January 2015 - Anaheim, CA... The Bob Moog Foundation returns to NAMM, the global music industry trade show held in Anaheim, CA, from January 22-25, 2015. Furthering the success of their innovative educational project, Dr. Bob's SoundSchool, and their preservation efforts of the Bob Moog Foundation Archives, the Foundation will provide NAMM attendees with a rare education and insight into innovative synthesizer technology, past, present, and future.

The Foundation will celebrate strides in innovation as it shares its expanded booth space with bourgeoning new company, 'Vo. 'Vo features inventor Paul Vo's groundbreaking work incorporating Acoustic Synthesis. Best known for his invention of the technology behind the Moog Guitar and the more recent Vo-96 Acoustic Synthesizer, Vo observes, "through Acoustic Synthesis, we can explore the sonic possibilities of acoustic instruments, and even previously unimagined objects of acoustic art, with the same depth we now explore electronic instruments."

Michael Koehler, CEO of 'Vo, shares his vision for the company. "The world was amazed in 2007 when the Moog Guitar was released and again in 2013 with the Vo-96. This year, 'Vo will give NAMM-goers a taste of where Paul has taken his original concept with a sneak peek of our next product." Koehler goes on to share his feelings on 'Vo's relationship with the Bob Moog Foundation. "'Vo is about innovation at its core. The Bob Moog Foundation is about innovation at its core. It is natural for our companies to have a mutually supportive relationship. We are extremely proud to be with them at NAMM and are looking forward to where the future will bring us."

The Foundation will also be honoring musical history as it hosts Michael Boddicker's behemoth custom Moog modular synthesizer. Michael Boddicker is a preeminent session synthesist who has worked with artists including Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Donna Summer, Quincy Jones, Barbara Streisand, George Benson, Olivia Newton-John, Joe Cocker, and Whitney Houston. A long-time close friend of Bob Moog, Boddicker is also known for his work scoring Flashdance, Buckaroo Banzai, Apocalypse Now, and more.

As a result of his extensive work, Boddicker's Moog modular is one of the most recorded synthesizers in music history. The instrument will be demonstrated throughout the weekend by the Foundation's Archive and Education Specialist, Marc Doty. This marks the third year in a row that that Foundation is featuring vintage Moog modular systems in their booth, a representation of their commitment make electronic music history accessible people of all walks of life.

The Bob Moog Foundation was created in 2006. Its mission of igniting creativity at the intersection of science, music, and innovation is carried forth through its hallmark educational project, Dr. Bob's SoundSchool, and through the preservation efforts of the Bob Moog Foundation Archives. SERIAL Soundpack (Week 18)

MIDI Fighters on eBay

"Over the holidays my wife, daughter and I took a nice 5 hour drive up to see my in-laws, about 2 hours into the trip with the baby sleeping in the back, we decided to help the time pass by checking out this new podcast called SERIAL, to say the least it's addictive and you quickly want to uncover the mystery. Needless to say the score/music they use is amazing! So my soundpack brain quickly went to work and this is the result. Compiled of 4 banks, 64+ samples which range from moody piano, to creepy bass, and some airy acoustic guitar. It's a slight departure from my normal, but I think it's nice to step out of your niche genres every now and then. Hope you enjoy this one as much as I did! -Kyle

"In anticipation of my participation in a BBC Radio show about the work of poet Michael Dohaghy and white noise in music I began exploring using my voice and my Eurorack Modular synth set up. Here you can listen to my live voice reading the work of Dohaghy directly into Mutable Instruments Clouds and how it offers so many possibilities in a performance environment. In addition I mixed in live sources from Endorphin es Furthrrr Generator and Microbe Modular Equation Composer to create this abstract work."

"For auction is an OBXa 8 voice model, and has been completely updated and sounds great (new keyboard bushings, power supply update, MIDI retrofit, and overhaul of the control board). The pitch bend control section has 4 screws in it that looks like either early factory run or an aftermarket insert. The original owners manuals are included, along with the OBXa patch book, two patch tapes (original factory patches are currently loaded on the OBXa) from the previous owners, and AC connector. This OBXa was owned by Patrick Cowley, who was pretty much the West Coast Moroder, such were his contributions to disco and High NRG styles. Thanks to Greg Montalbano for his work on the OBXa"
