Testbed Snippets by BugBrand

"A mess of snippets captured while testing..
A single frame of modules, recorded simply (no effects, a tiny touch of compression).
Driven (CV/Gate) by Korg SQ1 and/or Arturia Minibrute Seq. + one piece using Sonic Potions Penrose quantizer."

"This is an incredibly rare unit made for the Kawai K5000 series, and is essential for having some hands on knob control to edit parameters on the K5000R. It's in MINT condition and fully functional."

I believe this works with the K5000W keyboard synth as well. The K5000S has the knob section on board but lacks the workstation aspect of the K5000W.

Pics of all sides below. Note the connections are on the right rather than the back of the unit and appear to be standard MIDI vs. a proprietary system. Some details on the MIDI here.

Live jam with Volca Bass, Volca Sample, Microbrute, Mopho & MFB 522

Published on Aug 5, 2015 Shimanski Beats

"Here's another live jam with my baseline setup Korg Volca Bass, Korg Volca Sample and Arturia Microbrute. This time, they get accompanied by the MFB 522 drumcomputer and David Smith Instruments Mopho.

As with all my other jams, I only used the internal sequencers which are synchronized with the Master Midi clock from the Electribe ER-1. Some reverb and delay is added on most of the sounds (Alesis Quadraverb 2, Alesis Midiverb 3 and Lexicon MX200)."

The Last Slim Phatty Has Left the Building

via Moog Music

"Thanks For Everything Slim.

For the past five years the Slim Phatty analog synthesizer has been handcrafted at the Moog Music Factory in downtown Asheville, NC. On July 17th, the last Slim Phatty was built with love and sent out into the world.

The Slim Phatty was Moog's first tabletop synthesizer, a compact poly-chainable ideation of the classic Little Phatty analog synthesizer. Over the last 5 years, the Slim Phatty has found a home on countless stages and in studios around the globe.

We have truly enjoyed putting love and care into each and every Slim Phatty we have built. Thank you to all the Slim Phatty owners for supporting our company and making music with our tools.

Your work inspires our work.

Best Of Slim Phatty Preset Pack
As a thank you to all Slim Phatty owners, we have compiled a Best Of Slim Phatty Presets pack, which includes 99 of our favorite Phatty presets from over the years. Download the Best Of Slim Phatty Presets pack here.

New Moog Clone Coming From New Synth Maker, frobesynth

Moog Clone Keyboard Test Published on Aug 1, 2015 glkibler

We have a new maker coming. This is the first frobesynth post on the site.

"Test of my 'Frobe' hand-wired (no printed circuits) prototype Moog modular clone. What better way to test if a Moog is sounding like a Moog than with a little taste of Aquatarkus?

FROBE SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS:

100% Hand-wired analog modular synthesizer. No printed circuit boards.

3x Voltage Controlled Oscillators
1x Low Pass Filter (24db/Oct 4-pole)
2x Low Frequency VCO (LFOs)
4x ADSR Envelope Generators:
4x Voltage Controlled Amplifiers
1x Sample and Hold
1x Noise Generator (Pink, White, Random)
1x CV Recorder/Dual Channel Sequencer
1x 4-Channel Mixer
2x Multiples Panel
1x Ring Modulator
1x Gated Slew (Portamento)
1x MIDI-to-CV Conversion
1x +/-15V 1.5A Power Supply"

I asked gkibler if his clone was based on original Moog schematics and if the modules would be available in completed, kit form, or via DIY instructions.

"Yes, it's heavily based around the original and updated Moog schematics but in order for the space savings I had to make some decisions how to strip what I viewed as extraneous knobs and parameters. I originally envisioned building these as complete units with a limited run of around 12 to 15 per year, yet keeping the cost down to somewhere under the $5K price point. Which is a great deal, considering this inhabits 80-90% of the capabilities and features somewhere between a Moog System 35 ($22K) and System 55 ($35K). Hope to have a detailed website available soon with more info."

"Buchla Cynthia ZOe ZerOscillator Buchla 200/200e format --- in great condition! 100% functional and looks great, but has some wear as seen in the photos. This is the MKII version that will fit anywhere in your Buchla boat. Only a handful of these made. They sound absolutely amazing and can't beat that analog through zero FM!!"
