"A look at the new Strymon Magneto Eurorack module at NAMM 2018. TL;DR - we want one!

From Strymon's webiste
"To capture the full experience and complexity of a vintage tape echo machine, every last tape system attribute was relentlessly studied and faithfully recreated. From the sought-after natural saturation and soft clipping of magnetic tape when driven hard, to hands-on real-time controls for tape age, tape crinkle, and mechanical wow and flutter, Magneto delivers a rich multi-head delay experience that adds life and vibe to your sound."

Roland JX-3P (Juno 106) SUPER CHORUS Effects Xenyx 2442FX Behringer Mixer

Published on Feb 10, 2018 DKDiveDude

"About a month ago I got a vintage Roland JX-3P locally for only $250. Middle C key did not work, sequencer tempo slider was broken off, and seller claimed sequencer did not work. I took it apart and fixed the broken key. Sequencer worked fine when putting switch in back to MIDI.

Anyways I LOVE the sound of this thing. It sounds, to my ears, exactly like a Juno 106, except the JX-3P is BETTER as it have two DCO's (Digitally Controlled Oscillators) per voice.

Here I paired it up with the built-in effects of my Behringer Xenyx 2442FX mixer. It has 100 built-in effects, of which many are VERY good with the JX-3P / Juno, one delay effect is like a SUPER CHARGED CHORUS! Others are reverb, flanger, phaser, and regular chorus."

Ethan's Theme OB6

Dave Smith Instruments OB-6 Desktop Unboxing Pics

Just a few unboxing pics of my brand new DSI OB-6 Desktop! :) I decided to sell my OB-Xa after getting it restored by Synthchaser. I needed the space, and I figured it was time for it to go to someone who would enjoy it fresh and new. That, and I wanted the extra features of the OB-6 with the reliability of a new synth. I am curious how the SEM based design will sound compared to my OB-Xa. The OB-1 and OB-X were based on the discrete analog design of the original SEM, while the OB-Xa moved towards a Curtis IC chip based design. From what I've heard online, I am sure the OB-6 will satisfy my needs for that overall Oberheim character, yet add its own distinct character as does each OB synth.   I just opened the box and took these pics, so I haven't had a chance to play it yet.  That said, I will say physically it feels like an Oberheim - the knobs, the look of it of course, the weight (this thing is solid), and surprisingly the wood side panels down to the type of screws used on it.  My OB-Xa, OB-SX and Matrix-12 all had the same exact type of screws.  I know it's a minor detail to most, but having been an owner of Oberheim's classic poly analogs it is a detail much appreciated.  I cannot wait to dig into this synth! I've been thinking about picking one up since it was released. I haven't been this giddy about a new synth in a long time. :)
