"This is the 1st time we connected neurons to a nonlinearcircuits voice synth. The neurons are grown on an array of 60 electrodes. In this test we just used 1 electrode and amplified the signal to get a 5V neuronal noise signal and extracted the action potential using a comparator to get triggers."

cellF 2 - Using Organic, Biological Neurons to Control a Modular

Published on Aug 6, 2014 cirtcele

"We hooked some living neurons up to a nonlinearcircuits modular. the neuronal noise was amplified & fed thru filters, also used to CV a VCO. The action potentials (triggers) were used to drive the sequencers. We used a pulse divider to provide a feedback signal to the neurons and they seemed to appreciate this a lot :) Thanks to Nathan for the footage."

I think I can sync : KORG DSN-12 sync test with Volca and MS-20 mini

"Improvisation with KORG DSN-12, MS-20mini and Volcas.
Sync signal for volca was programmed in a track on DSN-12 as a sequence, I used left channel for this sync signal only and right channel is used for the synth sound, then signal of left channel is sent to ESP input of MS-20mini to make trigger signal and this trigger signal is used for volca's sync signal ( please see the diagram at the beginning of this video )"

Modular Synthesis for Neophytes

Published on Jul 23, 2014 MAKEN0ISE

"Make Noise interns Safarii, Asher and Adam came into the Make Noise shop 10 weeks ago with no knowledge of modular synthesis. They learned quite a bit from Walker and Tony and now they are presenting this video to teach the complete neophyte some of the basic principles of modular synthesis.

From here you could move on to:

"Sonata for Machines" - (Solo) w/ Doepfer A101-2 LPG

Published on Jul 23, 2014 Strange UFO Music

"Added a Doepfer A101-2 Low Pass Gate, Vactrol filter. Can be used as filter and/or a vca. Has a mode that's inspired by the Buchla 291 Low Pass module.

My modular is currently under construction, adding a third row. But adding a new row usually means changing the previous row (see as pictured). recorded live on stereo tracks, no overdubs on this one. Patch used as pictured. Blue Lantern FM joystick sending resets or direction cv's to matrix sequencer."

Keychee Beat Making Performance on Push

Published on Jul 23, 2014 Ableton

Ableton Push on eBay

"We recently came across Push ninja Keychee, whose beatmaking process can also be a performance in itself. Playing the pads expressively while dialing in automation and new instrument layers on the fly, Keychee builds up and breaks down a track in real-time, in this video recorded in one take.

This video is the first of a set of videos showing artists creating a track with Push in one take -- shot with one steady-camera in real-time.

Keychee has generously made his set from the video available as a free download. Grab it at https://www.ableton.com/en/blog/keychee-push/

VGM #12 - Map Theme (Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island)

Yoshi's Island is one of my favorite games. I originally came up with the idea for this song for a competition, but I was three weeks late in getting the song done. But, I am still really happy with my arrangement, so here it is!

I really wanted to highlight the way the original built off of layering, while really making the song my own. This time I go a little more off the books, as far as the arrangement is concerned, channeling the funky fun of soul music. All while having a heck of a lot of fun with my doodads and gadgets. I hope you enjoy!

Also, I really wanted to switch things up and use my Tempest as a sequenced synth and use the analog 4 as the drummer. It was really interesting, but I gotta say, I love the live play accessibility of the Tempest. The Analog 4 is super powerful, but its mostly a device you do all of your leg work before performing. Anyways. Yeah."
