YYZ on a keytar - no further description is needed

Published on Dec 2, 2014

"Welcome to another installment of ridiculousness!

Thanks for so many years of YouTube support. Despite my intergalactic adventures I am a real person in need of real support. Please visit patreon.com/packrat for more information.

This film was masterfully cinematographied (blorg?) by one of my very best friends, an 8-year-old by the name of Jaxon Ventura. It doesn't matter that you don't know who that is; your kids will absolutely worship him sometime in the 2030s.

It's all OK.

You have no idea what is happening right now. It's weird when time travelers post shit on YouTube. Anyway, that's just going to have to be all right with everyone, and most especially Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart, who wrote one of my favorite all-time songs, "YYZ," which I've decided to sequence on an old Korg O1/W keyboard for nostalgic, shreducational purposes, and play along with it on one of my 1984 Roland Axis keytars controlling a Roland JD-800 synth. This is all happening at the Safehouse, which is an independent republic located in the heart of Connecticut and recognized (by at least five people) as a sovereign state known as "The Din." Its liege lords, the Royal Din, are what you would call "my band," and while we don't marinate in this kind of progressive wankadoo horseplay while playing live in front of anyone, we do on occasion do some pretty amazing musical feats together. It can be monitored on royaldin.com.

Meanwhile, keep coming back to this YouTube channel for more feats of berzerking amusement, and of course umop.com for updates on my comic strip "The Packrat," which contains a lot of synthesizer references and other stuffs of nerdist delight.

the idea for this wiring is from Jo Till, Schraub & Dreh, Berlin"

Rear Window 2

Published on Dec 5, 2014 John L Rice

"The video I did a month ago titled "Rear Window" is very similar to this one and both use the same equipment but with one very important exception . . . this time I eliminated the lab oscillator and just routed the effects return back into mixer inputs 2 and 3. So all sounds you are hearing in this video were created by manipulation of feedback resonance/howl in the mixer and the effects pedals.

This one is also a lot longer, almost 20 minutes, and was done as you see it here, a real-time experimentation performance.

Equipment list:
One Mackie 802-VLZ3 mixer
Two TC Electronic Hall Of Fame reverb pedals
One TC Electronic Flashback delay pedal
One Electro-Harmonix Ravish Sitar pedal
(TC Electronic Ditto looper pedal wasn't used)

Thanks for watching!"

" This is a truly unique find. A true Vintage classic synth, low serial #11-201 and quite simply in spectacular condition. Keys are clean and straight. All knobs, keys, buttons, wheels etc. appear in perfect working order with no known defects. Sound output is perfectly clear and unforgettably unique. The unit does include the original manual, also in pristine condition. These pictures are of the actual Fizmo for sale, and this one boasts the unblemished original hypnotic purple finish with glistening black brushed metal chassis. The only known modification to this unit is the replacement power supply, which was a very desirable modification. (The stock power supplies were notorious for serious problems.) Rear panel jacks and connectors are in perfect condition with only a few minor scratches visible.

This unit deserves a 20 page write up, but if you are reading this you already know how unique it is. Suffice to say that if you're looking for an truly epic gift for yourself or the serious musician/collector in your life? This. Is. The. One."

That first pic made me do a double take. It's the manual resting on the left but it's line up so it looks like the face of the synth.

"This Odyssey sounds great and everything works on it - it was recently serviced about a year ago by professional technician in Los Angeles. Every slider works as they should with NO stiffness. All keys on the keyboard work fine. All output and input jacks work fine, I've sequenced this synthesizer using the input Gate, Trigger and CV jacks many times. The output jacks were used to connect to Arp Little Brother for additional oscillator with the audio routed back into the RCA Ext Audio Input RCA jack. The audio input and output jacks also work perfectly, the Ext Audio Input RCA and High Level jacks were replaced with gold plated connectors; I used these heavily when connecting to an Arp Little Brother. The Low Level output jack works fine which was connected to mixing board for dry signal from the Odyssey. As you can see from the pictures, some of the paint on the back and a little on the front has pealed. This does not deter from the sound that this synthesizer produces, the only reason it's being sold is to help finance a Arp 2600."
