physical) space and control. I finally got a 3D artist to do a rendering. This one is for our layout for the Casio XW keyboards... one for our massive layouts for the Roland U.S. JD-990 would probably be more appropriate for this lounge, but anyway... this is just a fun concept image. Hope you dig it and don't mind the plug."
via MIDI Designer: "Virtual space does have its advantages. Here's what the iPad controller for the Casio Music Gear XW line of keyboards looks like if you spread it out.
Find out more:
here"
Like a PPG Realizer on steroids. This is why I was a fan of the iPad from day one. It opens up synths in a way that would be virtually impossible with hardware. Not to mention you can jump spaces on a virtual controller. You can't on hardware sliders and knobs. But it's not one vs. the other. Nothing beets physical knobs and sliders for that tactile experience, but if you can't have them the iPad is the next best thing and it does have some advantages. Check out my FS1R editor - 80 pages and access to over 1000 parameters. Not feasible in hardware.

camera audio only at the moment -
no drum machines or computers (except for a clock signal from ableton)
tiptop audio trigger riot provides trigger signals for:
Mutable Instruments Braids (kick in drum mode),
Mungo g0 with an Absynth sample through a harvestman double andore (snare)
Make Noise DPO (hi hats)
all routed through a Mutable Instruments Ripples which is being FMed by the drum sequence and then tweaked as you see in the video"
