"Korg Polysix Synthesizer. This is the one you've been waiting for! Excellent cosmetic condition, excellent functionality. All functions work as they should, all knobs turn smoothly, all buttons respond easily, all keys trigger as they should. The battery has been replaced with a CR2032 socket type battery and holder so that in the future, probably way out into the future, the battery will be very easy to change without having to solder. There are a few tiny scratches here and there and there is slight damage to the very corner of the wood sides. The circuit boards are clean. This keyboard was fully serviced recently and it shows in how it plays, sounds and responds. Please view my video below of me going through many of the functions of this synthesizer. It will also be shipped in a nice hard case. You won't find a better Polysix! I pack well with a ton of bubble wrap. I ship out quickly because I understand the excitement that goes along with purchasing a vintage synthesizer."

French DJ and Producer Philippe Zdar of Cassius Has Passed Away

Philippe Zdar on the Yamaha CS80 from will seelig on Vimeo.
Above is a video of Philippe on a Yamaha CS80 posted back in 2009.

He was a member of the French electro band Cassius and produced Phoenix's album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix and debut album.

An anonymous reader wrote in with the following:

"Cassius was / is a huge French electro band. They were part of the scene that Daft Punk and Air came out of. Additionally he DJ'd, produced, and mixed records. He had an insane studio in Paris called Motorbass with an insane collection of synths and recording equipment.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-48701514

From that BBC article:

Fusing disco and acid house, Cassius - named in homage to US boxing legend Cassius Clay - emerged as part of a new wave of French dance music in the late 90s, alongside acts like Daft Punk and Air.

Their debut single, Cassius 1999, which featured a chopped-up sample of Donna Summer's If It Hurts Just a Little, reached number seven in the UK charts.

Although they never matched that success again, the duo remained in demand as producers and remixers, working with acts like Phoenix, Hot Chip and MC Solaar, while their 2006 album Ibifornia featured artists like Pharrell Williams, Cat Power and Beastie Boy Mike D.

Prior to Cassius, Zdar also released an album with Etienne de Crécy under the moniker Motorbass.

Currently unavailable on streaming services, the record, titled Pansoul, was listed as one of the '100 lost albums you need to know' by NME magazine.

A retrospective review by Uncut magazine described Pansoul as "the starting point for the French dance movement", while Spin called it 'the most important album in French house'."
And via the Guardian:

"Zdar’s solo production for other artists earned him a reputation in his own right. He stepped in to save Phoenix’s 2000 debut album, United, when sessions with the initial producer went awry. His next fully fledged work with the French soft-rock group was with their 2009 breakout album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, which won the Grammy award for best alternative music album in 2010."

Kawai SX-210 Enhanced w/ Upgrades

This one is in via swissdoc.

Details on the enhancements/mods via sequencer.de:

Demo here

"All sounds are from the SX-210 plus reverb and delay from the DAW. The pad sound at the beginning with Sample + Hold is not possible with the original. I have developed a new motherboard that offers new possibilities. The demo was then recorded using MIDI and Cubase. Further information about the story can be found at SX-210 Story

The following extensions my SX-210 has:
- MIDI In and Out
- Sound parameters are stored on an SD card (400 slots)
- 4 LFOs (just one)
- Sine and random waveform as LFO
- MIDI Sync optional for all LFOs
- Polyphonic Step Sequencer with Veloocyity per note
- Arpeggiator (up, down, up / down, random) with 1 to 5 octaves
- MIDI controller support of all parameters
- Cutoff via note
- Longer patch names via scroll text
- LFO can now also modulate HPF and resonance as a target
- Pitch Bender now supports 0..99 semitones
- Unison
- Random disagree by touch
- Modulation Wheel can now be used as the target for Cutoff, HPF and LFO

The voiceboard is at least original."

SynthFest France 2019 Alex4 Video

Published on Jun 19, 2019 Alex4

"Synth Fest France was a nice and very cozy event held by synth lovers for synth lovers and more specially for those who are the future synth lovers with a super social taste. Thanks to the whole team for your ambitious work!
Well prepared and organised it was a pleasure taking part.

We did two workshops trying to break down modular to its essentials for easy understanding of the core principle - it’s all about fluctuating voltages and routing them to your own needs a.k.a. setting up a program.
Located in the rooms of a former girls school on a hill next to the shores of the mighty river Rhone.
The city of Nantes itself has a rich history and offers a lot of interesting places from past to present."
