"The fine item you are considering is a Rare Vintage Modular Version Steiner Parker Synthacon Synthesizer. Yes, it’s the rare modular version of the Steiner Parker Synthacon, but there is no “Parker” listed on the unit, only the “Steiner” name. The unit looks to be in excellent, well cared for condition, with the only issue I see being that one knob is missing (the knob from the VC Filter section) but the pot and pot post is still there and in good shape- only the knob has fallen off. I opened the back of the unit, and everything inside looks to be visually in good shape as well. Unfortunately, I do not have a keyboard for the unit, and I have no way to actually test the unit, so I’m selling it “as is”, although I will guarantee it to be as I have described, in excellent cosmetic condition, and looking like it was extremely well cared for. Please see my photos to have a look at this nice item."

"It’s a Bigger Badder Mopho!
Mopho SE builds upon the same award-winning analog, subtractive synth voice architecture of the Mopho and packages it in an ideally sized, three-and-a-half-octave, portable package. Use it to create the same huge basses, creamy leads, and percolating sequences that made the original Mopho everyone’s favorite micro mono synth.

The Mopho Sings!
The Mopho SE voice is composed of two analog oscillators, two sub octave generators, selectable 2- or 4-pole famed Curtis low-pass filter, three 5-stage envelope generators, four LFOs, a re-latchable arpeggiator, and a 16 x 4 step sequencer. Its voice also comes packed with 20 modulation sources and almost 50 destinations!

FM the filter to create metallic bell-like sounds and use the feedback path to add subtle or destructive harmonic content to your sound. Process external audio through the Mopho’s voice and add some analog warmth to any source. Mopho SE’s 100% analog signal path is powerful, monstrous, and sonically dynamic!

Ready to Gig and Fun to Play!
Mopho SE is intuitive and inviting. Every parameter is fully programmable and editable from the front panel. The controls are logically laid out, lending themselves to quick access so you can tweak knobs without missing a beat.

The SE’s full sized 44-note semi-weighted keyboard has aftertouch and velocity sensitivity. The sturdy full sized pitch and mod wheels are freely assignable and sport smooth reliable action.

It Grows with You
Expand Mopho SE’s polyphony using it’s Poly Chain port. Mopho, Tetra, and Prophet ’08 can all be connected to the SE to increase its voice count. You can Poly Chain up to three Tetras with Mopho SE to create a 13 voice analog super synth!

The Mopho SE!
Designed and manufactured in San Francisco, Mopho SE has the high quality sound and build for which DSI is renowned. From its feature packed analog voice and unmatched sonic versatility to its refined design and engaging interface, you won’t find a monophonic analog synthesizer like this anywhere else."

"MANUFACTURER DESCRIPTION:
The OB-12 is a 12 voice synth with 4-part physical modeling synthesis. Loads of real-time knobs (22), sliders (24), and buttons (33) with a traditional layout give you fast hands-on access and control of most parameters. Extra hands-on goodies include a ribbon controller, pitch bend and modulation wheel.

Aside from great analog sounds, the OB-12 has an amazing set of hi-tech features! The OB-12 features a high quality LCD display that actually draws out all of the parameters you are changing. There are on board 5-band graphic & parametric EQ, ADSR's with delay time and double decay. An addictive Motion Recorder and manual or auto oscillator morphing for animated sounds or effects. Phrase Recorders and Arpeggiators with Independent tempo controls and 5 dedicated buttons are on-board with plenty of features and are MIDI syncable. There is also an extensive effects section that give you reverbs, delays, chorus and lots of overdrive algorithms. You'll also find digital SPDIF outputs, analog outputs, and MIDI in/out and thru."

Hard-Mod Modular Synth [NOISEBUG] USED

"This modular synth was hand-built in it’s totally in Mexico city. The spring reverb that integrates the front of the panel is a mechanic device, it has a structure of springs that drives the sound through them and generates reverberation. The ideas of having the spring externally exposed is so that they can be touched to create textures or noises upon the reverb effect.

The patchbay is on the left side and the control area is situated to the right. in some way it’s more confortable to play the synthesizer when the knobs are far-off the patchbay and control area.

Additionally it has 11 modules. Here’s a technical description on each one of them:

- Two VCO (voltage controlled oscillator.)
Each one with four waveforms that you can use simultaneously (square, saw, triangle and sine), CV input, FM and PWM. The FM input has an attenuator.

- VCF (voltage controlled filter.)
A four-pole and 24dB low pass filter. It has two inputs and, CV input and a FM with an attenuator.

- VCF (voltage controlled filter.)
A variable filter based on the original Steiner filter design. The two Low and high outputs can be used simultaneously. It has two inputs, CV input and a FM with an attenuator.

Getting to the Root of Scales

Published on Apr 17, 2019 Intellijel

Intellijel Scales

"Scales is an 8hp dual-channel note quantizer and step sequencer. Fundamentally, it takes an input voltage, quantizes it to notes in a user-defined scale, and sends that quantized voltage to an output, where you can use it as a melodic pitch source for oscillators or any other module that expects to see discreet note values at its input.

Scales goes far beyond the fundamental, allowing you unprecedented control of the pitches and intervals hiding inside your control voltages; turn LFO’s into arpeggiators; random voltages into harmonic counterpoint; and unquantized external CV sequencers into chromatically tuned note sequencers.

Quantization can be locked to an incoming trigger. There are a number of trigger output options as well, ranging from no triggering (good for pitch shifting drones); through triggers that sync with either of the two outputs (or both); to a trigger or gate transmitted in sync with one sent to the module’s TRIG input."

Strange Patching: Phasing Simulation with QPAS

Published on Apr 17, 2019 MAKEN0ISE

MAKEN0ISE Strange Patching

"In the section of his book that covers Phasing, Allen Strange uses a series of band pass filters to illustrate the concept. As he writes,

“A spectrally rich signal is taken, in parallel, to three or more band pass filters. The filter outputs, the three pass bands, are mixed at unity gain with the original unprocessed spectrum. Each filter must be offset to a different center frequency.. the filter should not be allowed to go into oscillation.

“A slow repetitive control voltage such as a sinewave from an LFO will then cause each filter to sweep through the applied signal, selectively passing different portions of the spectrum…. By mixing the pass-bands with the original spectrum, there will then be varying degrees of phase-cancellation in the signal, producing continually varying multiple notch cancellations or nulls. The effect will be more pronounced if the control voltage for each filter is attenuated a bit differently so that the nulls are not exactly in parallel.”

Allen Strange wrote the book on modular synthesizers in the 1970s. Electronic Music: Systems, Techniques, and Controls. Unfortunately since the expanded 1982 edition, it has never been reprinted, and in today’s landscape where more people have access to modular synths than ever before, very few have access to the knowledge contained within. This video series will explore patches both basic and advanced from Strange’s text. Even the simplest patches here yield kernels of knowledge that can be expanded upon in infinite ways. I have been heavily influenced by Strange since long before I became a modular synth educator. Please share this knowledge far and wide."
