"Both our Squaver P1 and our ConVertor audio controlled synthesizers got a little face lift when we decided to increase their ACO's gate threshold by 18db to -36dBu.
This significantly decreased the chance of random noises.
All our existing stock is now upgraded and is still offered for 40% discount until stock lasts.
If you are an existing user you can receive this upgrade for free.
Just write us an email at info@sonicsmith.com and we will guide you through the rest.
Our + versions of those synth is still expected to ship early April and is going to be pretty similar to the upgraded current generation."

Behind the Scenes on Steinberg's HALion - An Interview with Head Developer Michael Ruf
Supporting MATRIXSYNTH member, Synthmorph, wrote in to let us know they have an interview up with Michael Ruf, the head developer of HALion. You can find the full interview here.
A short excerpt on the beginning of HALion:
"Since I joined Steinberg only in 2007, I cannot really tell you much about the development before that time, but when we set up the new HALion team in 2007, we were completely aware that the existing code basis had evolved over quite a long time and had come to a point where it was rather difficult to keep up with new technologies like the transition to 64-bit computing. So, the decision was made to develop the whole HALion engine from the ground up, allowing us to create a really modern, modular and flexible engine as the foundation for our future instrument line."
AI Synthesis Releases AI004 OTA Filter MS-20 Clone
See the video posted here.
"Portland, OR, USA March 12, 2018 – AI Synthesis has released its fourth module, the AI004 OTA Filter, a loving tribute to the late MS-20 filter design. Following the tradition of the first three eurorack modules, the AI001 Multiple,AI002 Mixer, and AI003 Looping ADSR, the module has a full how-to build guide, and is available as a fully built module, full kit, as a PCB and Panel set, and as PCB only. Unlike some DIY companies that focus solely on providing kits, AI Synthesis has an educational mission and our kits and documentation are aimed at those who have never held a soldering iron. PCBS are professionally manufactured, and all panels are aluminum and designed by Grayscale.
'In the year 2000, I was in college and obsessed with modular synths, but could barely afford to eat. I knew it was possible to build your own synth, but there wasn’t anyone, or anywhere to turn to for advice. In the past decade, much more information has been published online, and in 2013 I started down my path to DIY modular. Even with all of the information online, there still lacked a single, simple, comprehensive guide for those looking to build their own synthesizer. I want AI Synthesis to be that guide. Prior to building my own synth, I was a dreamer, after building my modular, I felt I had awoken. I want to help others do the same.'
-Abraham Ingle
Founder, AI Synthesis
In addition to providing step by step build instructions, schematics, and circuit explanations, the site also includes a guide for getting started in modular synthesis, and a series of DIY Guides, with information regarding how Resistors actually work, and how to integrate a $26 scope into your Eurorack system.
Upcoming kits include filters, oscillators, and VCAs, all with the same painstaking quality, support, and resources. Users can purchase modules and kits at aisynthesis.com, modularaddict.com, thonk.co.uk, https://foundsound.com.au/, and synthcube.com, with more retailers soon to come."

DAF-style crossover acid with Deluge, Moog Sub Phatty, MBase 11, 303 etc
Published on Mar 12, 2018 Shimanski Beats
"Trying out the new 1.4 firmware of the Deluge with the new note probability & iteration dependence functions which I consider a real blessing! This song consists of only one 1-bar-pattern but several tracks contain some conditional notes and notes with 1/x iterations which make the whole thing sound like longer patterns or complex pattern chains.
Furthermore, this is the first time I use my recently acquired Jomox MBase 11 in a live jam. Damn this thing has analog power.
Instruments used:
Jomox MBase 11: Bass drum
Synthstrom Audible Deluge (additional drums; hardware sequencer)
Moog Subphatty: Lead bassline
Cyclone Analogic Bassbot TT-303: acid line 1 (through TC Dark Matter and TC Vintage Delay X4)
MAM MB33 Retro: acid line 2
Waldorf Streichfett: strings
external effects: Lexicon MX200 (chorus & delay), TC M350 (delay), TC M-One XL (reverb)
If you like this music, please give a thumbs up, leave or comment and/or subscribe.
Cheers!
