Wave folder

Published on Mar 5, 2018 organfairy

"Jump to 4:34 to avoid the annoying artificial saxophones.

Lately I have been trying to make things I haven't made before - something else than sequencers, VCOs, VCFs, VCAs, etc.
I have never tried making a wave folder before. As a matter of fact until recently I didn't know what a wave folder is. But I found a good explanation somewhere - the one with the folded paper - and decided that this could be interesting.

The music is something I made on Technics SX-C600 and Yamaha HE-8 organs, and the Roland CR-68 drum machine made the rhythm."

Mutable Instruments Peaks Overview

Published on Mar 5, 2018 once upon a synth

"Quick tour of the Mutable Instruments Peaks eurorack module. I go over the basics of the front panel then do a rapid fire demo of all its 8 different functions. The peaks is an LFO, ADSR envelope generator, Tap tempo LFO, drum synth, mini sequencer, trigger delay and trigger randomizer. It's a swiss army knife module that is very versatile."

Do You Like Our Owl? - Moog Mother 32, OP-1, Bastl Granny and Korg 05R/W

Published on Feb 24, 2018 Lowering Skies

"There's no hope in the future. Only rain and neon sparks in the night.

The background pads are coming from Yamaha DX7, processed with Paul's Extreme Sound Stretch and then played with granulation using Bastl Granny 2.0
OP-1 is responsible for FM Brass sound and drums.
The background sequence is coming from Moog's Mother 32 — nothing fancy, just a sequencer playing notes in sync with the background pads.
Korg 05R/W holds most of the melody and I must say it's an amazing artifact from the past, capable not only bringing the 80s sound but also gives a highly dense atmosphere even using stock presets."

013//Radio Static - 2x Moog Mother 32 self-generating track

Published on Mar 5, 2018 Alastair Wilson

"A lo-fi, melodic, semi-self-generating modular patch using a small Eurorack setup sent through an Eventide Space dynaverb reverb and an Eventide Timefactor on vintage delay setting. No other processing has been applied.

The patch is semi-random; the backing arpeggios and filter sweeps are expected, but the notes supply the main melody are randomly chosen by the random stepped voltage that comes from the Assign output.

I created this patch after scrolling through the presets on the Eventide Space for the first time ever! I found a preset called Radio Static, which creates a gritty reverb by using a compressor with attack and release times so fast they create digital distortion. I loved the sound of it and so this patch was born. The only other particularly interesting feature is that I converted the random stepped voltage to random gates by triggering the Gate input of the lower Mother 32 with the random voltage. I then took the Gate output and sent that to the higher Mother 32's VCF Cutoff input to open the filter.

A side note - although it looks like Veils in the top left is part of the patch, I'm only using it as a mixer, to turn down the volume of the Mother 32s before they enter the Timefactor.

If you want to recreate this patch, you can find it here:
