sin(apse) Feedback Envelope Sequencer Drum Jam

"Two things had to happen to make this module possible: 1) I'm terrible at programming drums and want more automatic beat creation tools. 2) I recently got into Congotronics and polyrhythmic African music. The sin(apse) uses LFOs and envelope feedback to create spontaneous, dynamic, and humanized drumbeats.

At the heart of this module is a Demux-Mux pair. This pair is connected straight across - nothing in between, i.e., the outputs of the Demux are fed directly into the inputs of the Mux.

The Demux and Mux select inputs are driven by different sources - in this case, LFOs, and feedback from the module itself. When the Demux and Mux sync up, they pass signal, triggering an envelope.

The signal level passed is determined by the knob in the top right of the module.

The knob to the right of it is the Attack knob. Directly below these two knobs are the Demux and Mux select controls.

Below those knobs are the lower and upper thresholds for the envelope trigger. If a signal coming out of the Demux-Mux pair is lower or higher than the threshold controls, no signal passes.

The knobs at the bottom of the module are display knobs that show the relative position of the min and max threshold. The minimum value is kept automatically lower than the maximum value.

The 3 Mapper nodes control the individual feedback response of the DSR portion of the envelope. The three buttons turn the feedback to DSR portions on or off (off = setting of .01). To keep the DSR controls from going negative (and causing spontaneous time travel), their feedback inputs are clamped between 0-1.

The LFO or feedback is applied to the Demux-Mux selectors, driving the module. The rest of the modulations change the rhythm or amplitude.

The drums are created with oscillators and a noise source. With a 1/oct oscillator, you can plug the output of an envelope to the inputs for pitch and envelope to create a quick, naturally decaying and pitch modulating drum. Big drums like toms and kicks all detune slightly as they decay - if you note this and add pitch modulation to your drum sounds (just a pinch!) it will go a long way to injecting life into them.

ARP 2500 - My Resonator Addiction - Remix 2

Published on Mar 13, 2016 DJjondent

"This is Remix # 2 of 'Mr Resonator Addiction'.

Remix #1 is unlisted but can still be viewed here: [all parts here]

Anyway, I just can't get the sound out of my head. That resonator is a drug.

I thought the drums on remix 1 were too heavy, so i've softened them down a bit.I've added a few loop samples and one or two soft synths to the original ARP 2500 recording."

FYRD Instruments MTRX-8 Sequencer

"Up for auction is a MTRX-8 sequencer, currently has the SEQ X 4 v1.0 firmware in it.
I built a stand for it so it could sit behind one of my synths. Its easy to remove as it just has two bolts on either side, but the original 'ears' have two holes in them where the new stand affixes to.
More info on it here, there's also a bunch of videos too.
http://www.fyrd-instruments.com/MTRX
This on is the first version, slightly bigger than the second version. Sequencer is in good condition, but given that the surface is perspex it has a lot of small marks/scuffs on it. Never gigged, just had minimal studio use, smoke free / animal free studio.
Comes with power supply (not pictured)."

"I bought this synth in 2008 and the 1st owner stated he got it brand new and used it for a couple years. It never left my smoke-free home studio.

Everything works excellent and I never had any issue about it.

I could not see any noticeable scratches, blemishes, dents, etc anywhere on the instrument. It looks pretty new cosmetically and 100% working.

It’s really a unique and powerful analog synth but I didn’t use it to its full potential. I am not quite a programming guy and I only use preset sounds.

Still during my 8-year ownership I did get inspired and wrote some songs.

I include one Youtube link to let you get a taste of its sound." [video above]

Doepfer Schaltwerk Analogue Sequencer SN 961014

This is a very rare and legendary 8 track analogue style midi and CV/gate (5 volts) Sequencer. It is possible to edit every parameter during playback with instant effect. So you can sequence live, also save and load, without stopping playback. Classic techno acts like "Der dritte Raum" used this unit for live performances and recording. For fully features set see doepfer website where you still can download the manual.

I bought it back in 1997. This was one of the very first units ever produced, it was a beta version. It was upgraded later with the original Parts from doepfer that added a new rom and the cv/gate board wich was not included in the beta version. The unit is in fully working condition. There are a few signs of wear, this unit is 19 Years old."
