Bob Moog Foundation: John Mills-Cockell on Early Moog Modular Artists
via The Bob Moog Foundation
"Thom Holmes returns with the first installation of an exploration of some of the earliest uses of the Moog Modular in live performance. This month he highlights John Mills-Cockell, who was a member of the experimental multimedia group Intersystems in Toronto in the late 60s.
Read about Mills-Cockell's early use of the modular and hear examples of it here."
Pictured: "Intersystems, circa 1968. From left, Blake Parker, John Mills-Cockell, Dik Zander, Michael Hayden. Showing a Moog Modular synthesizer IIP with its keyboard and ribbon controller sitting on top of a Vox organ."
On a separate note, the Bob Moog Foundation continues to expand their Dr. Bob's SoundSchool education initiative.
"Our hallmark education initiative, Dr. Bob's SoundSchool, began five years ago as a pilot program in eight classrooms. Today the innovative program, which inspires children through the intersection of science, music, and technology, will serve over 85 classrooms, and nearly 2,000 students."

A bassline with the ARP Odyssey (Korg re-issue) by Jordan Passmore
Published on Feb 17, 2016 Jordan Passmore
"This is a demonstration of the ARP Odyssey re-issue by Korg. The ARP is being sequenced via Ableton. The drums and the synth were ran into my Ace Tone Mixer (with built-in spring reverb) and then the overall signal was sent into my audio interface. The only effect used was the spring reverb, and the was just affecting the ARP (when you see my tweaking a knob to the far left, that is the total amount of reverb being sent to the main mix)."

Hordijk DualFader RingMod & DualFader Panning
Two Hordijk DualFader demos from bartonmusic aka Todd Barton.
"When I read in the Hordijk manual about the DualFader module and the statement that "you can create the typical ringmodulator sound from the fifties and sixties as used by e.g. Karl-Heinz Stockhausen" -- I had to give it a whirl! Love these Hordijk sounds."
"This is a demonstration of using the Dual Fader as a panner to produce some nice spatial effects. No outboard effects just three layered tracks with internal panning via the Dual Fader. Headphones or monitors recommended."

Roland Super JX-10 Analog Synthesizer with Vecoven Mod

"Roland JX-10 with upgraded firmware to accept MIDI CC and send/receive patches. It includes the memory cartridge for storing your sounds.
The JX-10 is a 12-voice analog monster sometimes referred to as 2 JX-8P's in one body. This thing can output up to 24 analog oscillators at once and do basic FM, keyboard splitting, has built-in chorus and can be controlled externally to act as 2 different synths. This is seriously the most affordable package you'll find for that many analog voices (12 total).
The keybed is semi-weighted with aftertouch and makes a fantastic master keyboard. It's very playable and the 76 keys span 6 octaves to allow for very versatile playing and can also be split to play two patches (or "tones" in Roland-speak) at once. So you can very easily play bass with your left-hand, and pads or lead with your right.
Some cool things enabled by the upgrade:
• MIDI CC/Sysex input
• Map 2 of the onboard sliders to any parameter
• Arpeggiator
• Custom display options
More info about the Vecoven upgrade's added features [pdf link]"

"This amazing synth has a very hard-edged personality. It has the gritty core of the tine-honoured SID chip (first found in the commodore 64). This gives it the classic computerised, almost glitchy sounds which are both cutting and percussive. This box is for serious high-end beatmakers."
