"Jean-Yves Leloup and NoDesign, the commissioners Electrosound, chose a unique perspective to talk about, with the red wire machines and technological innovation. They plunge us into an immersive, interactive experience scanning a wide spectrum of musical productions, from 1945 to today, pioneers and scientists from 1950 to 1970 (Pierre Schaeffer, Robert Moog, Peter Zinoviev, Brian Eno, Jean-Michel Jarre ...) to the current and popular triumph electro. Electrosound, the lab at the dancefloor going back in time, over the 20th century that saw the electricity and electronics invest the musical field, until emergence of a major cultural movement, which is called 'electro', 'house' or 'techno'."
"Electrosound, the lab at the dancefloor, is an exhibition aimed at a wide audience, the curious beginner to the connoisseur. It is divided into six chapters decrypting the major stages of this musical revolution. Around a timeline, she meets machines and period instruments (synthesizers, drum machines, and other strange machines), popular objects of broadcasting and listening to music, archives (from the GRM, EMS studios and many international sources) and artistic photographs by Jean-Jacques or Jacob Ader Khrist, showing changes since search studios 1950s until the DJ culture."

Custom Synth Panel Printer on Go Fund Me
For the DIYers out there:
Currently on Go Fund Me.
"Imagine being able to upload your full colour, custom panel designs on a website, then days later receiving the finished, photo quality panel in the post.
Nice Simple Process. Good Quality Product.
The technology is out there, it's just really fecking expensive.
At GMSN! I've been working for the past two years on a process for creating professional quality, alumium faceplates for Eurorack Modular Synthesisers. Together with a friendly screenprinter we've finally cracked it. The feedback from customers has been excellent. A common theme is that people are surprised how good the panels are, given the price. When you're showing your modular rig off, you want it to look the part...
But what you really want are custom panels. Your own design for your own custom modular rig. In full, photo quality colour.
The next step to acheiving this is to invest in a professional Solid Matter Direct Printing System.
This machine prints onto unsealed anodised alumium. The surface of the metal has small anodic pores which the special ink sucks into via capiliary action. After printing the panel is then heated at 95C for 45 mins. This seals the pores and creates a protective layer over the ink, giving a seriously hard wearing surface, critical for extensive knob twiddling.
These ain't cheap and the one we have shortlisted is £11,939.59.
Hence this campaign. (The reason we've gone with GoFundMe is that even if we don't reach the target, we can still partially fund the project, and secure the shortfall through traditional means.)"

Korg Volca FM polyphonic synth and Coffee Shopped DX Touch iOS App functionality and limitations

iTunes: Patch Touch: for Yamaha DX/TX - Coffeeshopped LLC
Note the KORG Volca FM does not currently respond to realtime editing via external editors. Instead, it responds to complete patch dumps. For example also check out the Patch Base editor video with the Volca FM here.
"Korg is releasing a new 3 voice, 6 operator fm synthesizer known as the Volca FM. Fm synthesis was very popular in the 80's with the Synclavier and, of course, the Yamaha DX7: one of the most popular synths of that decade. With 80s music experiencing a renaissance, Korg has made this affordable and fun Volca to bring the sound of the DX7 back into the spotlight.
I own a DX7, and like many others, have always found it difficult to program. However, Coffee Shopped's DX Touch iOS App made it very easy to visualize exactly how fm synthesis works, and made it much easier to make my own patches. When I heard about the Volca FM, I wanted to see if it was possible to make DX Touch work with it. Check out the video to see the results, and don't forget to subscribe! Also Check out our website to get free samples and Ableton Instruments, and stay in the loop with everything going on here at Expanding sound.
