Monome Arc4 Encoder smoothness

Published on Dec 1, 2016 Salz-Peter Zucker

"Short test of the encoder smoothness on the new Monome Arc4 - two of four are great on eis not so great. The fourth is somewhere in between - not as smooth as the nice ones but not making grinding noises either..."

No audio, just a demo of the knobs. So cool. It reminds me of the knobs on old classic stereo systems, specifically an old silver Yamaha system my older brother used to own.

Update:

Two more with some audio:

Also used a MIDI controller for part volumes of the the Korg Volca Beats and of the RS7000."

Arturia Drumbrute Hardtek Style

Published on Nov 30, 2016 HardtekStudios

"I give the Arturia Drumbrute a good demo beat and play around with bringing in and out the different instruments, add sequence notes in real time and of coarse, tweaking the drum parameters. There are a few issues with the unit. The Filter will make a click type of pop when you engage it during playback. Also, if an instrument has swing, then playing the roller will mess with it's timing. Hopefully a future update might fix this. Stay tuned for lots more Drumbrute videos."

KORG iWAVESTATION | WAVE SEQUENCE SYNTHESIZER for iOS

Published on Nov 30, 2016

iTunes: KORG iWAVESTATION - KORG INC.

"Creating sounds with time-varying timbre, on your mobile device. A wave sequence synthesizer for iOS.

The WAVESTATION synthesizer went on sale in 1990. This instrument featured an advanced vector synthesis system which created new sounds by combining and connecting multiple waveforms; it provided a mix/morphing function that let you use a joystick to change the balance of four oscillators, and a distinctive wave sequence function that allowed you to place waveforms in a desired sequence to create sequence patterns. To this day, it continues to be considered a legendary and still-unique instrument.

Now in 2016, the WAVESTATION has been reborn as "KORG iWAVESTATION," an app for iPad/iPhone. In addition to completely reproducing the programs, it also features a renewed design that lets everyone experience the stupendous sound-shaping potential of the WAVESTATION. It features touch-based operation that's distinctive of iOS, in conjunction with a new graphic interface that allows you to visualize and edit the time-varying timbral changes that are distinctive of the WAVESTATION. The sound and functionality are taken directly from the WAVESTATION itself, but the speedy and intuitive sound-shaping which were previously impossible are now made possible by the iWAVESTATION. Now you can obtain the diverse sounds of wave sequencing, inimitable by any other synthesizer, on your iPad/iPhone."

AI Synthesis Releases AI003 Looping Envelope Generator

The following is the official press release in via AI Synthesis. You can find two videos previously posted here and here.

"Portland, OR, USA November 29, 2016 – AI Synthesis has released its third module, the AI003 Looping Envelope Generator. Followed the tradition of its first two eurorack modules, the AI001 Multiple and AI002 Mixer the module has a full video how-to build guide, and is available as a fully built module, full kit, as a PCB and Panel set, and as PCB only. Unlike some DIY companies that focus solely on providing kits, AI Synthesis has an educational mission and our kits and documentation are aimed at those who have never held a soldering iron. PCBS are professionally manufactured, and all panels are aluminum and designed by Grayscale.

'In the year 2000, I was in college and obsessed with modular synths, but could barely afford to eat. I knew it was possible to build your own synth, but there wasn’t anyone, or anywhere to turn to for advice. In the past decade, much more information has been published online, and in 2013 I started down my path to DIY modular. Even with all of the information online, there still lacked a single, simple, comprehensive guide for those looking to build their own synthesizer. I want AI Synthesis to be that guide. Prior to building my own synth, I was a dreamer, after building my modular, I felt I had awoken. I want to help others do the same.'
-Abraham Ingle
Founder, AI Synthesis

In addition to providing step by step build instructions, schematics, and circuit explanations, each Build Guide includes a full-build video tutorial, so builders can see every step. The site also includes a guide for getting started in modular synthesis, and a series of DIY Guides, with information regarding how Resistors actually work, and how to integrate a $26 scope into your Eurorack system.

Upcoming kits include filters, oscillators, and euclidian sequencers, all with the same painstaking quality, support, and resources."

You can find modules and kits at synthcube.com.
