Synthchaser #039 - Oberheim OB-X Repair - Mouse Pee, Exploded Capacitor & More

Published on Dec 12, 2016 Synth Chaser

"I repair an Oberheim OB-X that suffered some damage from the corrosive effects of mouse urine. We also see the dangers of leaving the old tantalum capacitors in synthesizers. I track down a memory retention issue causing the synth not to store patches correctly. I also show how to rebuild the OB-X power supply and change the battery."

Arturia Drumbrute The Process of Rhythm

Published on Dec 11, 2016 HardtekStudios

"In this slow Tek Hop(?) style beat, I run the Kick 2 into the MF Drive for some overdrive and tone shaping. The snare is ran clean so it can be panned separate from the rest of the drums. The Reverse Cymbal is going into the Bitrman to turn it into more of a transitioning Scifi effect. All other drums are output via the main out. No apparitional processing was applied."

Valentin Doychinov - Live Session 2

Published on Nov 29, 2016 Valentin Doychinov

"Presenting V-Stok live sessions, recorded recently in the amazing Jackson's lane Studio 1.
Drawing inspiration from techno, ambient, post-rock, metal, I have been working on a hybrid electronic live set and instrumental performance. The set does not follow a strictly defined script and each instance takes a different path."

"Serial # 46xx, dates from the early-mid 70's, (I believe).
Original Spartanite case has perfect working latches, all rubber feet, excellent logo, & normal scratches.
Normal cosmetic wear, some of the graphics are worn on face of the synth, please see photo's.
Knobs & pots are all working fine. The joystick works fine but has a bit of friction on the extreme right side as compared to the left side.
Speakers work fine.
Includes ten (10) White Pins, seven (7) Red Pins, & four (4) Yellow Pins.
Includes power cable with European connector & adapter for use in USA.
Includes cable with Cinch Jones connector & three (3) 3.5 mm plugs labelled CV, GATE, & TRIGGER. (I've never used this cable, may be for keyboard connection)
Includes a Moog heavily padded gig bag.
Includes copy of SYNTHI EDUCATIONAL HANDBOOK, SYNTHI BOOK OF SOUNDS, & BLANK PATCH SHEETS. These are used photocopies
I've used this synth for three years & have tested all functions before listing. This synth plays & sounds great. The filter is fantastic !!!
Checked all knobs & pots, joystick, Inputs, outputs, speakers, all jacks, OSCILLATORS, FILTER, ENVELOPE SHAPER, RING MODULATOR, NOISE,
& REVERB (Note: I rarely used Reverb because I used rack effects. The reverb works fine when patched correctly but some patches cause controllable
feedback when Reverb Level is set between halfway & full.
I believe that this is due to my experimental patching which can cause some interesting results."

"These items appear to have been stored in a clean, dry, nonsmoke place for a long time.

The items look to have had minimal/no usage and almost/no signs of wear.

Other than yellowing of the keys and slight wear on the boxes no tarnish or oxidation is present.

For its age I would describe it to be in mint condition.

Other than the box(s) they appear to be new. I do not know if they function like new.

I have no way to test..."
