Stziopa x Bastl: Kompas
Published on Sep 26, 2019 Bastl Instruments
"Kompas is a three-coordinate probabilistic pattern navigator. Each coordinate has a unique travelling pace and a dedicated trigger output. The amount of probability can be adjusted manually or by external voltages. Once a coordinate has been adjusted, a new pattern is generated and looped until the next change of direction.
this tool is the outcome of the environment we are in
and is inspired by non-linear approach to music and life – don't build any expectations, choose your direction and discover new paths
Unlike common probability operation, instead of filtering a pre-determined sequence, Kompas uses probability to generate new looping patterns based on the direction you choose.
Features
global clock and reset input
3 x 32 step pattern generators with travelling algorithms
3 CV inputs for coordinate modulation
3 trigger outputs
2/5/10ms selectable trigger length (via boot settings)
DIY and hacker friendly Arduino programmable hardware
open-source schematics and code
includes a printed fanzine with navigation topics
available also as a DIY soldering and coding workshop"
Kompas wes first introduced in May for SUPERBOOTH 2019.

weight | Teenage Engineering OP-1 + OP-Z Ambient
Published on Sep 26, 2019 Blicero
"weight by Blicero.
My first track with the Teenage Engineering OP-1.
All the words of it’s uniqueness and quirkiness are true and then some. Here I’m using the built in gyroscope to bend the notes in and out by tilting the OP-1 while I play.
The OP-1 is doing all of the spacey more ambient sounds; and the OP-Z provides the rest. The OP-1 is going into the Zoia. Here the Zoia is just a delay with some very subtle warm distortion.
OP-1 sounds are samples of instruments I have around; for this piece I don’t use the synth engines.
Recorded into a Zoom H6 and lightly processed in Ableton."
200 Trucks - A4Mk2, Novation Peak, Synthstrom Deluge
Published on Sep 26, 2019 Condukt
"Enjoy 96bpm and the sound of 200 trucks. The Deluge is doing whatever, and the Analog Four is doing the other stuff. The Peak is playing sound. The Keystep isn't actually connected to anything (the solo was sequenced later in post)."

OB-6: "Six by Eighteen" (Full 6-Voice Polyphony)
Published on Sep 25, 2019 Kris Lennox
"I tried to kill my OB-6. Dave & Tom won. I know when to wave the white flag, so I'm waving the white flag. Given the OB-6 is a 6-voice synth, I thought I'd push this to the absolute maximum by writing a piece with 6 fully independent lines (an interesting composition challenge in itself i.e 6 people having a conversation at the same time, yet making sense!).
I thought a small puff of smoke would emanate from the OB-6, and that would be the end of it. But no - the OB-6 won the battle.
Seriously - what an instrument. There's no voice stealing whatsoever. Dave, Tom - well done. Well done indeed!
Voice stealing would be obvious in this piece. As there are no breaks in the melodic lines, a voice drop would kill the piece/line. But the Obi didn't even flinch. This piece on the OB-6 is surely testament to the programming/design abilities and talents of Dave & team. Well done guys. Brilliant.
I've uploaded the piano version with score so you can see/follow the melodic lines (and see what the OB-6 is having to deal with in real-time i.e all parts of the score).
Over the weekend I plan on recording each line on a different synth, and creating a different timbre. This will allow for greater voice separation/clarity. Should be a fun little project. Once I upload the 6-synth version, I'll make the score/MIDI available.
RE the time signature (18/16): if you held a gun to my head and forced me to confess my favourite non-prime time signature, in a panic I'd likely say 18/16. Great meter.
The keen eye will notice polyrhythms towards the end (i.e 9:4). Very interesting. Polymetric writing also occurs throughout.
Keen number theorist types will also have noticed that all three versions total 18 minutes. I do like a good structure within a structure. 'Structure sandwiches' haha.
Must lie down. The Obi defeated me/didn't die when I tried to kill it. Brilliant synth (I genuinely didn't know if it would freeze/crash with a piece such as this).
All best
Kris"
Dinsync Gilbert In Black - Roland Inspired Mono Synth

"Here is a freshly complete Gilbert, a best of inspired by Roland mono synthesizer.
The circuit blocks take inspiration from :-
Curtis CEM3340 oscillator
MC-202 style formfactor
SH-101 style noise oscillator
MC-202 Sub Oscillator
SH09/Jupiter 4 (rev 1) style VCF
SH09 style interface layout
Features include:-
I/O (3.5mm jacks)
1v per octave cv/gate inputs
Raw oscillator outputs (saw, square, triangle, sub)
Hard Sync
Exponential FM
Linear FM
CV over VCF
External input (to mixer/vcf) with envelope follower
Audio output on both 3.5mm and 6.3mm jacks.
I have added mods based on the Isak Mods, these include :-
Increase VCF ENV amount
Increase VCF LFO amount
Increase VCO modulation amount
Increase Vpp at the output
These are not mind bending mods but give a better range for the modulation.
My builds come with the Black Christian Hartig/Kumptronics case, PSU and manual.
From the RE303/Dinsync website :-
'Gilbert is a small format analog monosynth inspired by what we consider to be some of the best era of Roland™ machines from the late 70s/early 80s. It has a nice “rubbery” tone that will be familiar to all acid aficionados and makes a great supporting voice for your RE-303. Gilbert can be thought of in a couple of ways. On one hand you have a fully fledged analog monosynth and on the other hand due to its I/O connections you could think of Gilbert as a eurorack module in a synthesizer format. Of course combinations of both also work, anything is possible.'"
