Dreadbox Erebus v3 Filter Sweeps

Published on May 13, 2018 ProckGnosis

"Just some quickly executed filter sweeps on the new Dreadbox Erebus v3 I was able to record at Superbooth 2018 (plus a boatload of extra footage just screwing around with it). The new Erebus sounds great, and once again it shows how Dreadbox just keep building on their ideas. This has plenty of the original Erebus DNA, plus a touch of the Abyss, Nyx, and even Murmux v2 heritage as well.

Some of the big advantages this has over the original Erebus (v1 or v2)?
1. Extra (3rd) Oscillator
2. Mixable LP/HP filter
3. More modular patch points
4. Frequency Modulation
5. Loopable envelopes
6. Cool triple ring effect"

Rare Vintage RMI DK-20 Digital Piano / Preset Synthesizer

A rare piece spotted by MATRIXSYNTH reader Kaden Harris on Craigslist.

"Here's your chance to own a rare early digital preset synthesizer! The DK-20 by Rocky Mount Instruments, Inc (RMI) was produced from 1979 to 1982. So rare, I can't find any demo videos of it on YouTube. It featured the latest digital technology at the time and I believe was one of the first digital pianos. 68 keys. Includes the volume pedal, sostenuto toe stud, and sustain pedal and legs/stand. You can control the decay curves, timing, and release characteristics along with mixers, phasers, and modifiers. Everything works. Asking $750."

Node Live at the Royal College of Music Now Available on CD and Download

You can find a teaser video of the performance previously posted here. Node features supporting MATRIXSYNTH member, Dave Bessell.

Click the images for the larger shots. This is an amazing setup.

"The Node Live album is now available as CD and Download on DiN records. The CD features a six page booklet and wrap around sleeve showing the full stage set up which features an alarmingly large list of classic and modern analogue equipment. Shock and Awe just about covers it!

This is the real deal, all sounds where created on the spot for the gig. Even the analogue sequencers where tuned by hand - no pitch quantisers! The tuning, sequence programming and patching alone took six hours. For the live situation we featured a little more percussion than we usually do which adds a new dimension. It was recorded at the Royal College of Music as four stereo feeds, one from each band member plus an ambience track of the room sound. It was then mixed by Alan Meyerson who is more normally found mixing Hollywood blockbuster soundtracks for Hans Zimmer."
